Well I got my M80 Installed. Alarm is pretty good. But I'm going to take it back to GL Pro Sound. For some reason when i went for a longish drive (went for a drive with a mate to Frankston and then turned around and went back home). I stopped at a maccas for a stretch and to get something to drink. My GReddy turbo timer was on auto and was up to 9 minutes. No probs turn "off" the ignition, let the turbo timer do its business and arm the alarm. Approx 1 minute after arming the alarm has gone off!! had to disarm and then wait about 2 minutes or so and re-arm. I got back home where it was more quiet and can try to diag the problem. TT was auto set to 2 and a half minutes. got out and arm the alarm. was having a ciggy and I hear what I think is the fuel pump priming or something and then the alarm went off. disarm and rearm and didn't do it again.

Anyone had this same issue (does that mean the fuel pump is on its way out or would that be cause the alarm to go off because it thinks someone is trying to start the motor)

One of my mates dad's does alarm/imob installs for a living so I got a sweet mates rates + beer payment deal :)

I've got a Mongoose system, don't know the model probably the M80 with glass break sensor and window lift kit.

I wasn't sure whether the window lift kit was worth the extra at the time, but I love it! So easy, just close the door walk away and blip its all taken care of.

how are you setting the alarm? car on , timing down - PRESS 1 and HOLD or press 1?

answer that question first and I'll help you with it.

I have been doing it like this

1. car is running (of course)

2. turn off, turbo timer is on and counting down

3. I'm pressing 1 (just press 1 not press 1 and hold)

You have to excuse me if i have been doing something wrong (first time owner of a turbo car).

press and HOLD 1 with the car running on timer, it will chirp, diasble the sensors but still look at the doors and if one is opened it will shut the car down and sound the alarm.

once the car times out it will chirp again and bring the sensors online.

make sure it works on ALL doors. I have seen too many of them that only trigger on the drivers door.

if it DOES NOT chirp when you do the above they DID NOT turn the function on. if you have the book enable option 13. you will need to TOTALLY disconnect the timer for this to work.

let me know how you go.

I tried it last night...didn't work..do you want me to disable the impact sensor (by pressing 1 then 2)...Although when i was trying just normally, it went off again...the alarm was was going off but the motor was still running. check on the led light what triggered it off - it said that the impact sensor was triggered...I'll keep trying

I have a gsm paging alarm in mine which i think is more useful than those pagers where you have to be standing next to the car...can also arm or disarm via gsm. Just need a prepaid sim card to run it

Got links to this system, Sir Duncan?

nah ring me in the morn. details in sig. they didnt do it right.

Hey Chris, all fixed. the silly buggers did not have the turbo timer function turned on so they did and turned down the shock senor as well. It's at a good level but not so sensitive that the car is going to trigger the alarm while the TT is counting down

thats exactly the problem you described to me. so it works as I stated now?

duncan, PM pls.

Hi guys,

digging up an old thread; I need to find somewhere in Adelaide to install a Mongoose M80G in my stagea, someone who has at least worked on imports... does anyone know of a good place in Adelaide who has worked on imports? I have seen some dodgy alarm installs... I'll be pulling as much off as I can to make it easier for them... but yeah don't want anyone making a mess of my wiring.

Thanks

DaveB

This thread is old but I will post with a question my problem.

S1 Stagea with a Mongoose M60 alarm. When it was installed something like 6 years ago the installer didn't/couldn't work out how to install it with the decaying interior lights. So when I close the door I have to wait the 30sec or so before alarming otherwise I get the "your door is open" chirps... which is fine just annoying but as I don't drive the car much I havn't bothered to fix it.

Can someone tell me how to fix it or do I need a "profesional" installer? I'm in Brisbane Samford area.

Hi guys im having trouble with my car alarm. When leaving the car and turn alarm on the doors no longer lock automatically. And sam thing on returning to car not unlocking. Very frustrating. ..... is a steelmatre alarm is it worth trying to fix .. or should I replace with a better system .... any help you could give me would be appreciated.

    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
    • OK, so a bunch of trim needs to come off to get to the rear shock top mounts. Once the seat is out of the way, the plastic trim needs to come off. Remove 2 clips at the top then slide the trim towards the centre of the car to clear the lower clip Next you need to be able to lift the parcel shelf, which means you need to remove the mid dark trim around the door, and then the upper light trim above the parcel shelf. The mid trim has a clip in the middle to remove first, then lift the lowest trim off the top of the mid trim (unclips). At the top there is a hidden clip on the inner side to release first by pulling inwards, then the main clip releases by pulling the top towards the front of the car. The door seal comes off with the trim, just put them aside. The the lighter upper trim, this is easy to break to top clips so take it carefully. There is a hidden clip towards the bottom and another in the middle to release first by pulling inwards. Once they are out, there are 3 clips along the rear windscreen side of the panel that are hard to get under. This is what the rear of the panel looks like to assist:
    • Yes. Autos typically work from the speed sensor on the pinion shaft of the diff. I also think that even if you have a proper speed sensor for the bog manual in the manual box, that the signal it outputs is not compatible with the auto dash anyway. You should consult that manual (the book, not the gearbox).
    • And I just realised that that advice is slightly nonsensical for a GTR, because you need 2 of them. But it is otherwise true.
    • Having had a reasonable look at the car, I'll be able to remove the (one time) rams and retract the hinge (they are held in the down location by a tiny (m3?) sacrificial screw) which will get it physically back in shape. From there if you remove the rams you need a resistor to turn off the airbag light (as Mark said, there are plug in kits and I might go that way because its reversible). And...per all the threads on here, even if you have the resistors to turn off the airbag light, the bonnet light will stay on as it writes to the airbag computer history - that is either replace the airbag controller, reprogam the EPROM (if I can work out how), or remove the globe from the dash. Having seen how sensitive this system is, if I had my time over I'd pre-emptively remove the rams, even on a road car, because this is all a very unnecessary pain in the arse. Reminds me, time to go and have a look at the Fuga too....
