I have been having so much trouble getting rims for my NA R33 that i am now considering a 5 stud conversion.

I have made some enquires and been told that the labour would cost around $3-400 but that i would need to source the parts myself as it is not worth the trouble for the shop to do so.

can anyone in Perth source the parts required? obviously i will need some standard GTS-t rims to drive my car after the swap :) but other than that what else is required?

has anyone in Perth had this done? and if so do you know anyone that will source and install the parts for you?

i was looking at doing this much further down the track but due to a lack of good 4 stud rims i may have to do so sooner...

any advice appreciated, i have done a search and had a look through but not seen any complete info in WA.

dude why dont you buy the wheel spacers that will convert your wheels from 4 stud to 5

like you get a spacer its about 1" thick or less or more as it is a spacer

its like a hub extension

so it bolts to your existing hub via the 4studs

and then has 5 studs protruding from it so that now you can use gtst or s15 wheels

i know in the eastern states you can get them from autobahn or somethng.. but not sure in perth who stocks them

They are na skylines there will not be much hurting going on . A Smart thing to do would be to get gts-t struts for the front, which you would get nice 4 pot caliper brakes etc. And for the rear get the complete gtst diff disk to disk, then you would get lsd. You could probably get that in total for around 1k if you look around (IE forums of people wrecking their lines, MrMayfem , Hyperdrive, Dsturbd are also some other sobs that carry quality gear cheap) the labour to change these parts over would be cheap enough you will also get enhanced handling and breaking.

I think my gts already has lsd... doesnt it kym ?

i know i lay 2 big blackies etc... and one wheel doesnt spin first then the other....

and u aint seen the way i drive have ya wagon :D

ive been able to scare a few people with turbo cars ehehe (having ure car setup for track style is da bomb)

fair enough having lsd already will make it easier to sell to s13 types if they want to keep their 4stud. however.

Best Quarter Mile: 15.872 @ 144.69kph

Aint scaring anyone.

hmm... not sure about the hub adaptors due to the strain.

i'd like to keep my skyline all motor for something different, seeing as i have ~127kw atw and looking to get a bit more later, the upgraded brakes and LSD would be a nice addition.

Hyperdrive said its too much trouble to get the parts so they won't source them but the labour is cheap enough.

thanks for the info, i'll have to look into what i need to get and how i can source the parts.

    • Welcome back mate ,I also joined in the early 2000's , since then I have been in and out a few times depending if I had a skyline in the garage.  I have the another one now , so signed up and back with the SAU team.
    • I used "different strokes for different folks" quite pointedly as honestly, there is no wrong when it comes to choosing what you like.  I always day dreamed about flappy paddles with fast shifts in a sporty RWD Turbo and to me the sound and feel of it cutting through gears in a steady stream is exciting, engaging, and keeps the car better balanced - I *also* like h-patterns, but I find them more engaging and fun in a nice hoonable peaky NA thing.  Type-R Integra/old school NA rotary, things that are raw and need all the rpm where picking the gear and getting it sky high is part of the engagement of the whole thing despite the fact that they probably need closer ratios and faster shifts even more than a 3l turbo thing haha
    • If I wasn't allowed or really had the desire to visit China it would probably fit in my carry on, but I have no desire, Japan would be nice during Cherry Blossom time though I might need to chat to Jackie about that, that should actually be an easy conversation though as she is currently talking about another cruise, cruise ship to Japan, a week in Japan to see the sights, then cruise home I may even be able to find those OEM NC Recaro seats over there that I cannot find here 🤔
    • What do you mean?  In between the two I shared?  They're the same boost   This will be insane.   A mate has a GTSt with a 9:1 RB30/25 with Tomei 256 cams and a Borg S362SX-E that is already a beast from the basement but has a stock 5 speed and will probably get a ZF8 one day.  After the G35 900 RB26 setup I'd be lying if the topic of "Wtf would a divided G35 be like on this thing?" idea hadn't come up - you'd definitely want a wide boost control range setup with it, as even with the less responsive and potent S361 we're having to ramp boost in from very low levels in the early gears.
    • ZF8 is faster, wider ratio spread, better in every way. I do not dispute this. But I have brain damage and I want the feeling of shifting gears. To me the extra work is fun, but I daily an automatic and in the US like 90+% of cars are automatic so a manual transmission is an "exotic" experience. If I want an automatic I've driven an F80 M3 with DCT more than a few times and it's incredibly capable but it's emotionally vacant to me.
