It may seem strange but i was having problems with mine havin varied boost levels while driving, i have since then mounted the MBC vertical as b4 it was on its side kinda tucked down the back of the power steering resvoir. Since mounting it vertical i have noticed no more vaired boost levels, smashes straight up to 15psi and holds there strong.

I've got one of these boost controllers for about 3 months now, works excellent i don't notice any spikes either as long as you tightened the bolt at the top properly and make sure it's connected firmly it should be working fine.

i have it mounted vertically too.

but can you guys lower your boost level to .5 bar if u wish??

yes i can. on the last thread or 2 it holds perfectly at 7psi. got a R33

as i screw down more (although very sensitive... screwed down 2 rotations and it went up to 16  ) up the boost goes. such an amazing little peice of work :P:P .

i set mine to 9psi (no fmic yet) and it holds boost between gear changes(i.e when shifting at full boost it will only lower to about 6 or 7 then hit straight back up to 9), feels heaps smoother comming on to boost compared to my old gfb which was set at 10 and seemed very laggy. full credit to the guy who makes them. works perfect. (came with the the hole already drilled)

i documented the install from the GFB to the turbotech over 3 photos. (photos are massive 1600 x 1200, forgot to change the setting)

Jake33- I had exactly the same boost controller as you (GFBs in black)

anyways i found that controller to spike heaps past a certain point. But then again that controller was hard to figure out which way to turn with the alen key..

Im now using this cheap 22 buck one.. Does the jon fine.. Set mine at 0.8bar.. Spikes to nearly 1 bar on cold days in 2nd gear if i push it..

Otherwise its pretty constant..

Have you guys earth the black wire? I heard it will help a bit with the smoothness when you spool up..

Overall im happy with the 22buck controller..

-----------

Quick question...

If you put the controller in the wrong way, it wont boost at all? Or you cant turn up the boost?

What happens?

Cheers

If you put this device in the wron way, the wastgate will not open. In other words not a good idea. Just remember pipe from the intercooler goes to the bottom of the device and the pipe from the side goes to the wastgate.

I have one of these boost controllers, it holds boost really well. I run 10 psi on the street and 12 psi for the track. With the piggy back computer I run it works really well.

Xander, what piggy back computer are you using?

Has anyone else noticed some oily residue around the small hole on their turbotech? Whats causing this and is it something to be concerned about?

I am guessing that you probably don't have a catch can?

Does the boost controller line come off the intercooler pipe?

If you answered yes to the above question, then you would probably find that the intercooler pipes have a film of oil on them and that you are getting a fair amount of blow-by.

yeah i noticed the same thing on mine was wondering if the seal on the turbo was going?

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
