Well I just received an email from the WRX Club guys asking me if I knew of a Ben Derks that has entered for Sandown and put down an estimated lap time of 1.18! They didnt believe it so they thought they'd ask me if I knew who he was and what time they could really expect! LOL

Anyone who hasn't seen this car run - it's worth coming down to watch just to see it.

Hahaha :P excellent. At least Ben's being modest with his estimated lap times! :)

I hope he still has the gate atmo, i cracked up every time he came out of Dandenong humdreds of metres away and you could still hear it...lol, the car still definitely has sound deadening as it didnt sound that loud.

...anyoe else practicing their rain dance:)

Do you want to hit another wall Brisby??

Better not rain. Sandown is the one track I dont like in the wet. Calder isn't great - but Sandown is shocking.

Its rained last year at the WRX Club event and one of the guys (Vin) put his car on its roof!

Put in strong ones?

I'll at least spectate as I don't think I'll want to race the GTR (pending) ;)

Geoff, I'm assuming you bought the GTR off Josh?? If so nice buy, very cheap and quite a good car, gotta love TE37's!!!

By the way, where's my lock bar????

Jack, sorry mate, got myself sidetracked with the car shopping. It's hanging in the garage waiting to be packaged but I'm going right now to wrap it and put it in the o.night bag. It's just me being a slack bugger. I have 4 others to get out tomorrow.

Yeah it's Josh's car, and he's a really nice guy too. I'm still awaiting confirmation on the cash from the credit union. Wanted to wait until after I sell the house and have my own cash before I bought but this is too good a car to miss. Everything is just right. Not over the top, purple, turbos done with steel wheels, not defectable, not a leak in sight underneath, good power, nicely cared for...... bloody long overdue and I think I've earn't it. Still be keeping the 33 BBQ but selling the 33 auto.

Cheers mate, but the track car will remain the RWD without abs and other aids.

Had a long chat to Ben today and he said nothing about Sandown. He did point me toward a possible reason for the 25DETT having problems, but I have to pull it down first. I'll be there to watch him demonstrate why rex's are considered a toy.

Just checked the listings on the wrx forums and i am down for driver training!

I am looking forward it, very exciting for me!

Just called racebrakes for some pads and i am having some RB74's for the front and comp 2's for the rear delivered.

Still gotta pickup a fire extinguisher and fix a slow leak in one of my tyres and a few other bits and pieces but will get there!

All i can say is ... TRAITOR! ;)

lol, you beat me to it, im up and down over a friends car in NSW, too good a buy to pass up, but its still a way too expensive toy for my tastes, so at the moment its going to take the R32 burning to the ground or a good cash offer to convince me the R33 GTR is the way to go.

Hmmmm I've always wanted a GTR33 so this is reward for lots of hard work over the years. (Who said that??? Shut up!! I do deserve it.) It is unlikely to go to the track though. Maybe the Shep day but that'll be it.

Anyway, if anyone can burn a 32 to the ground you can.

Sooooo, who want's an auto R33???

...Troy - You've already spent the value of a 33 GTR on the 32 and i'm sure it wont be long before you set the other 1/2 on fire.

LOL... i doubt i have:) And just wait and see how popular you are when you blow Andrew's 3rd gearbox at the Dutton taking the money he has spent on gearboxes and clutches alone to well over what i have spent on my car:)

LONG LIVE RWDS :kick: DOWN WITH 4Wd/AWD SWINE :flamed:

He's not a traitor - he's just seen the light! ;)

The light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off due to budget constraints:(

Ill see how my payrise goes after tax, adn if my friends car is still hanging around i may re-visit it then...otherwise they are just too expensive for me to track:(

Plus RB26DETT + track = :Bang:

F*CK OFF!! I'm getting SBS now........ AAAARGGHHHHH

LOL..you will be right, you said you werent going to track it:)

I give you two track days, just so you try out the new tt setup and suspension and youll part the GTS25T and track the GTR:) Actually i bet you start tracking the GTR while you rebuild the RB25. Am i right or am i right:thumbsup:

For gods sake someone have a play with a GTST so i can have someone to play with:(

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
