They wanna ban drivers 26yo and younger from driving fast cars :zap:

Personally I think 26yo is to old, maybe they should restrict it to P

Platers or do what they do in melb and have power to weight ratio.

Motorbike rider have power to rate ratio while on Ps.

This is Bullshit....

The link is not working and I am very interested in this... (NAH JUST GOT IT TO WORK)

I have already paid Prestige and I have the money for an RZ supra....

This is very upsetting....

Just read the article...

I don't mind if the Ban come in for P-Platers (that is still me but not for too long)...

but untill your 26 is just stupid...

The Government is too fu#&ign lazy to figure out what the problem is and just wants to take the easy way out...Thats all i see with this...

Last thing they banned were Jet skies off the Harbour...the reason was they were too noisy... :bs!:

hey use this one

it is ridiculous i think maybe 21 would be more reasonable..

i doubt they would go through with it, too much opposition.

It wont happen. No, it cant happen. P platers, maybe. But 26 yrs of age? That is utterly ridiculous! Moreover, it would be nearly impossible to enforce in regional/rural areas.

Once a hoon, always a hoon. If they cant speed in a high powered car, theyll do it in a lower powered car and kill themselves anyway.

Preposterous!

Trouble is guys and gals the statistics don't lie , do you want to drive legally or drive dead ? I don't want my life to be at risk because some young fool drove way beyond his/hers and or the cars ability to be piloted SAFELY . Young people don't buy or should I say obtain fast cars to go slow . A vehicle in the hands of a maniac is a lethal weapon , flame me all you like but if you loose a friend or family member the reality may sink in .

From the article:

If the law was changed, one of those affected would be 19-year-old P-plater Steven Bolder, an apprentice carpenter who is paying off a $35,000 V6 Holden ute.

He admits to occasionally exceeding the speed limit but disagrees with proposed vehicle bans.

"It's a heaps bad idea – shocking!" he said.

"I got it up to 180 going down to the snow, but I never drive silly," said the Maroubra local.

However, Mr Bolder admitted the Government might be doing him a favour by introducing bans.

"They could be saving me," he said.

all i have to say to that is WTF!!!!!!! is wrong with that newspaper. they go and choose the biggest bogan they can find to get their interviews.

discopotato03 - i would say most young hoons will go fast in slow cars too (ill admit to driving many 'slow' cars fast)

the rule would even stop young drivers from driving commodores FFS! good luck getting people to stick to that law. then again, i guess they will make good money out of it.

I agree something has to be done about it....like for P platers for instance.

But banning all under 26yo ?????

like morgs said that would affect a majority of owners.....not just in nsw...

If it were enforced.....how are we to get rid of our cars ???

a fair amount of the market is made up of under 26 yo.....fair enough there are many people beyond this age bracket who still love fast cars...but the ratio would be in the under 26yo favour which means most people will have a VERY hard time selling their cars.....

what will the government do then ??? compensate us for our cars and try to sell it off to a dead market ? or worse crush them ?...highly unlikey.

Not only will individuals suffer...businesses will be hit hard too....

from a political standpoint....it will not be a wise decision to make....

They just have to realise not everyone under that age braket drive like maniacs.

discopotato33- I almost died in an accident myself...was trapped in the car and people had to get me out...I was lucky to get away with a concussion and some bruises. I wasnt doing something stupid either...some idiot hit me from behind and flipped my car on to a fence...so the reality HAS sunk in.

I do not agree with the banning of the high powered sports cars but I do think they should bring in a new licenceing system with more driver training....

They don't just hand out gun licences so why should it be so easy to get a car licence without the proper training...

I remember I had to do 50-100 hours of driving then take a guy around the block doing 10 K's under the speed limit and then you can drive any car car you want....

for those with gun licences.. You can't use a centre fire rifle (more powerful) with a rim fire (less powerfull) licence...

So why can you drive a 300kw HSV after doing a driving test in an 89 model TP Magna???

shonen, i think the market for these cars is already affected, a lot of people are turned off buying them, which explains why its hard to sell a skyline (unless very cheap) at the moment and even for a while past.

I do not agree with the banning of the high powered sports cars but I do think they should bring in a new licenceing system with more driver training....

Agreed!

Not just young drivers can get behind the wheel of a high powered car and mess it up - anyone can - you could be a 36 yr old driving a turbo for the first time and have a major accident - i think driver training and a better licensing system is a far better idea than restrictions

this ban is just going to encourage those concerned to get lil shitboxes (excel, 121, charades god knows what else), and speed in those. these cars are made on the cheap. speed is something most young people want to experience, and they will stop at nothing to speed. so they speed in those shitboxes and what happens when there is a sudden change up ahead? i dont think those lil hyandai brakes are up to the task of stopping the car effectibley becuase the car is made not with "speedy sams" in mind.

god i hope that made sense. this hot weather is getting to my head!

makes sense to me, im sure we have all thrashed the crap of out a small sh**box many times, which gives a similar experience to thrashing a faster car anyway! so i doubt it will stop hoons from continuing their activities, just in even more dangerous cars!

btw the weather is crap isnt it! im trying to get some work done and i cant concentrate because of the heat!

Yep it Just going to Push us into Shitboxs Lucky i have a NA silvia LOL BORE IT EVERYTHING **** them

This is Bullshit there should b no Bane on Anything Just GIVE up Government NO One our age wants your Help so want some Dicks Speeding head off Died I know 5 Ppl in my town that died Speeding in Shitboxs did anyone make the news NO

U won't Stop PPL dieing

Training Is what is Needed

Ppl want fast cars U won't Stop them ppl 18 to 26 that love cars is a Big voting Group SUCK it

actually the majority of people is 30+ these days.. that is why Australia is so conservative these days.

anyhow, 26 is way too old.. 21 is fine if anything.. after about 21 you've learned the majority of important things regarding driving in all conditions.

mate its all bullshit to me...

Australia will have its own terrist groups if this ban comes into place. not like iraq, but more like the liberation of freedom of choice, and CARs! obviously

we will see cambera in high alert coz car lovers aint gona stand and do nothin bout this ban!....

government gota look at the long term solution rather than the short solution.

driving schools, power cars training, breaking, turning, emergency stops and turning. etc etc

this way young ppl like ma self will have the expirience, not to speed and drift, but the skills to stop suddenly, avoid side, front and rear collitions, controlling a high powered car.....

hopes it all make sense....

I have to say this though it'll make me a target . The problem is not necessarily a lack of skill though three years of driving cannot build twenty years of experience .

I believe the issue is a psycological one , invincible is what the young believe they are . They are far more likely to take the sort of chances that older individuals wouldn't dream of . Life is a precious thing so learning to hurry slowly is good advise . If more young drivers could adopt a RESPONSIBLE attitude towards driving this issue would not be with us . Dont ever forget a drivers licence is a privelage not a right . Young hoon driver , I lived through it and have the benefit of hindsight . Will you live to see your 30's ?

....If more young drivers could adopt a RESPONSIBLE attitude towards driving this issue would not be with us . Dont ever forget a drivers licence is a privelage not a right .

such a general comment.

invinsible, no such thing.

responsible attitude, most have, but it is the minority that arent, that the older generation seems to put on the news and tv.

i wont say am an angel with a 'line instead of wings, but i workd too hard and sacrifiased too many thing to own my r33!

i couldnt picture my self needing to do 180kmph, jst for the sake of it.

theres a time and place this things can be done, out of the public roads.

tracks and drag stripes....

21, reasinable but 26.. hell NO!

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
