I heard rumour from a good source at Ford, that they are currently developing an AWD system for the next Falcon. It is primarily the same drivetrain used in the Territory, but obviously modified to suit the Falc. This means there would more than likely be an XR6 Turbo AWD.

Now Im not a Ford fan at all, but I'll be the first to admit that an XR6 or Typhoon with AWD would be a lethal weapon. If released, would it have the potential to reach GT-R's level of performance and success? I'll be keeping a close eye in the rear view if it does!

In the present future there is rumours of them putting an XR6 turbo motor in the AWD territory. In an AWD system it would be very very difficult to hold the amount of torque that the motors have the potential of making. Ford would have to make ane exceptional drivetrain in order to hold this sort of power.

Ford, is currently using the territory as a test bed for it's awd system, but as someone here said getting the kilos down and the reliable drivetrain to cope with it will cost big dollars.

So even if it did comes out chances are a FPV only case, can't see it under $100k and on the wrong side of 2tones, I remmeber Holden once said, when they sticK an awd behind

5.7, then they'll teach the 2.0 litre brigade(wrx) a thing or 2, I'm still waiting. They've forgot one thing reall R&D cost lots of money and time.

Until now the turbo XR6 still show signs of being unreliable, god forbid what an AWD turbo would do.

There have been rumours of that for a while from both the Holden and Ford camps..

I am not sure whether I can see it happening in a production car from them because of the cost, and being able to sell. Sure it would be awesome, but whether they can get the public to bite at $60k+ not so sure.

You have to remember also, that in places like Japan they can afford to throw millions more at development for fancy things as AWD, and trying many ideas that do and don't work during development, as they know they will sell XX hundred thousand rexes/liberties/evo's worldwide. Whereas in Australia, there just isn't that return on investment.

BTW, the Nizpro Territory ran a 11.7 on the 1/4 recently

Yep a couple of records were broken that night, 11.7 for Territory:

and 10.56 for an XR6T sedan.

Yeah, it might be a Ford, but it is also brand new and has a factory warranty.

While it is no GTR or Skyline, you guys are gonna want something that is a six cyl turbo in the near future and I bet a XR6T will be the top of the shopping list, I was so impressed I bought one.

$1500 in mods and I have a 12sec car that can carry 5 adults and their luggage:whatsthat

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
