hmmm I just watched that video clip and all I'll say is how about the chicks in the extra fluffy boots and tops? fully sick. I am going to get some for my girlfriend cause those chicks looked hot.

oh, and is it any wonder cops pick on people in skylines or lebs for that matter? you have a bloke standing in front of (i presume) his car - a skyline - abusing police. his three mates also abuse and ridicule the police and then declare that they are lebanese and that 'lebs are the best'... hmm.

ehhhhhhhhhh i agree with 2GUUP2. I'm Assyrian, living in an area thats like a Nursing-Home full of old people. 5minutes from my house is BROADY. The second i drive near there, i either get followed by cops or i get pulled over. Best thing to do is pull over into a house and turn your car off so they think thats where you live.

DON'T FORGET... There's good and bad in every natio, you cant just judge a book by it's cover!

Guest mark32

when i was younger i used to get hassled by the cops in my modified HQ Holden (I'm talking quite a few years ago now) some of the cops particularly the highway patrol could be assholes but most were ok and most of the time i was doing something wrong so I deserved it. But now I am older they dont give me a 2nd look even though i drive a GT-R, so for sure they pick on young drivers and always have done.

BUT I still get hassled by lebo's, I was in a McDonalds carpark in my work car just minding my own business eating lunch when 3 lebs beside me had finished eating they just threw all the rubbish out of the window, i didn't say anything cause i knew it would only lead to trouble. When I got out to put my rubbish in the bin they sarted to abuse me and I know if i said anything back these heroes would have given it to me, but they're only tough when they're in a gang, one out they wouldn't say are word.

If lebs have got a bad reputation thats because most of them deserve it, they think they are above the law and everyone else, thats why the cops hassle them because like the rest of the community they are sick of them, I maybe prejudiced against them but it's hard not to be when they act like they do.

everytime i went out in town on a thursday night, there'd be groups of every natio, the cops would come along, check over some aussie cars, then tell them to vacate etc, no problems,

arrive at the leb group (mind u im very good friends with some of them but do not agree with what they do), as soo as a cop drives near them all u hear are guys makin siren noises " fkn cops" etc like whats the need for that, 1 group leaves and the cops barely do shit, like grow up, no wonder they hate u, when the majority do this, then start throwing stuff at them...ive had my car searched, interior stripped out numerous amount of times , i made them put it all perfectly back in no matter how long it took, i didnt scream, say dumb shit, i got nothin to hide, i got no drugs in my car so who cares let them waste some of their time, 99% of the time they just spoke to me nicely although sometimes a bit arrogant but never too rough especially when they found out they cant get me for shit coz engineer'd and obviously no illegal shit in the car...

car enthusiasts are never goin to win over the cops thats just a fact of life so the way i look at it unless they get violent or make extreme racist comments i just let it slide, coz no matter what it will never change, its not a point of showing weakness to a cop its just usin ur brain and common sense

ben...

mark32: i agree with u, as soon as i get to a cruise spot or somethin, im gettin eyes down hardcore and being with my gf and girls yellin out pick up lines and the like it doesnt make me feel very safe especially when there's 20 of them wtf can i do...

like said if they wonder why cops pick on them that is exactly why, i think they are the ones on a power trip 99% of the time and should just get over it like everyone else seems to do

ben...

First of all, I'm not lebanese, nor am I an arab (that may seem hard to believe but i'm being honest, LOL)

In highschool, it is continually stressed that "Generalisations are bad" or "Do not generalise." I see this as the most common flaw in a lot of arguments here. Yes, SOME lebanese individuals tend to behave in an inappropriate manner, as do SOME aussies and asians, etc. So, yeah, the lebanese guys in the ACA report were idiots full stop, but not all lebanese people are.

The media is always going to be against the enthusiasts. It's all about ratings. A story about car hoons would get plenty, as would a story about disgruntled lebanese youth, but what about a combination of both?? bingo. It is necessary to understand that the media will ALWAYS be biased towards its own viewpoint.

I can vouch for the fact that the police are quite troublesome. Some are good guys, but the majority are just annoying. This where it is good to know your rights (as a law student I've come to learn of them :(.) Basically they can't search you. You do not have to answer any questions besides, your name, details etc. They cannot search your car, unless you pose an obvious risk to society (get-away car) or if they are looking for a radar detector.

The bottom line is that racial vilification is unacceptable, as is crude behaviour towards the police, moreover, these side issues do not help the Japanese Import car scene, in fact, they are detrimental to society as a whole.

