ganadors in cf

i don't think we can match that or either our price would likely be similar which isn't much point..

but i guess more to the point whats stopping u from buying it?

is it price? performance? not quite the right design? not available in Aus?

i.e. why haven't u bought it from them, and why are you likely to participate in this group buy instead?

What Quink said.

A lot of ppl have expressed interests in composite parts, but some of them are already available. We are not in the game to offer super low cost items (we are not supercheap autos.....and we won't have cheesy commercials on TV). What we can offer is better quality engineered parts but not cheap as monkey labor. (We'll be quite happy to leave those to low tech companies).

We do like competition but we don't stand much of a chance against companies that feeds ppl who just wanted the cheapest "bling"available. We'll be competitive in terms of price vs quality/strength:weight ratio, but probably not price along.

I too would really like to know the answer of why haven't those who liked existing composite bonnet or boot bought one off the shelf?

how about an OEM CF SERIES 2 bonnet? they arent around anywhere! if you can get this, I'm interested mate!

That would be R32? GTR or GTS?

I think that's what we'll start on, body parts for R32 since there is less parts available and we could make an already light car (compared to R33 R4) even lighter.

still wanted r33 dash peices

will send mine for you to keep in exchange for cf replacement and cash adjustment

any idea on cost for dash replacement? rough is not concrete i know just need an idea because i have access to a place that will apply cf skin over origional parts. :P

I'm talking about the R33 GTST Series 2 here... :P

Price, havent bought bonnet yet coz im a bargain shopper. Just shoping around basicly, always pays to ask. Find the lowest price then buy it :)

If you guys cant do it cheaper, no probs i understand, mass production always cuts down on the bottom line. But yeah like i said, always pays to ask.

Can you do C/F aircon vents? (not just slats or facia, but entire mechanism)

Not to put a dampner on things, but I hope you guys realise that changing body panels will probably involve engineering your car if you care about the legalities...

LW.

To answer your "why havnt you purchased an existing cf part" question....

I've been looking into cf bonnets for a while and i've always found that either...

a) the ones that suit my car dont suit my tastes

and

B) the ones that suit my tastes dont suit my car (ie its an s2 bonnet and i drive an s1).

If your willing to make on order one off custom parts then i'd happily do alot of business with you. this might even help you out as if you guys make reusable molds, if ppl like the design you made for me you can reproduce it for a known ammount.

Now as for 30m rolls of prepreg.... I'm sure that if u can estimate how many components you could make out of a 30m roll you could find the demand to use it.... for instance....

Lets say you could make say 20 bonnets out of a 30m roll (thats a random number just for example) or 10 bonnets and 5 boots or something similar then a custom part group buy could be organised and logically priced....

eg

we're getting 30m's of prepreg, get yr orders in and if we get enough demand to use the whole roll we'll go with it.

however if its a man power issue (cant make the parts fast enough before the roll goes stale) then its another issue, although u could factor the cost of this waste in aswell....

eg... we have enough man power to make x ammount of prepreg or y ammount of parts, the waste costs z so there fore we'll spread the value of z over the cost of all parts produced.

yes we'd pay a premium but these would be premium parts no?

Now if only i could find someone who can get there hands on brushed aluminum sheeting.... i know a lad who swears he could make a full alu dash replacement given the materials.

CF Parts that seem to be in demand

Boots

bonnets

panels (inc doors)

CA box's

dash components

god i tihnk if u said "anything u want in cf justorder" the crowd would go wild

it just takes a little creative thinking.

=) It'll be the best or it won't happen at all. At the moment, i'm making bike parts to sell, cos bike parts are smaller and is easier for me to start.

About the prepreg question/problem.. it's not so much of a issue buying and using 30 meters of prepreg, but the set up cost... autoclave, high temperature molds, freezer and etc.. we are talking a few hundared grand worth of equipment. not possible at the moment.. but that's the path I would like to go.

and coming from motorsport back ground.. i didn't usualy worry so much about the "glossy" finish. Most items are painted or presented in matt raw finish... so during the last month or so... i've been battling on how to get a super gloss while trying to maintain light weight.. WHICH is a farken hard thing..

Do you have an engineering expertise or resources?  A c/f prop shaft would be uber nice :)

LW.

I probably can make one.. but will take me ages and cost heaps... They are specialists that do carbon drive shafts. Just buy a Race Tech magazine and you will find lots of adverts on it.

To be honest, I can probably make anything.. the question is how long will it take me to perfect it and how much money is it going to cost =) :band: :tomato:

Hey guys, just out of curiosity, any of u have a spare R33 Boot?

or a cheapie one to sell me one..

would like to get started making moulds for this..

either that or go to a wrecker and find one there for an over inflated price.

  • 1 month later...

Nope, still going ahead, sorry for the lack of update, but we're currently making bike parts. We have also bought an R33 rear boot lid, and will start building that up soon, make a mould and make sure things work, and other things like finalising brand name and logo's and that.

Other than that people have been busy with their day jobs/ exams.. but dont worry we're still going ahead :P

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
