Its about time... not being insensitve or antything. but im tired of f**king ちかんす(chickansu) on the trains. For those who dont know chickansu are f**king desperate business men(usually) who touch up women/girls on crowed trains in Japan. Its a very serious crime. If they are caught they lose their job and basically can never get another respected job ever again. In the past year I have saved a high school girl from one of these animals and also a lady in her 20`s from these low lifes. God help me if i witness another on a crowed train>

Not being harsh but im happy......

But Tokyo police last year reported a record 2201 cases of groping on the city's trains.

these would be reported assults... id say that one ちかん(CHIKAN) assult happens on every busy train monday to friday....(at the minumum)

most of my female friends in Japan can tell me a story about this happening

it makes me sick...... japan is known for being polite from the outside >>> but form the inside>>> WTF.... sorry im angry

Bwahaha..somethings never change hey, It was rife almost 20yrs back when I was there, my poor gf @ the time copped it a couple of times, being a tall attractive blonde girl she had to be very cautious re: travelling in Japan.

/edit could it be a side affect of living in a repressed and prudish society?? I wonder

Yeah, I totally agree with you.

I've never been close enought to intervene with chikansu, but I had a problem with the voyuer type. My own experience with these guys was when my missus and I were waiting at Itami station in Osaka. This kinda nerdy looking guy was taking photos with his phone in our direction. I didn't bother with it at first, but after the 3rd time his little green light went off (with him holding the phone up photo-taking style) I went over to him and asked bluntly in Japanese "what are you doing? Did you take a picture of my wife?" to which he said "I don't understand... I didn't do anything!" I asked again and agian... then I snatched the phone off of him while he was frantically pressing buttons. Sure enough, he had deleted the first 2 pics, but one was left... the guys was trying to grab the phone back but I managed to see that he had taken a zoomed-in photo of my wifes legs from the waist down... By this stage unbelievably my wife was saying "Sorry!!!" to the guy!!! She took the phone off me and gave it back to the guy!! By this time the train had arrived and the guy sprinted onto the train and went to the front carriage.

I could've murdered the guy, but at the same time I forcibly took his possesion. What can you do? I hope I scared him into no doing it again but I don't think so. I must admit the guy had balls to take photos in full view like that... must've been a serial phot voyuer.

If anything, I think it's the Japanses way of non-confrontation that perpetuates this, so nothing short of the public at large intevening every time will stop it from happening.

i was amazed at TAS how there were guys literally lying on the ground with video cameras trying to film up the girls dresses. i mean, i like a nice ladys form as much as the next guy, but that was a bit full on.

Me and a mate caught one guy a number of years ago harassing a schoolgirl on the Joban-sen. He has basically trapped her in the corner of the doors.

We slowly made our way towards him without arousing his suspicion, and when the train made the next stop, we shoved him out as the doors were closing.

He missed his train, and the schoolgirl thanked us in English. It certainly made my day.

i always thought japanese ppl were very polite and curtious. i have heard of such things since then and am another who is disgusted by the things that go on over there in japan, just the disrespect for asian women is just not right =(

i am a total lover of all asian girls, but have the utmost respect for them and would never dream of doing such things!

what is the jap businessmen's problems? i feel sorry for what the young girls over there have to go thru =S

- Ross.

if your a typical caucasian person, would it take much to stand up to these people? there normaly small no?

The only time I have seen something like this was a guy who was about as

big as me, which is damn big for a Japanese guy. He was leering over a

girl on the train and making her squirm, so I thought I would return the

favour and just came up and glared at him. At least it gave the poor girl a rest.

Another time I heard a girl talking to a lady in hushed satanic voices, I decided

it would be a good time to practice my introductions on her! But I think this girl

was actually insane so I didn't even get her email.

Oooook, after reading this i'm not so sure I want to come to Japan haha! Seeing as I do not have anyone to come with me, it no longer sounds like such a great idea *huffs* well not while i'm single anyway....

Thanks for the heads up!

^^ Hit the gym before you go, do a self defence course and learn how to kick some ass in that situation.... then brake the perverts arm when he makes his moves.

I'm sure he wont bother any other ladies on the trains again.

the only beefed up gaijins seem to be US military... lol most of the aussies I met in japan were all weedy skinny blokes :) don't think they'll intimidate the pervs much.

the japanese seem to very voyeuristic; i 'stumbled' across this website that had an excerpt from a japanese game show where the the contestants, all female, would answer questions like all quiz shows, however the end prize was to have sex with a man in front of the studio audience (of about 7-100 people, and they were going at it full-on porno style).

ok, i dont think you can really make a judgment on japanese social behaviour based on 1 notorious video clip. It certainly isn't representative of japanese popular culture. In fact X rated pornography is illegal in japan, so all porn has 'mosaic' on the naughty bits. Prostitution is also illegal. This may have something to do with the pervs, as they are living in quite a sexually repressed society without and easy way to satisfy their need. Not that illegal brothels, and illegal porn doesnt thrive there though....

Most japanese people are nice, decent people, with a much higher social conscience and sense of community than people here.

Having said that i cant tolerate the sick puppys praying on nice, decent girls either and have put one or two on the straight and narrow... BTW i am 6 foot 3 and by no means slight. i have seen some things there, that if i saw a bloke doing that in sydney i would punch his lights out, in japan i show more restraint as it's not my country, and not my business. with a few beers in me the restraint fades a little as it's hard to watch men treating women badly... thankfully it doesnt happen a lot.

thankfully it doesnt happen a lot.

are you talking about you drinking beers and then your restraint fades, or are you talking about chikan attacks not happening a lot. If its the second im affraid it happens a lot. They dont have posters up at train stations for nothing...

but with your other comments i totally agree

cheers :)

    • Yes the gear for the R33/34 is different, it is red and has a different number of teeth. My part didn't come with that gear though, so I don't know how many teeth are on the red one. You'd have to reuse the 260RS/R33 gear, as long as it's not destroyed.   Haha, as unfortunate as that might be it was working fine for about the first 1500km I've had the car for now.
    • Update all   thanks to the workshop manual, it lead me back to checking fuses as mentioned central locking and door open lights worked when acc was switched on. diagram attached shows two points of power 1. ACC and 2.  Batt with the later being fused (#28) I did check the fuses using a multimeter but I must have stuffed that up also. Went back and checked the batt fuse in interior fuse box and you wouldn’t believe it… a blown fuse. replaced fuse and everything is now working as it should including the climate control   thank you all with your positive insight and knowledge.
    • Where is the warning "That this thread is super old"   I just went into a 5 year old thread, went to do a reply, and couldn't see anywhere obvious a warning of it being super old
    • Duncan is correct. Pitwork (and Toyota's own cheap brand "Drive Joy") were primarily created as brands to sell other manufacturers car parts. It would be weird if Nissan sold parts for Toyota vehicles with a Nissan logo on it, so they created Pitwork to sell parts for other brans Toyota, Honda etc. They are not the same as Nissan genuine parts, although they *do* meet Nissan's standards for replacement parts. They aren't supposed to be a substitute for genuine parts, but a cheaper alternative that is better than Ebay fake parts from you-know-where.
