  1. Fantastic project. I look forward to hearing more about it. Good luck sourcing the remaining parts.
  2. Spotted a white R32 GTR turning right onto Canberra Ave last night after work, like 5.30pm or something. Gave/got a wave. Looked great.
  3. Clearly that was a tongue in cheek comment and I'm sure Doc isn't too upset. The car blows dirty flames and I've seen some of the work he has done to it himself in his garage which also validates my comment LOL. LOL I see what you did there.
  4. Nice edit of that post, Martin. Finally did the car - and more so driver/owner - some justice (after he posted in the thread). PS. My cheap comment earlier on was a relative statement. And it's still fast heading towards its 20th birthday (especially the FD platform itself).
  5. While I like the stories and information, it is an opinion I share. I wouldn't otherwise mind, but can you honestly say it is fair to other traders who pay for the privilege?
  6. Australians are typically cynical with strong bullshit meters, hence the issues with a thread like this. No need to get up in arms about it. It's just the way it is. Some like to see the information on R35s and their success (even if they don't own one) but this cultural default is then triggered by certain things.
  7. Except that would be the class it raced in - if it were racing - the same point you made. The RX7 has plastic overfenders, yes, but the wheels would fit under stock guards (just) anyway... They are only 10s. Some blokes who go out to turn laps on a budget start with cheap race only cars, simply because they are usually 1/3 of the price of road registerable versions. Anyway the cheap, old RX7 does well with some great driving and a simple (untuned) set up to be only fractions of a second off the R35 this time out. And FDs had victories of their own in Production Car series against far more expensive cars in the 1990s, so they can hardly be placed in the same catagory as the V8 whingers. The R35 is a nicer, newer thing, obviously a technological powerhouse... Its benefits are indisputable. Oh and we can't forget the WR35XYZ parts fitted to it! These posts remind me of your advertisement-type posts in the trader section on LS1.com.au, Martin.
  8. Gotta be coming soon though?!
  9. Exactly how much faster was the R35 against the dirty old 1993 Mazda RX7?
  10. Or $900+, like me, and still have no idea what the problem is with your clutch (but jeez the throw out is making a whine!).
  11. Spotted a Gun Grey R32 GTR at Federation Sq. Parked my one next to it!
  12. Good point
  13. Ahhh... I forgot about Remi!
  14. Moorish, Suga Cube or somewhere else? Spotted a Sonic Silver R33 GTST on Marcus Clarke last night, had a really loud exhaust and was definitely NA LOL
  15. That's a fair point, by 5k RPM my car is making nearly 300awkw with the -5s, holding it all the way to redline, which is low power for them with plenty of scope for more. It's well into positive pressure territory at only 2k RPM in higher gears, while the lower gears are geared low enough for it not to matter anyway. My car is an extremely simple set up. No cam gears. Just R34 N1 manifolds (from tangomatt), R33 dumps and a full HKS silent exhaust. That's my feelings... Personal choice I guess. Perhaps the -9s would have been plenty for me for now, but I made my choice and need to justify it in the name of morality. Plans are an engine rebuild later on, after my car is resprayed so there is scope there without needing a new pair, or I could just rebuild my HKS 2530s.
  16. Doubtful the person on the phone would know how the law would treat this. Now that you know about it, some policies state that if it is a known defect that contributes to the loss, you could be for some of that loss. Which company are you with?
  17. No one is allowed to judge me on the outside of my car until it is painted. LOL
  18. Do you have the trim that runs on the outside on the top of the driver's side window?
  19. Far out that is tough, daily driver I hope.
  20. Good chance it was me.
  21. I think there may even be a pic or two of it in that thread? LOL
  22. Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll go with RHDJapan. I'm just trying to work out what bit is what. It's not always obvious...
  23. I'm respraying my car in a few weeks time. I'd like to replace the door rubbers and the rear window rubbers and surrounds. Is there an after market alternative? Or a known place to buy the original stuff? Any advice from people who have replaced these would be appreciated.
  24. A few months in, I love the way my ORC operates. It's noisy and a touch grabby, but it's light and the generally feel is great. I drive the car everyday. However, I think something is wrong with the installation. Gears are significantly harder to select than they should be and the throw outbearing has started whining loudly. The louder it whined as time went on, the easier gears got to select - it's peaked now though, been the same for a while. It's still very sticky selecting from neutral when stopped. People have speculated that it wasn't installed correctly or that the throw used isn't correct. I'm hesitant to spend the cash to do it as the workshop that did it swore they did it correctly (cost me just under $1k in labour) - and twice - trying two different throw outs, instead saying that the clutch is faulty.
  25. Spotted a silver R32 GTR on the Barton going the opposite way... By the time I realised he saw me it was too late for a wave LOL.
