LOL, that session with the yellow flag was when i knocked out my fastest lap:(  Considering i went slow thru the woolshed and lukey, im hoping there was at least two seconds lost there.

I was gun shy the hotter the day got, so kept revs down and brakes meant i was going off driving at 8/10s, so didnt bother with 10/10.  Car is at Race Brakes now getting the shagged master cylinder fixed:thumbsup:

I heard the guy in the white evo winging to someone after that session that a grey skyline came up behind with lights flashing and overtook him while under the yellow

 .... yeh i have an idea.

I came around Lukey at about 7/10s, thing is i wasnt expecting a car to be doing about 60km/h on the other side of the crest:( SO i jumped on the pedal to try and wash off speed but it was easier and safer to just dive down the inside rather then try and wash off 40-50km/h thru a sweeper covered with kitty litter.

I apologised to the guy, but the flashing lights thing was to be sure that he saw me:(

Out of interest, whislt i appreciate there is a no overtaking under yellows, i always thought you were to reduce your speed to a safe and controllable speed. No fault of the guy in the Lancer, he was driving to what he thought was a safe speed...and it appears i was still carrying too much corner speed, but what if the car in front is driving really slow, are you able to safely creep by?

I think it was Ash that saw the Porsche spin on that corner, then me go thru up the inside of the Lancer, he was going a lot slower then me and other cars? I actually thought he was the spinner re-joining the track?!?!

Anyway, at the end of the day i was the one in the wrong, i apologised, and ill wear the tool badge:(

LOL...But it sux i blew the radiator hose off the next lap, well and truly shooting my confidence to sh1t:)

Jack, that's fantastic mate.  Anything under 2.00 at the Island is very fast.

Also, thanks for the help getting my car around while I was away.  I wouldn't have got the Island without your assistance.

Cheers.

Aaron - No probs about moving your car around, if you need it done again I'm only a phone call away!!!

And to be honest I'm not sure what's more impressive, you reeling of a 1:50 on your first day out with the GTR, or Frank doing a blistering 1:45 to break the club record....

You should be stoked with that time and it will only get better!!! I say watch out Snowy and Frank!!!!!

Go fill out the details. We need to get that silly New South Welshman in his rental car off our list!

And a special mention to Anthony (heartbrkr) who clocked his fastest lap in the passenger session. And here I was getting in trouble for going to fast! LOL.

I must have been doing something wrong that day.

Ran wide at turn 4 the first lap, then spun the car 180 at lukey on 2nd lap. A nice confidence breaker =)

After that i took things a bit easier. Cruising the track at 100-120 on street rubber. Those two tight corners i had to brake down 60-80 to have any chance. Car just understeered, had to practice feathering the throttle to get the thing turning.

Still happy i managed to hit 180km on the straight, dont know if the car has limiter still. Doesnt really matter as once you run out of dial, you dont know what your doing. Didnt push it, since i had to wash off 80km to take the 1st corner comfortably.

Then once i heard they had taken the timing device from my car, wasn't too fussed about speed. Cheese and Chalk was expression for Street vs Race rubber. At that point didnt feel a need to prove anything with the rest of you.

Might have been nice to be put in slower group =) ... Sorry to Andrew if i gave a poor impression by saying i didnt enjoy the day. Had a lot of trouble controlling my car through tight turns, which while challenging wasnt the reason i wanted to drive on a high speed circuit.

Speaking of which i have some crummy mobile phone video of Andrew blowing past me 200km while i puzzle over what the Green flag ment.

Anyway, copped a lot of shit for coming last on the day, running slow, etc

Sorry about splitting early. Ran out of smokes and heat was getting to me, went for a swim.

Actually, having been to 3 track days, starting to wonder about all the skylines and wrex's i see on the street with monster exhausts, lots of mods, making heaps of noise.

Now when i see them i just say to myself, why dont you take it on the track? See what you and car is capable of. Reving out first gear, racing the car up to 80km doesnt mean much. Totally different game.

After hearing about Snowman's little mishap, i just think back to how difficult it would have been for everyone who doesnt have ABS to fall back on.

My brother took his non abs, FF capri to the track a few years ago, and had a ball. The thing ran out of puff on the straights however, but he never left the track. Believe he came off when he went to Calder however.

Anyway, what do i find in the mail last week? They (PI) sent him an invite to come for $130. Guess who is asking to borrow my car now ? =p

Anyway, forgot to thank everyone i met on the day. Prolly see you'll at the meetings with any luck.

So who is giving you sh1t about being slowest? I say fark em:thumbsup:

In my eyes the main point of these days is to have fun. Second is to get to know your car that little bit more and appreciate that doing the same speed on the street is protracted suicide:)

Thirdly its about getting the car home in 1 piece, so on what grounds are ppl giving you sh1t:( If you happento string a decent lap time together awesome, irrespective the only thing regarding lap times of any real substance is if you are improving on your own lap times.

Did i say fark the guys giving you cheek, it sh1ts me when ppl feel the need to knock others:(

At the end of the day...you should have bummed smokes off someone and sank cans with everyone Sat night rather then heading off early:)

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