The fact that everyone is so scared of stepping on racial toes is the reason that things have gotten so out of hand. I've got arabic mates and some of the shit they do makes me want to see them deported. If you look at the country which they come from you realise why they behave as they do, because it is acceptable over there. Even second generation ones have had their morals passed down from their parents.

Don't get me wrong, i don't think every single one is bad, but i do think that it is a majority simply because it stems from their origins. In most cases what they think is fine behaviour, i think is pretty wrong.

Maybe we should have a giant intervention. :aroused: :)

:bs!:

That's just stupid. What do you mean 'because it is acceptable over there.'

That sort of behaviour isn't accepted anywhere.

Also, morals passed down? WTH. Equally as stupid.

LoL And that sort of behaviour stemming from their origins?

That's just like me saying that all Aussies are convicts, because their morals have been passed down from their past generations and stem from their origins. Doesn't sound well thought does it?

Your statement lacks common sense and substantiation. You should really think before you speak, or in this case, type.

lol your argument was "in school they teach us that generalisations are bad" Genius.

Come stay in sydney for a while and see how you feel.

I also think theres a bit of a difference between 200 years and 15 years dude.

You can keep your opinion for all i care but don't go spouting your holier than thou bs.

I'm going to watch big brother uncut hahahah catch yas

:flamed: Yeah I did say in school.....the whole point was to show how simple it is, that even children know not to generalise. But unfortunately, it was beyond your capacity to understand that. Doesn't matter, one day you'll learn to understand simple facts.

Don't feel bad though, society needs stupid ppl like yourself. :kick: :flamed:

Ali,

While I think your comments are based on some experience, the Cops can and will search you if they wish.

The NSW government passed a sneaky knife law 2 years ago that allow police to search for knives without reason. This is a total violation of our civil rights, but the law exists.

The Cops use this law to find knives on suspects(anyone), and if they find anything else then bad luck.

I think that what police are doing to "lebs and imports" is only a knee jerk reaction to public and media pressure.

On TV we see young P platers in import cars spashed all over the news involved in serious accidents, caused by speeding in powerful cars.

We also see gangs of ethnic youths driving imports and acting like tools, by street racing and causing trouble.

The Police are only doing what they are told to do. Cops are told by senior command that "hoons", "Lebs" and import drivers are targets and to keep the pressure on.

Now while there are many innocent import drivers being harrassed and defected, I bet that the police pressure is starting to work.

If you know your car is defectable, you either fix it or accept the defect knowing you are a target. My bet is many people are fixing their defects now to avoid the stories we read on here every day.

I also think that they bad PR the Lebanease community are receiveing will also cause pressure to be put on these "bad lebs" from their peers and famlies to stop being d!ckheads. Because at the end of the day the cops will win.

They will not let up until the public side of their antics cease and the cops find their next big issue.:flamed:

Firstly, I agree with you mostly.

I heard about the knives law being passed in NSW....but I'm not too familiar it, as I'm based in Vic.

Yes, the police are responding to media pressure, but don't you think that their responce is either non-existent some days and excessive the next. There needs to be a balance.

I understand your point regarding defects and such, but you must take into account that some of the things people are being defected for these days are absolutely ridiculous, in most instances (from my experience and that of my mates) the police officer will check the car for everything and then defect over something minor, as if they're trying to display their power, or authority. NSW and Victoria are the two most over-regulated and policed states in the world, so maybe the authorities should just tone it down a little.

Yes the police do only what they are told to do, plus a lot more. BTW, not all police, as some i've come across are really nice, but unfortunately, most are pricks.

The cops can continue to target imports for defects, but in the end, I can't see people refraining from modifying their cars, lebanese or aussie.

Lol what a mad keyboard warrior.

Sadly i'm not as stupid as you may think. Sadly; because people like you need to believe that anyone that thinks the same way i do is stupid, simply because you cannot conceive that people may share different opinions. It makes a dictatorship easier, shout down any opposition.

My opinion is not only based on bad encounters, but on what i know of my various mates who are arabic, and their mates. Like i said, these guys are good to me, i consider some of them my close friends, but the morals they have seem like they're from a different planet from mine.

At 19 i doubt you're in a position to be the most wordly and informed guy to be speaking, at that neither am i, but at least i'll admit it.

