Al
ANY COLOUR AS LONG AS IT IS BURGUNDY As most of you know, i am respraying my car. I was extremely keen on the "Candy Apple Red", but when i compared a sample near my car it looked a little pinkish . This pinkish can be eliminated by using a custom colour. My delema is: 1/ My car is first and formost a street car, secondly a track car, thirdly and a fair bit back a "show car". So i think driving this on the weekends and occasionally going to track days will cause a few chips, etc. 2/ It is almost impossible to blend in a custom colour, should i need to touch up the paint in the future or someone hits me. Thus will never be the same and will need to repaint the whole car. I have started to think it would be a lot better (read: smarter) to repaint it factory colour, maybe with a little more metalics, or even choose another burgundy colour from a different make/model car. Anyone has any ideas which make/model has the deepest, brightest metalic burgundy on the market (also need year if possible)? Ant97GTR
Al, If you didn't take your car on country cruises or track days I'd say paint it a custom colour. However country ozzie roads + 100kmh(+) speeds tend to be pretty hard on paintwork (just look at my front bar LOL). I'd either stick with the fact. colour or pick a factory colour from another car. As for factory burg. colours on other cars, to be honest not many stick out....I think toyota have one in their camry range. saff_cossie
Had a friend in a similar situation who was going to go for Candy Apple Red on his old beetle he had restored. At the last moment he changed it and we ended up with Metallic Morrello Cherry. Awesome colour and a fair bit deeper than Candy Apple, nearer burgundy. someonestolecc
You may have considered this already but try looking at motorbike paint colours as well. Quite a few nice bikes with burgundy/red (ie. ducatti?) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66904-what-colour/#findComment-1245131 Share on other sites
Jamezilla
I'd go with a factory colour from another car. Is best of both worlds: Custom looking Skyline, not a nightmare to maintain. Will keep my eyes peeled for nice burgudy colours - Euros and Lexus might be a good start point... NS2500
Why burgundy? I always liked that XR Red from a couple of years ago, had some tough name. But yeah, nice bright red with big yellow calipers! adznight
Just do what I did, use the factory colour and add more pearl and metalic. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66904-what-colour/#findComment-1245887 Share on other sites

Al
I actually saw an older model Accord that was burgundy, the burgundy paint actually looked pretty good. Will follow it up, thanks Troy. ylwgtr2 said: cassis red pearl Honda code R82P Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66904-what-colour/#findComment-1246038 Share on other sites
Al
Greg: I have seen red on a R33 and i truely prefer burgundy, also do not want to go for a completely different colour. Thanks . Adz: I will be changing the metalic, as most factory paints use "micro" metallics i am going a size bigger to "course". Adding a pearl will be a biatch of a thing to match, should i need a touch up in the future. Was keeping an eye out today and saw a few of colours i need to chase up: 1/ AU Falcon - Ford came out with two burgundys for this model so i need to find the nicer one. 2/ Honda Accord (older model) - As stated on an earlier post. 3/ Toyota Corrola/Accent (New Model) 4/ R32 GTR Burgundy with bigger metalic flakes Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66904-what-colour/#findComment-1246087 Share on other sites

Oosh
Bass Junky said: Matt Black That's right, and use some sort of heavy-duty paint (e.g. factory floor stuff) and put it on with a roller! In all seriousness, find a colour put one of the big four ( Commodore / Falcon / Camry / Magna ) that is to your liking, get them to a bit more pearl and metallic and make sure you write down those quantities. Can you e-mail me some pics : alancalleja_au@yahoo.com.au Thanks Mate I knew with 99% certainty that was going to be your question, the other 1% hoped you had seen something similar! We painted it about 5 1/2 years ago and lost contact (he is back in the UK). I can see if I can find some online pics of it somewhere as it was quite popular. Run to the Sun is the big VeeDub thing over there so I will have a look round that. Was a fantastic shade. I seem to remember it having something to do with either Amercian vehicles (cars/bikes) or beetles. Will see if I can find something but I am sure it was not a custom colour. predator
just get another factory colour.. preferably off a ford or holden.. so any shop can mix it in future cheaply.. in fact, why bother painting it at all.. once it's painted you might hit a wall or something Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66904-what-colour/#findComment-1246178 Share on other sites
