lol just read all 12 pages of this thread in 1 sitting

very interesting... i already have a switch in my 32r but i may upgrade to this as im looking at a bit of track work as well in the future.

the only problem i see is waiting 5sec (a very long time) to switch from 4wd to rwd, sometimes i want it instantly when the feeling comes over me, but then again i suppose i could just use my switch i already have for that... is there any way of making the hold time a little shorter like 2sec?

It also has 2 other modes which are 1) 2wd mode just like pulling the fuse in the R32 (and should only really be used in a R32). 2) A mode which allows little bias to the front wheels thereby letting you spin the rears very easily (although eventually the ATTESA intervenes and pulls the fronts in.)

Great sounding product, hope to invest my pennies into one of these in the upcoming months. ;)

Question tho, the two modes mentioned above, are these selected by paddling up and down, or do they require a special keystroke (hold both buttons, hold one button for longer etc) or have seperate switches altogether?

Also, first method, is this only using connection to ATTESA? or does the board have an output to a switch/relay that would in turn on/off the ATTESA's 'fuse' connection?

I ask because a switch method would also disable ABS(not necessarily bad), whereas I assume if direct to ATTESA would keep it enabled.

It is for a R32 GTR.

The no FWD mode is accessed holding down for 5 sec, the almost no FWD mode is the lowest level on the controller.

It is simple to adjust mid lap if you really do want 3 on one corner and 5 on another :D The no FWD mode turns off the ABS exactly the same as pulling the fuse.

There are currently no units available, and the last 10 are going to be build over the next few weeks.

After these last 10 we will not be able to make any more because there are no more boards available.

So.....if you want one of these, please post up your interest like Dan and Dave have, and I will offer them first come first served.

Sad to hear these are being finished Duncan. We used my one extensively during the Dutton Rally this year and is no doubt one of the toys that helped us win the event.

Even though for me I've had the transfer case done as well and we only ever consequently go as high as a setting of 2 - it still makes a big difference.

yeah these have really had some good results for race, rallies and good old track days over the years, including 2 Dutton rallies now :(

After some further investigation (actually counting them) I have 13 circuit boards left, so it will be the last lucky 13

To answer infamous_t's question (sorry to reply so late but for some reason i haven't been getting email notifications of this thread anymore) if you hold the up button for 3 secs you will get into this mode where it tricks the attessa computer into thinking it is going round a sharp corner and you will get plenty of rear wheel action, the 4wd drive is still active but it will not pull the front wheel drive in for about 20-30 metres of hard rear wheelspin

The two wheel drive mode is achieved on these controllers by tricking the attessa into thinking there is a problem with the lateral G-Sensor by outputing a voltage of less than 1.5V. The attesa computer then thinks there is a problem with the G-Sensor and puts itself into a limp home mode disabling the 4wd and the ABS. Not sure why the ABS is disabled as well but assume because the rear wheel sensors input to both the attesa and ABS that if a fault occurs anywhere in the loop it shuts both down, perhaps there is another reason.

I did not want to put any relay outputs on this controller (but could have easily many spare PIC ports available) because i wanted to keep it as small as possible and adding relay outputs means a transistor and resistors which take up valuable space. One of the objectives was to keep it as small as possible because a fellow who shall remain nameless wanted it to be undetectable during scrutineering hence the radio controll buttons to change modes and the led which would pass for a car alarm led.

I chose to put a delay on entering 2wd mode and almost 2wd mode because i did not want anyone to enter these modes by accident which could be very bad if you weren't ready for it on the race track or the road

Sorry to see it finish, it may not look too flash but it is small, unobtrusive, reliable and as others attest is very effective.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.   
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.

    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
