Just wondering if 18x10 +15 with 225 tyres will fit on the rear of a gtst with only little lowering with coil overs no camber arms

Cheers

Chi

i tried a 18x10 +12 not long ago. with a 225 and a little more camber it could be done. at the time mine was set at -3 degrees. id say with some guard love it 'could' be done

Hey guys, I'm going to be completely honest here. I don't know shit about offsets... So I need to ask you guys this question.

I have an R33 1993 GTS-T and I want to fill my guards... I want at least 235 on the front and 255/265 on the rear on an 18 inch rim. What offsets would make that fit without spacers and make it fill the guards? I don't mind if I have to roll them either.

i got away with 30offset 9.5 all round, but the front is tad too much in my opinion, better with more on front so you can turn the wheel and not scrub. The inside of the rim is scrubbing the strut on a full lock so ill need spacers..

hi,

after reading through this posts, i'm considering getting a set of rim - 245wide rubber with 18x8.5" 25mm offset front , and 285wide with 18x9.5" 29mm offset. I have R33GTS and sitting about 345mm from center to the guard. Can someone please confirm this is possible without guard work?

Thanks

got an r33, have coilovers,

getting a set of work vsxx rims orr Mr Eps (oooh namedrop)

17x8 +40 F

17x9 +40 R

i'm thinking of 15mm spacers all 'round?

i just want them sitting flush, maybe sitting out a little.

would i need my guards rolled?

what is a good offset for a r33?

might not be the right place but i figure you guys would know, where can i get quality spacers?

you'll need guard work for sure,

both front and rear? rolling guard or have to flare?

Also if i'm going with +40 offset for 8.5" Front & 9.5 Rear, would it help and not touching the coil over?

Thanks

40offset is very conservative, no problem with that offset, those specs done easy

could go 9.5 on back with 30offset, that be filing up arch, front id say 9inch with 30 offset, will need rolling on back and front still id say,

the front becomes an issue when you want to go up a driveway and the wheel has to turn and come up into the wheel arch, full lock hits the strut.

depends what your after really

in your opinion which is better setting where minimal or no body work in the options i have available? note that the car is sitting 345mm from center to arch so that it's not low, about 25-30mm lower than stock height.

available option 1. Front 8.5" 25 offset with 235wide rubber, Rear 9.5" 30 offset with 275-285 wide rubber - rolling guard to F & R needed? hits strut?

available option 2. Front 8.5" 40 offset 235wide rubber, Rear 9.5" 40 offset 275-285wide rubber - rolling guard not needed? hits strut?

available option 3. Front 8.5" 30 offset 235wide rubber, Rear 9.5" 38 offset 275-285wide rubber - rolling guard not needed? hits strut?

Thanks for your help.

this is a tuff question, all i can do is go off whats on mine which is the 18 by 9.5 with 30offset all round

Ive just measured mine and ive got 323mm at the rear and 329mm at front, that the distance from center to the arch.. so mines bout 15mm lower and i have very firm tein coilovers

Id really recommend rolling your arches , its bout $50 an arch and then theres less hit and miss with all the options you've gave, atleast on the front because when you try and get up driveways and odd angled entrances etc, on a steering lock your wheel arch might dig into the tyres.

On the front , 40 offset is safe, 30 offset should be fine, and 25 offset borderline, should all clear the strut ( assuming you dont have rolled arch and the suspension a bit soft and a tight steering lock going up a driveway) if you roll the arches , all are fine

On the back, 30 offset you'll have to stick with 245, might get away with no rolling wont hit strut

38 and 40 offsets you'd go 255 , with rolling 265? shouldnt hit strut

Hope that helps a little, on my car the rim is about inline with the arches so i think its about the limit of offset, but others might say otherwise.

feel free to correct me if im wrong anyone...

yeah i will roll them!

between i have super street tein coilover, not overly firm but firm enough.

look like i will go front 8.5" 30 offset with 235 to give it more aggressive look. Rear 38/40 offset with 275/285 to give me more traction.

Currently i'm running 8.5" rear with 255 federal rsr and is very close to flush with the guard. Just had a look, it seems like about an inch on the inside.

do you think 275/285 is possible?

i think 275 is more GTR tyre width, pushing it i think,

so if its flush now with 8.5 rear , it'll come out another 12.5mm so even the 255 will be close.

best combo to fill ur guards and look 'ok' is 8.5+25 and 9.5+30 you can run much smaller tyres that will fit just fine with minimal stretch a 235 fits a 9.5 easy

its also worth noting depends how low you sit/want to sit.

wtf u need a 275/285 tyre for? unless you have 800killerwasps thats overkill

i want 275/285 to give more traction. as mentioned i'm running 255 fed rsr. used to have 280 rwkw and the 255 was fine with 2nd gear... but since upgrade the turbo i have problem with traction, in 3rd gear i have no traction until it really warm up and which just give a bit of chirp. hence only go wider rim for more rubber.

whats that mean?

the wheel arch is not quite big enough to allow that width, you'd have to have the guards modified, 255ish is about the limit, maybe 265 with a good roll and pulling on the arch, and that would be with a 40offset not a 30, so it wont fill the guards as much as the 30offset with 245, 255 possibly??

i had 18x10+20 on the rear with a 265/35, rolled guards and cambered of course. Wouldnt do it again though hate big tyres.

that would of came out alot hey.. i cant imagine getting much traction with more camber than the standard,

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
