The question gets asked so often that I actually have the spiel ready to cut'n'paste!

In my heap is:

Source: Clarion HXD2 / Alpine CVA-1000E / Toshiba SD-1300

Processors: Rane EQX / Crystal Line driver

Amps: Zapco Reference 750.2 (3), Zapco Reference 1100.1 (1), Zapco Reference 360.4 (1)

Splits: Rainbow Reference 6" midrange / Morel Supremo (main) tweeter / Boston Z (ambient) tweeter / Boston FX4 center

Rear: Supra 6"

Sub: Resonant Engineering XXX12

Interconnects: Zapco SymbiLink balance / QED / Streetwires / Stinger

Battery: Optima D34M / Stinger SPV1000

Here are a couple of photos of it half finished.. :)

I want :

Heh.

I have something that looks stock compared to Marty's setup.

HU: Pioneer 7650

Front: Focal JM Labs KVP2 6.5" splits (stock crossovers/woofers/tweeters)

Rear: Pioneer Carrozerria (yes stock!) 3-way 6x9 (turned right down and tagged for replacement)

Boot: noname 12" sub (salvaged for the "meantime" and tagged for replacement)

Amps: Pioneer gmx414, Non-branded amp for subs (It actually has no markings on it)

Sound dead: Some roadkill and some stuff Marty sent me (can't remember name)

Wires n stuff: Stinger/Streetwires

I wish: ID max 10" running from an audison 1.400 and some semi decent rear fill.

Still - I think I've done ok for the money spent and I think with a tune and a tweak with a decent sub it would be alright.. Pity I don't know how to tune :)

I work in car audio but I have about the most basic install ever!

Head Deck - Sony Xplod CDX-4800X (bought it years ago when I thought Sony was the best)

Front - Infinity Kappa Components

Rear - Infinity Kappa 6" 2 way

To do - Get a top spec Pioneer head unit

Get an amp or two, poss Infinity or Alpine to run a sub and components

Get a sub, unsure on size but will proably go for Infinity Kappa or Kappa Perfect

Boring eh. I am usually cruising with mates so would rarely crank it, so its not a huge priority.

So far (as seen in Pyroay's SQ winning EL XR6 Turbo)

Focal Utopia 3 way splits

Pioneer DEX-P88R Headunit

Pioneer DEQ9200 DSP

Still deciding on amps, rear fill and a decent sub (currently just a pov Pioneer 12"). Probably chuck some ambient tweeters up and put the Utopias in custom door pods. All still in the planning stage as I am yet to pick up my skyline.

To ALL,

HEAD UNIT Necvox with 7"in dash tv-dvd/tv/player

2 x 5.8" screens fitted in front head rests

1 x 5.8" screen in boot(to be replaced with larger when car back on the road)

(4 in TOTAL)

Fr MB QUARTZ comp 6.5" splits

Rr CROSSFIRE 6.0" splits

CROSSFIRE CFQ-202 Equalizer

CROSSFIRE TEK-150.2 Amp

CROSSFIRE BMF 6000.1 Digital Amp

2x 10" CROSSFIRE Comp Subs with full boot fit out(no spare wheel!)

All panels sound deadend and all fitted with top quality cabling.

Powered by oddesy battery, also fitted with in built power inverter

GME TX3400 uhf custom fitted into roof

Fitted with Boomerang Alarm

This has been tested at 137db which is not overly high, however the system has been built with quality of sound rather than doof doof and stays crystal clear all the way thru the range....

Regards,

SKYLINE... :headspin:

Infinity 6 channel Amp

Infinity 6 inch Splits (front)

Infinity 6 inch 2 ways (rear)

Infinity 10 inch Sub (just in box)

Clarion head unit (MP3)

It sounds good with out poping my ears, not bad for abit over $1200 :spank: Mates rates!!!

Sorry dont know model spec's off the top of my head!

Damn guys you seem to have some nice stuff.

Is there really THAT much difference with a sound processor or do you only really need that if you're running a surround setup?

Well I was going to grab the 32 band EQ as well but thought it was a bit of overkill for me atm :spank: Not only does the DSP do surround but channel timing etc etc a lot more options to play with :headspin:

Sounds like all you guys have some very NOICE systems in your rides, can't wait to get mine all sorted out and installed and on the road so i got a car to drive again :)

eurovox cassette deck

kmart 2" speakers on the dash

**** smiths 4" 2ohm speakers in the rear doors

and a sony discman with a tape in adapter

pauly man you got us beat hands down, i surrender

Well obviously you guys have previous issues with each other

Anyhow.. mine is in the car now, its nothing flash, but better than factory, and better than a few systems I've heard:

JVC G-405 mp3/cd unit

Jaycar 250w rms monoblock amp

Alipine SWS-1241D, DD 12" sub

Custom 12" subbox I built for above (too big for r32 though :()

Focal Access 165A's

I would like to dust off my very old Sony amp (2x 75wRMS) and run a pair of the speakers, rather than the factory unit at some point.. its powering my rear computer speakers atm  Also want to get a pair of fairly cheap speakers for rear fill (probably the new jaycar's when they come out), and get a smaller subbox, so i can fit it in the boot rather than back seat!

That will do, I have a lot of other things on the car I want to spend the money on..

Too much bass gives me a headache anyhow, and doesn't really suit about 80% of the music I listen to.

Marty wins!

Im a little suss about theifing barstards atm so I wont put mine up as yet. But its in the progress of getting semi finished by the end of May. Only thing missing will be the boot install, thats a fair bit more money and I want it done at the same time as retrim.

Good to see people using infinity and MB Quart gear!

mine:

Blaupunkt Bremen MP74

Blaupunkt ODc660 6" components

GTA5350 5 ch amplifier

CDC A03 10 cd stacker

TSW300 12" sub

DXV sat nav

al neatly integrated back into the factory controls of a 96 combo van.

the daily driver is a different thing altogether..

    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
    • I was able to get some underside photos while the car was on the ramp The suspension is all Altezza/IS200/IS300 so getting part's will hopefully be less of a headache
