In association with RENEW, the Rotary guys, we are having a track day at Oran Park Grand Prix on Tuesday November 22.

Yes I know tuesdays aren't that great but we have secured a good price and I've been told there are no weekend spots available until late 2006!

$215 for members and $230 for non members

Aaron McGill from Auto-Motion is hosting the day and the normal price is $275 so there is a decent saving to be had.

Please post your interest in here. I will be calling for deposits and entry forms when I get around to it.

Now closed to further entries.

Yeah, Aaron mentioned his next OP day was november. It will be awesome Aaron runs a top day and OP GP circuit is I reckon probably the most fun circuit in NSW.

My only problem with this day is that it's so late in the year and I'm not keen on thrashing in hot weather... hmm tough choice.

Get Nick and Richard to pull their fingers out.

i am just quietly thinking away...dum de dum dum.

Never fear, when it get's closer to the date 30% of the entrants will suddenly remember they have left the stove on that day and I shall ease my fat bod into their spot. noice.

You know better than to try and gee up nick though, we all know he's soft...

Hehe, some good insight into event organising. Should send everyone PMs and say it's the last Oran Park day ever. Deal with the public backlash later.

But of course if not enough people plonk their money down early the day will be cancelled entirely.  It's the enternal conundrum.

yes indeed, you make an interesting point.

the last thing I want to do is encourage people to hold off on putting their hands up. those who know me know that i am mostly a good little vegie when it comes to fronting up for the trackdays etc. It's just that at this point i have some uncertainty on the horizon which I shall have to surmount before committing to the day.

It will be awesome though. Aaron really runs a trackday like no other.

Im very interested, ill find out if i can go by tuesday

,will we be able to do some drifting there at all? Plus all we need is the $215 and helmet right coz i havent been on oran park before so is it like wakefeild where you need to buy a licence?

No license required for Oran Park, the insurance is organised by the Hirer and is included in the 215. Helmet, long clothes and safe car will be required.

And it is very likely Aaron would allow a drift session it would be best to talk to him on the day.

This is a great price for one of his days they are normally quite a bit more.....these are different to normal track days in that instructors are there and you can get some great help to improve your driving. Of course if you are already a perfect driver you have nothing to learn :(

Kel is intending to do her Observed License Test for a CAMS license on this day so we will have a chat to Aaron. Anyone who wants a full CAMS license should do the OLT as well....it is a race to show that you can drive quickly and safely on the track usually 5-8 laps with a standing start.

A track day at OP GP circuit? running it with the Renew guys? why wouldn't you go!?! :D

oh yeah 1 reason is work so won't know until close to the day. :D

Should be an excellent day, hope you get enough people locked in beforehand to ensure it happens.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
