fronts will be flush, rears will have some poke.

nothing that cant be overcome with rolling though

fronts will need guard liners removed

both will require minor stretch

Found a cheap but nice set of rims to put on my 89 gtst 4 door skyline

SQUARE Wheels G6 Model

17x9 +15 5x114.3

18x9.5 +12 5x114.3

I would love to fit the 18's but I am just wondering if I will have much problems making those fit. I dont mind rolling just dont wanna get into the pulling etc. WHATS YOUR THOUGHTTS?

to be brutal...

it's an 89 gtst, not an '09 R35... just pull the guards

Just a quick one joeyjoejoe, when you had the 9.5 +22/+20s up front, did you just roll guards, or did you have to flare the guards slightly & ditch the liners too?

I had 9.5+12 on the fronts, but I removed the liners and pulled the guards a few years ago when I had 9.5+25's

once the front guards of a 33 are rolled properly you can just heat them up and push and pull them to where you want as they are fairly thin.

lol...

the initial roll was with a heat gun and guard roller.

but with subsequent sets of rims I have used a pipe, a baseball bat, the yellow pages and a jack, my bare hands and of course the guard roller. just depends on what's needed

basically the fronts are weak enough to be pushed in and out to suit. the rears dont go back in once they are done...

just be careful with the fronts and remember to check the panel alignment along the front door line and check the bonnet alignment BEFORE you open or close it

Going from the pics of yours when you had similar wheel dimensions to that, and had the greddy coilovers with good ride height (IMO), did big bumps ever make it bottom out wheel inside the wheel arch/liner at all? IE could your suspension have been any softer for that ride height or was that minimum stiffness? I've got softer suspension (SK bilstein/whiteline ones) and I wonder if I could get away with going lower.

I ran it on the hardest setting with 6/8's

front liners were removed and wiring loom relocated (just all pulled through and tucked up above the metal)

it scrubbed a tiny bit but nothing noticable

yeah fine...

daileyed it for like 4 years with those coilovers

i mean it's not "soft" and "comfortable" but really nothing that bothered me in the slightest

Do r34 gtr's accomodate wider rims at the front than a gtt with gtr front guards?

Just curious as this is how my 18x9.5 +15 CST's sit with 255/35's420643_10151201993838039_216824609_n.jpg

Not a very good angle, but this is the only shot I have at hand

very nice you finally got it done. The front GTR gueards are wider about 20mm more than the GTT.your wheels are sitting quite flush good fitment choice.

Hey guys,

Looking at a set of Rota Grids for my R33 GTS-T series 2 which is marginally lower than stock on coilovers (due to where I live/work I have to go up the occasional kerb and don't want to leave my exhaust behind so not going lower yet)

There is two sizes I'm considering and was wondering which would look/fit better without camber adjustment or guard modification.

Front 18x8.5 +25

Rear 18x9.5 +20

Or

Front 17x9 +12

Rear 17x9.5 +12

Won't go bigger than 18s as I already have back breaking, rock hard suspension on the stock 16s and roads here are somewhat crap. Also, tyre wise, I want to keep standard rolling diameter and don't want to stretch tyre, any suggestions?

If anyone has fit these sizes before, some pictures would be awesome.

Thanks

    • Ok, just the way you wrote it made it look like you had the stagger the wrong way around
    • I was getting anxious with the DVLA not knowing if the paperwork is fine or not, so I rang them. No update had been given, but I  was reassured that providing the box was ticked on the V750 then the application will go through fine. I've been checking the DVLA website pretty much every day, in the hope that it would have been done. Fast forward to Monday 29th  and I was greeted with a new screen on the check, and it finally showed as Taxed and MOT'd, woohoo! The car was in desperate need of a clean, not knowing when this day was coming it was put off. As far as I was concerned I had another 3 weeks  I'm not normally one for using snow foam, but I wanted to give it another try It hasn't cleaned up too bad considering it's 21 years old and lived on a boat for a number of weeks. The personalised number plate is J2 XBK, an illegally spaced number plate would have it read J2X BK. BK could either represent  the colour black or Baker, which is my surname. I filmed the first drive, the Youtube link will be at the end. I used the same driving route I did with the 323F V6 when I had a new exhaust installed, heres a couple of photos A few more since then Youtube video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjkFHPzjGDw
    • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
