Maybe I just wanted some attention ! ! :(

Cheers guys, I've sent Shell a PM (previously) and I will fill that form out as directed. Hopefully a member by next month :D !

Peeps, I need your 2 cents worth..

As you know, I'm selling the Stagea. It's currently advertised for $14800 ($14500 for SAUers ), but have offered it to this guy for $14000. He has turned around and offered $13k to take into account the money involved to repair minor scratches on the car (no panel damage, just paint damage <$800 work), regas the a/c, manage a couple of leaks like a leak on the tapper cover gasket..

My first and only reaction is to reject the offer - and I doubt that I will change that. My opinion is that for cars like ours that are pushing 15-20+ years there are going to be these imperfections.

My question is; how much do or would you reduce the sale price to compensate for the work involved to get these things fixed?

In my opinion, all potential buyers do this as part of the human psych. More prevalent in other cultures, to put it diplomatically.

These same people will boast to their friends what they ended up buying it for.

Plus if you do sell for less than you wanted - we would normally cite why we did so. "Oh it had a few imperfections" ... makes us feel good for underselling it's true worth.

As is said time and again it is worth only what we sell it for.

Now you have advertised it for a price, and you have discounted it since. Stick to your price point.

You have already taken into account what needs doing and it's cost.

A perfect car demands a premium price.

How does it compare to others in the market?

I'd say $14,000 is the sweet spot and will sell for this amount :)

Thanks sin, I appreciate that. Hahah I need the confidence boost.

I am selling it at a higher cost than some in the market, but only due to the variety of additions and basic mods already checked off the list.

I saw 2 stags advertised.

one for $15,500 with almost the same KM's and not as nice as yours

one for $13,000 with twice the KM's and not as nice as yours.

So yours is better and in between both of the above. Hence the sweet spot comment.

No one is willing to spend, unless on a real bargain basement price, and it's been like this for a couple of years now.

as for paint imperfections I'd like to see what we can be do about that.

Black mate everything shows up - you know that :P

Hard colour to maintain.

Just thought I'd potentially annoy Anthony a little bit by letting him know I took my mate's '12 Kawasaki ZX10R for a short ride from the Costco carpark to Caltex in Hume yesterday.

I'd normally say something like "all I have to say is X", but truth be told that experience temporarily left me speechless....hahaha

Nah seriously, all I DO have to say is dear sweet f**king jesus. That machine is an absolute weapon. The power is has is unbelievably obscene. I gave it a tiny squirt ONCE in 2nd gear off the lights where Tharwa Dr crosses the highway and it absolutely blew my pants off - AND I DIDN'T EVEN TAKE IT ABOVE 6000rpm!!!!

I don't necessarily see the point in owning such an overpowered bike, but my god is that something to be experienced. I highly recommend taking one (or a similar bike) for a test ride the moment you get the chance (and/or are legally allowed to).

Its a bit much to get used too hey! haha its like :woot: then :O too fast!

And on those big bore bikes it feels like a train engine with all that torque.

When you own one your brain gradually becomes able to handle it.

Its weird how things look at those speeds, its like as you accelerate, space warps around you.

Yeah ive ridden an older model one. I could respect the power but it scared the absolute shit out of me. Don't want to die lol. Don't know about you Troy but im not an overly large person (67kg's) last i checked. And pretty much bang on 6 foot. As great as the 1000CC bikes are they are just too large/powerful for someone of my size.

I remember Nick (verms) saying his zx10r would do 180ish in first. they are crazy bikes. And then kawasaki decided to make the zx14r.

im looking at getting an R6 at some point in the next month or so. Im much more of a Yamaha man. When the car is finished... (good joke). But srsly its going in on Wednesday for its last bit of work till i have a house.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