Just realised too that you're doing a law degree which means that you're learning to be a professional argumentative bullshit artist (sorry another generalisation), so i'm not intent on changing your opinion, mainly because i don't care, but also because i don't really want to. You're entitled to your opinion as is everyone else on this server, and unlike you i won't go calling you a stupid ignorant moron for believing the way you do. If you read through this thread you'll see there are plenty with different opinions.

on a side note thats a pretty funny jpeg babylon.

Anyway back to the topic at hand, these personal slanging matches have even less to do with the original topic than what it was turning into anyway.

ps how good was big brother uncut.....well not that good but much better than normal big brother!!! :)

Having arab mates (yes they're not arabic, that's the language they speak) with bad morals still doesn't support your belief that this behaviour has been passed down from previous generations from lebanon (where this behaviour is fully acceptable ofcourse..)

It's good to see that you don't want to change my opinion, because I haven't tried changing yours, I've just told you whats wrong with it.

Everything i have said relates directly to the topic, in case it is beyond your recollection, the topic IS about Lebanese youth and imports.

LoL, don't like Lawyers? Tough luck, you're gonna need them and you ARE going to pay their excessive fees as well, whether you like it or not. :(

All I'm trying to say that the behaviour of the Lebanese youth in the ACA report was obviously becuase of reasons, other than cultural upbringing. If you feel that this is not the case, that's great, after all you ARE entitled to your own opinion, no matter how fallacious and uninformed it is.

i agree, lebs go through alot, but they dont need to act the way they do calling the cops 'cops' and singing it out loud, that is just asking for trouble, and it is giving you all a bad name.

They ask for it. I don't feel bad for them. Whats worse they make other around them look just as bad and just as ridiculous. :kick:

ACA do this every 12 months or so, I heard through the grapevine that the media are about to really focus on all us 'hoooooooooooons' and give us a hard time. Might just be the tip of the iceeeeeberg we are seeeeing.

We're an easy target now with the recent car accidents being publicized, evryone knows those $2 shows need easy targets to scare their captive elderly and single mum audiences.

*HOMER* "But he's evilllllllllll Marge! Just listen to the music!"

TLDR - recommended engine shops for RB rebuild.
    • Gday Thought it was about time I started a build thread! As expected this project has snowballed into a huge financial liability, but unless you’re strong willed and responsible, it’s not a surprise. Background -  My first turbo car was an R32 GTS-4, got my full license and then totalled my Au Falcon a week later, so while trying to sell my RMZ450 dirtbike to buy another car a bloke offered to swap the R32 which at the time I felt like I was ripped off but looking back and seeing prices of those now ($40kish) it was a good deal, I didn’t know enough about these cars to appreciate what I had so sold it before the RB20 blew up. Between here and there, out of 12 cars I’ve owned the note worthy ones are a V8 Lexus SC400 (soarer), a couple of XR6 Turbos and my beloved S15 which I had for about 3 years, picked it up for $12500, repairable write off but she was fine, gun metal grey/pewter and bone stock/unmolested until I got my hands on it. Ended up spending about the value of the car and 280kw, 2 demerit points by the time I got defected and sold it for $14500 (also $40kish in today’s market, rip) Fast forward to the present day, I’m in a much better position financially and daily an MQ Triton (great cars, pipe down Ranger Bois), I cruised marketplace and car sales for a few months looking for another R32, the best deal I could find was an absolute rust bucket half finished project for $12000, until this R33 popped up in Port Macquarie for $18k - unregistered and barely running but decent shape, kept an eye on it for a few weeks and the price steadily dropped, $16k then $15k then $14k, that was the point where I was like shit someone’s gonna snatch this up! It was owned by a young bloke who had big plans but him and his missus just had a baby so smartest move financially for them but big gain for me. So 2 days later I’m towing a car trailer to pick this thing up. Roughly 2 weeks and $3500 later I’m cruising around Newcastle in my beat up R33 all smiles and dose noises! It only needed some basic shit to get it going, coil packs and air flow meter, electrical stuff and all fluids changed, 158k kms and running pretty good, nice smooth engine after oil and coolant flush - when I say coolant I mean it had been filled up with tap water, every gallery and heater element was filled with rust, 8-9 flushes later and still had brown liquid coming out but she’ll be right. The car was painted R34 Bayside Blue at some point but whether it was a cheap job or just not looked after is anyone’s guess, clear coat flaking like sausage roll.  Was rethinking my choices and contemplating life, had it up for sale for $22k - still cheaper than any registered R33 but got little interest, next minute I had an opportunity at work - 6 months overseas for good money, so that was a no brainer, fast forward again and here we are with a 50% finished project.
