I wouldnt have a clue who is getting the drive. I know who i dont want to get the drive:) right now im not so worried about Williams, we already have Weber, right now i just want DC to pick up the Red Bull drive.

In a way i want pizza boy to get the seat, just so mid season after being humiliated by Weber again he can get dropped and Williams hand the driver over to someone else:)

That will kill his career for sure:thumbsup:

What i did read is that WEST are being replaced by Johnie Walker:alcoholic:

Yeah, you got a point there. If webber is as good as we say he is, what does it matter if piss-on-ia gets the drive? surely the way we've talked webber up he will walk all over him. if not

On the other hand I think it would be really good for webber to have a team mate he can work with. Otherwise there will be so much wasted energy spent clashing with piss.

here you go Roy (taken from planetF1):

"David Coulthard will remain in F1 in 2005 as he's signed a deal to drive Red Bull Racing, that is according to the team's boss Dietrich Mateschitz.

In the latest instalment in the David Coulthard/Red Bull saga, reports have emerged claiming that Red Bull have come to the conclusion that they need at least one experienced man in their ranks.

"There is no way we would go forward if we had two inexperienced drivers in the car," a team source told The Sunday Mirror.

"We have to have a driver who can develop the car and establish a baseline for the engineers."

And that driver is none other than David Coulthard, who Mateschitz says has already done a deal with Red Bull Racing, the former Jaguar Racing outfit.

"When someone has won 13 grand prix races and also has such a personality, we don't need to discuss much," Mateschitz told Austria's Kronenzeitung newspaper.

However, he did add that "in terms of marketing two youngsters would be best" for Red Bull Racing in their debut season, but immediately conceded that "having an experienced driver is more intelligent."

Neither Red Bull nor Coulthard have confirmed these reports."

Looks like DC is back.

Richard

Its not confirmed but I reckon hes back for sure.

In my opinion Red Bull have no other option. They obviously need experience to provide credible feedback to engineers and they need a driver that is reliable and reasonably quick.

Speculation has it that RB will opt for 1 full time driver and two part-timers that will alternate through the course of the season. Obvously DC would be the preferred full time driver. I think its a pretty good idea.

Has anyone heard more on the DC link to Team Dubai?

Sounds like they'll be in the starting line up in 2006 and DC is tipped as driver, as well as being involved in the business side of the team.

Odds are he'll be racing for RBR.

Yeah Team Dubai are in talks with Mercedes for customer engines. Whispers say that DC would get the drive because of his relationship with Mercedes. But then again, Wurz is also in the running. Doubt it cause he's all testing these days.

what team did Team Dubai used 2 b?

Well, DC and Red Bull are confirmed - a one year deal at the bargain basement rate of $A5.3 million (half his salary last year).

I'd still marry him for his money :)

excellent. The most interesting bit in that story is the part that says that heidfeld is now favoured over pizza for the williams drive. :):D:(

So as much as id love to see Weber do well next year...does anyone think he will make the top 3 in the championship, or win a GP?

My money is on McLaren drivers and those red cars to fight for wins...Renault performance to fall off a little, BAR to be struggle to repeat 2004 results. Why did they let David Richards go?????

I reckon Webber has the driving potential for a podium finish, it'll all come down to the car BMW Williams supply (apparently they are announcing details early Jan after they decide if Heidfeld or Pizzaboy will drive in the second seat).

The money is on BMW putting up a competitive, relaible engine this season (important when it needs to last 2 race weekends), but I think they will have better luck in 2006 under the v8/2.4L regs.

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
    • Not yet quite as bad as what we've seen a Jim Berry clutch do in an R32 GTR though when it decided to cut a chassis rail in half... Still very very gnarly and a great reason to avoid.
