Damn I would have loved to watch Stacey and Paul run.

What was the best time for TWO-06L?

11.2 and it looks as though "our"..(read borrowed) box has sustained damage. I tried very hard not to break it but stock GTR boxes just dont cut it with this sort of power. Promise was shown with our set-up as 1.6 60' times were seen as well as 130+MPH.

Decent day for $25, pity the officials don't understand the rules :)

I still find it interesting how with such a wide variety of cars attending wed nite street meets that the majority of the "street cars" that race at these weekend major events have never been to a wed nite street meet.

Awesome day...even though I got a little roasted in the sun. Definately will be there for the next one :)

two.06l, your car looked and sounded awesome from the stands. Well done on the car and the times posted.

Great to see a heap of other Skylines out there posting up some good times as well. Congrats to everyone who competed.

BTW, did any of the rotaries end up breaking 7 secs? I had to leave just before 5pm, so I didn't get to see them run during the evening...

Morning ppl, nice to see many of you yesterday.

Yesterday was good for me as I could watch Pauly and Twoogle race. Twoogle was looking and sounding awesome, thanks Mason.

I had to say 'enough is enough' when at 8.00pm, after a full day of racing, Paul is still trying to find that elusive .2 of a sec. I did not want to be there at midnite pushing twoogle onto a trailer with a smashed gearbox.

Looking forward to Drag combat now as the new rules seems to really suit slow chick drivers like me. Start infront, and try and stay there, apply breaks before the finish line if in dought. STACE

ahhhh! now it makes sense! I was wondering what all the fast fours ricers were doing at Eastern Creek when there was a race meet on next door :)

Well done to all the SAUers who ran, it was a damn hot for racing yesterday :P

Awesome work everyone that raced and spectated

Great to see Abflug and Two06l smashing out some very low 11's, 2rismo smashing some very low 12's  and anyone else I forgot hahaha :)

Was good to get the car out on the track and meet some of you guys.

Did 11.2 with a 1.9 60 foot so we need more grip off the line. The down side to the day for me was breaking the HKS box. Hope i can get it fixed for Drag Combat.

Great day with some not so great times. Learnt a bit more about my setup (read: tyres) and will make some small changes for next time.

Was funny that my car went 12.3 @ 95mph though. That was worth a giggle - running 12.36 on a 12.40 dial-in wasn't so funny :) hehe...

Yes after doing 12.4-12.6's all day to then do a 12.3 whilst braking was quite impressive :(

Hope nobody had their car broken into. The little event organisers at the parking gates said that their were heaps of breakings and to let them know if their were any issues. My van was in 1 piece :)

I red WRX and a white VL Calais were stoeln from the car park at about 6pm last night. Quite a number of cars were broken into also. That was one of the first things that popped into my head when I parked my car - lack of security and the field of cars around that would be a thief's playground.

I was good to see a few people from SAU. Paul and Stacey, every time I went to the pits/staging lanes to say hello you weren't around. So I took some pics anyway. :D

Bad luck about the HKS box, abflug. Any idea what went wrong? Congrats on the 11.2.

Adrian, what did you change with the car to make it revert back to it's quicker running? Unlucky with the break out mate.

What was it with some races having different class cars running together? Looked like they were all over the place and hard to keep track of.

Overall, an excellent day and I look forward to drag Combat and Qld Jamboree. Hopefully there will be a few more Skylines racing.

Will post pics and videos tomorrow night.

Hey Mik, so much for the "You'll need 11's to qualify, low 11's" :D 16th qualifier in SR was 12.766!

NXTIME, only took two degrees timing out instead of 3. Everything felt better - the launch was marginally better, the burnout was better (finally) and the car was smooth as silk the whole run. I rushed into stage to try and put the 10.5 second rotary off and it worked. Cut a crappy light but then jumped on the brakes too late. The car sounded so smooth I wished i'd stayed into it. The time at half track was almot a tenth better than when I went 11.9 so I guess we'll see what happens next time.

More tyre pressure would have been good too. Bog central - even in 2nd. ;)

Adrian

2rismo I still think on your final run (where you broke out) that the rotary took longer than 20sec to stage. I was watching it carefully (hoping you would deliberately stage straight away to try and win that way, I know I would) and the starter had a stopwatch but he started it well after you had already staged and looked like he was hanging out until the rotary had staged.

Their was also another case where a guy in that white datsun 1200 with the blue nissan sticker on the side had video footage of him being held at the line for 48sec, yup they (wsid) really stuffed that up :D

I thought this would have been automatic with the timing system for that type of event rather than input from a person?

There was a number of instances where the rules were applied when they clearly shouldn't have, and vice versa. However, I did notice that the starter would not allow a car to stage because there were track officials checking the track after a pass.

The biggest brain explosion by officials in my eyes was Craig Melbourne's blue Mazfix RX3. In the elimations of Oz Mod, he was on a solo pass, and as he always does, he ripped the biggest burnout of the day (past the start line) and the starter decided to be anal and kicked him out. The crowd reacted by going from cheering and clapping Craig to jeering and booing the starter. he did let him run but no tiume was given and he was eliminated, ironically, on a solo pass!).

    • Yes to both! Yes to standard ECU and tune, but exhaust is aftermarket. Unsure on brand. Actually have it sitting in at my desk haha! I have to set it up on my laptop but this is a great next step, will do. So I generally try to shift before 4.5K RPM most times. I largely don't do a lot of high-rev driving, but I will take it up to red 1-2x a week max, as I know the occasional "Italian tune-up" is good for these cars.  Oh wow, is this way better than what I'm getting. Does this mean there's a good chance I have an issue?   Thanks for all the info so far guys.
    • Old Son, did you re-use the Holden ABS in the new shell or try a different module?
    • Yeah, nah. I had the actuator rod off it today. The arm will not move at all. Neither out, nor in. Yeah, you'd think so, but I've been thinking about that. Even when the actuator rod fell all the way off at the beginning of this saga, it would build more boost and faster in lower gears than it would in higher gears, and you'd think that that was the opposite of what should happen. But I strongly suspect that there is a thing with the gearing getting the revs to rise faster, that there must be some transient effect with the gas flow rate rising quickly, that you don't get with the more steady state case of the higher gears. Keep in mind - the gate is not shut in either of my weirdnesses. So things are not "normal". We normally think about a turbo spooling up (below the wastegate target) with the gate shut. I have all sorts of mental models running now where the gate is a little bit open, and having it stuck open allowing gas out while it should be going through the turbine has all sorts of weird effects (in these mental models). I'm thinking in the higher gears, the ex mani pressure builds to the point where enough gases spill out the wastegate to just prevent the pressure rising much more at all, or just creeping up, all the whole the revs are increasing and getting closer to the point where a gear shift becomes necessary.
    • Is it possibly wastegate actuator itself is sticking, or even the rod to flapper? Otherwise I reckon things are getting a bit rusty/worn   Also odd it won't boost in 3rd to 5th, but will in 1st, I'd expect the other way around with it slightly open as there's more time on your way to redline for it to spin up
    • Does anyone know ow what these two plugs are for and if they should be unplugged? Just put the dash back together and can't remember if these were plugged in before or unplugged! (Blue and white plugs) 🤦🏽‍♂️
