i understand tuning shops etc being sceptical about sponsoring an unregistered club, i mean think about it from their point of view.

but 4000(!) members in SAU! a lot in WA as well, so many ppl have heard of us. we're getting bigger and bigger man. i was at Weststate tyres and some ppl (ok well 2) came up to me and asked whut the club was all about. even my sisters friends have heard of us.

:D

i agree that we will need to go over the info thoroughly

however, i know this is possible coz the situation then and now is wayy different and we have more people with 'lines now

what paul said is true - we need people who are willing to commit, liking Skylines is not good enuff. plus i think there are lots of clubs popping up everywhere making things harder

Ok im not much of a club man type, ok i like the odd drag or cruise, and i like the forums as they are now. What will change once the club goes official, positives , negatives. Usually making things official = more politics, more talk then work and more people pissed off. I like the cams affiliation though.

Thanks for volounteering yourself already Steve.

:D

In regards to Rollaboyz, their non-official status has not stopped them attracting sponsorship from companies.

However, they are "organised" in that they arrange meets which provide increased exposure for their sponsors.

*dB drag sound-offs

*rice cook-offs

*and the biannual "that's an outrageous neon" award.

seriously though, their culture is very "club" oriented, rather than simply car-oriented, and I think that that is the way you need to be in order to attract sponsorship, otherwise businesses never get a return on their investment.

This would theoretically produce a marked contrast between the SAUWA that exists now, and the one which would potentially exist as an organised club. Both have their good and bad points.

Ok let me put it a bit more simply,

As it stands

Skylines Australia Discussion Forums > Skylines Australia > Western Australia >

We already have meets, group buys, get good prices from dealers that post here etc etc, how is paying money into a group going to make this better. I dont think lining the pockets of insurance companies and auditors is worth it just so we can say "oh look we are an offical club"

I'd be all for an official club, like I said before. $50/membership is quite a good deal really, if only for cams affiliation.

But really, all we want is good deals at shops for our products and friendly support. We've already got that.

The minority that would want the cams license for affiliation can join another club that's already set up.

my 2c.

And the stuff about shops not wanting to support an unaffiliated club is bullshit. If a shop umms and ahhhs, piss them off. They're not worth our custom.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
