Mate, do what I did. Manual isn't one of the hardest things in the world. I came from the same background as you. Two autos, no manuals. I really wanted to learn manual, but lets face it. Paying for 10-20 manual lessons is a straight rip off. It's like telling the driving instructor to stick his arm up your bum. Anyways, I got my licence on auto. I then bought a sII r33 gtst with a twin plate clutch (reads - harder to drive). Te first time I ever drove manual was when I drove it off the dock to steam cleaning, then to compliance.

Will A Gtr Clutch Fit My Rb20?
MANWHORE replied to Shypo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
late model ruglypoos gtr, r33 gtr and r34 gtr are all pull type clutches I believe. Late model r33 gtst and r34 gtt are also pull type I believe. sI r33 gtst and all ruglypoo gtsts are push type I believe. I also think that early model ruglypoo gtrs are also push type. Therefore, if the gtr clutch is from an early model ruglypoo, then it might fit. NB: I might have gotten the push/pull mixed up, but I think it's right. -
Need Help With Brake Lines
MANWHORE replied to nathn_r33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I believe by pipe spanner, he means ring spanner. As in, the other side of the open spanner. I took off the calipers when I did mine, then I could get a much better finish. It was easier to clean too. Also, there was no chance of overspray. rebleeding the lines was no big deal as it was time to do it anyway. -
Rattling Rear Suspension R33
MANWHORE replied to Primordial's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
There are many bushes in the whole suspension system. There is a bush at the bottom of the shock. Bushes on the suspension arms. Bushes on the swaybars. Bushes absolutely everywhere. It could honestly be anything. It could be a slightly loose suspension bolt (Once, I forgot to do up the top suspension bolts tight enough, and it would make clunking noises. could be bushes. Could be shocks. If you work on your own car, then maybe inspect the shocks and look for oil leaks, check seals etc. If you don't feel confident working on your own car, try a suspensions place. Also, try listening out for where the noise comes from and what is making it. I know it sounds silly, but different problems make slightly different noises. -
Agree about the vacuum leak. Do you have an aftermarket bov? they make the car idle roughly if they vent to the atmosphere. Also, you might need to clean your aac valve.

I use motul 8100 5 w 40. Nice oil. No complaints.

Definitely agree about a loose connection. this happened to me recently, and I was so hungover from the night before that I had to get an autoelectrician to come in. My did I look stupid, when there I was telling the autoelectrician about how I had tried swapping the battery, cleaning contacts, checking fuses etc. Te problem was that I had left a connection in the fuse box loose when installing the power cable for my amp . PS: No, I was not going to drive the car in a half drunken state, I was only trying to do some work on it.

Castrol Synthetic 10w-60 .... Opinion?
MANWHORE replied to Scooby_Steve's topic in General Maintenance
I generally have not had good experience with the 10w60. I generally try to stick to something around the same as the recommended rating (7.5w30). -

Gaskets And Bolts Snapping Off In Head
MANWHORE replied to SideWaysChef's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I can't beleive that you had to drop the whole engine just to remove a few bolts. I woulda gone for a compact drill, so I can fit it in the space to drill it straight. I've seen a few air tool ones that are quite compact. That would suck. best of luck mate. -
Ditch that crappy shit. Buying tyres may suck, but it'd suck more having to fork out cash to repair your car if you crash into someone. Like many others have said, my car started out with compliance tyres. The most useful thing they should be used for is to test how much smoke your car can make (on a private road of course), then dump them, and get something decent. you don't have to spend $1k each tyre to get decent handling. try the fk451 falken. Instead of doing 10 k around the roundabout in the rain, you'll be doing 30-40+. good tyre, good price.

I reckon just change the box oil to be sure. You don't have to go all on out and buy motul atf or anyhting. just buy some cheap castrol. Shouldn't set you back more than $50. try that first. Like troy said, just in case if it's got water in it, or it's simply the wrong viscosity. I dunno why they left it with oil in it anyway, nor why you'd trust random oil in a box anyway. For all you know, it could be used cooking oil mixed with powersteering/atf to get the pink colour.

Some Low Life Peice Of Shit Backed Into My Car
MANWHORE replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The day you stop listening to mum: you become a man. Parents often think they are always right, and know everything. Well, what use was it to listen to your 'fountain of wisdom'? you have a broken mirror, no details of the driver, and you'll be out of pocket to repair it. B loody parents are useful for one thing - Teaching you until you become independant and can think for yourself. -
IMO, do it once, and do it right the first time. Ask yourself this question. do you like rusty metal? acid everywhere? paint peeling? acid in your boot carpet? if so, then buy the $70 one. If you like things clean, put it in, never touch it again, buy the gel one. I had to make this deicsion, and as i'm sure you're aware of which one I chose

Icrease Performance Without Bolt On Mods
MANWHORE replied to Kennedy's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
As sumo has said, depends on your power target. the stock rb25 internals have been pushed to 250rwkw time and time again by numberous members of the forumn. If that is your goal, then turbo + support systems are sufficient. A stock motor that is properly tuned will last a long time like this. On the other hand, if your power goal is 400rwkw, then you'd need to do support systems, turbos + engine work. -
2guup, I agree totally. People aren't going to go whoa, he spent $5k or whatever getting that resprayed.. nice paint job. They're going to go WTF happened there? is that black primer? looks like shit!

that was a waste of a perfectly nice sIII gtr. looks like shit. Looks like my little brother painted it with a paintbrush to get back at me.

sledge hammer but in all seriousness, I have to use planks of wood. if you go to your local bunnings, and buy some offcut 2x4 preferreably 2 bits 1m in length, and lay them down in the gutter. I only drive my car on the weekend, so it'd not too much hassle, but it'd drive me nuts doing it everyday. If you leave em there, some little pricks might take em. cheers

easiest and best looking way, just remove the headlight, tape it up to how you like it, and spray paint it. no bits of ugly metal hanging out etc.
