  1. conversion looks tuff, but still too pricey.. would expect custom show paint and 18 or 19in wheels for 22k!
  2. if he means 252rwHP (~190rwkw) then it shouldnt be maxing out... it was made at only 0.8 bar so it is unlikely 250rwkw
  3. I know a lot has been written about HKS turbos, done the search and read whats been said, but, so much of whats written is stuff like "ive heard" or "so and so's car makes xxxkw" Mostly hear say info on these turbos. Please post only if you've had direct experience with these turbos, and facts not hear say:- 1. On an RB25 what power can you make at the wheels, whilst running "efficient" boost ie, not stretching to the limit, with a 2530 and the 2535? -plz post boost with power figs. 2. When does boost start, and when is full boost hit for each of these turbos? 3. I hear that the 2530 is a really good turbo for street, is this still the same for the slightly bigger 2535? (as i hear that the 2540 is a bit too laggy). I'm trying to get all the facts sorted as i'm about to purchase one or the other. (yes i've thought about high flows, GCG etc, but am going for HKS) THANKS, SLY33 PS, REV210- not interested in hearing that these turbos will only make their "rated" power at the engine, as there are too many of them making way more than that -but by the way congrats on your time!
  4. Are many of you using a fixed back racing seat for the driver? What are legalities of these in a coupe, with a flip forward recliner for passenger? cheers sly
  5. why is it that attached pics hardly ever come up for me? is it the site, or is it me? i often get the little box with the red x in it.
  6. Extreme single plate ceramic button clutch with sprung centre and heavier pres plate, cost me $880 fitted. Sprung centre so wont piss you off, easy to drive for a performance clutch. Very good feel and take up, i have 200rwkw and its fine, whatsisname has the same clutch handling over 250rwkw. recommended.
  7. i got one of those extreme clutches too. Really happy with it. Got the lot fitted for $880 some time ago... i think it can handle 450hp at the engine? not sure, but whatsisname has 250+rwkw and has just fitted one of these, i think hes pretty happy with it. dunno bout kevlar though...
  8. woodgrain indicates its a v8 i would say, in which case also auto.
  9. [email protected] sounds sweet, i know you said they'll fit GTSt but what offset are they, as a few diff offsets will fit. cheers
  10. I spoke to GCG the other day and; their r33 stage 1 hiflow is a bit over $2200, and is rated at 450hp. They say to make this power at the engine, you need to run about 22psi or 1.5 bar!! seems like a lot of boost! I have 200rwkw at 12psi with stock turbo, so i agree Turbomad, seems like heaps more boost for anly a bit more power. The GT2530's are only rated at 320ps, but should produce 230+rwkw on an RB25 im told, but still require 1.2bar plus for this. How about whatisnames turbo? 257rwkw on just 13psi!!!! thats awesome. Unfortunately exact specs not known...
  11. 250rwkw is a heap of power, and if you could get it down you'd probably do 3.4secs! But no way espec with the shit 235's you mention! when i went from 160 to 200kw i could no longer just plant it in 1st due to traction breaking, wheras before i could let 1st wind right out.
  12. agree on the import yards, they are crap. Good cars are over priced, cheaper cars are dodgy. Never gone through one, but have had similar car yard warrantees before. You think your covered for certain repairs but read the fine print and find your not! I still like the idea of buying private, mainly coz you can get a good look and inspection of the car before you buy it! Theres so many GTRs around, shouldnt be too hard to find a good one at the right price.
  13. Epping road is sweet, especially during the early hours of the morning! Yeah the dips are sweet, but i always get a bit edgy coming up to the peaks! coz you cant see whats over the other side! Everytime i take a taxi, i ask them about the spped camera thing, and so far they have all said that they NEVER have seen a camera there. Thats pretty cool but these days you never know!
  14. more bullshit... im still getting used to the 50k zone crap!
  15. not sure about prices for the genuine kit. A good quality copy can be got for a similar price to a copy factory GTR kit. GTR veilside front bar wont go on GTS-t due as its a bit wider. copy veilside kit might cost anywhere up to 1500$ not including the rear spoiler (from what ive seen)
  16. thats a better answer than i could give! I agree about the GCG stuff, it does seem expensive, for the price you can get a good condition HKS2530 or similar... As for ATP's $1500 high flow turbo, and 200kw at the wheels, I have this with my standard turbo, and id expect low 13 sec qtr's as well. What other mods did the car haev? it must be lacking something, as its only making standard turbo power!!
  17. Try GCG turbochargers. They do hi flows or full upgrades. Its my understanding that you wont need to go really big with the turbo and custom manifolds etc, and you'll have 12's potential with a high flowed unit. from GCG:- The factory turbocharger is a ball bearing T3 sized unit with a ceramic turbine wheel. In upgrading this unit we replace the ball bearing pack with a new one while replacing the turbine wheel and compressor wheel with hi-flowed models. The upgrade comes in two stages. XTRGTST-STG1 450hp rated $2250.00 XTRGTST-STG2 500hp rated $2450.00 These conversions are do to the existing unit only. http://www.gcg.com.au/home.htm hope this helps. Im considering STG2 myself, anyone got one of these? btw, you dont HAVE to get 550cc injectors. This expensive mod can be bypassed by just a rising rate regulator (whatsisname: 257rwkw with std injectors. A high flow might net you 235rwkw??). Def. need the management.
  18. Dont you mean unless the original a/f setting is rich? As is the case of std R33 management yeah? And by leaning them out with a custom ecu brings the extra power? Im no tuner, but thats my understanding!
  19. I was told the other day:- -There is NO legal lowering limit ie you cannot legally lower your import -NO TINT is legal on an import and basically that ANY modifications are defectable. Can someone please clarify? There must be heaps of people that have had to get there car off defect by now, do the cars have to be returned completely stock?? How about coilover suspension, even if its set at the standard height? cheers guys
  20. Miss_Nismo; a 32 with a NEO RB25!? Sounds awesome! Did you pick up your car as is or get the work done?! Im in Sydney most of the time, which sucks, the imports are spread out too much. In adelaide every second car is an import! Good convenient cruising! Every time i come back there are new people/cars on the good old adelaide scene. And girls/imports i must say! impressive and cool! As not only are they getting into imports, but they own exceptional examples! This cop defect situation is getting seriously ridiculous. But how about this, arent there are more import owners/enthusiasts than there are cops in SA? Isnt there something we can do!!? If we have the numbers then surely we have some weight! Apart from the revenue raising and the support of numerous jobs at regency, apparently the government gets crap from some car manufacturers, as they think the imports are killing local sales. I heard that nissan love it, and that they are making a killing on selling parts! Obviously ford and holden hate it. A dude told me today "Ford and holden think that the kid who goes and spends 20grand on a skyline, would be buying a commodore or an XR if imports werent available" haha!
  21. I'm actually one of those whos been in Matts car, and yes, its very well setup indeed! If mine was as good as his, id still have it Specifically for those who are interested, i had a couple of problems. With the adapter loom (which since has been improved i think), and despite tuning, and a retune, it would still stall with the A/C on. Also my fuel econ was not good, while there are guys using the same ecu and getting very acceptable econ. Go figure! Tuner/tuning?! i dunno! But personally im going the tried and tested Power FC. The hand controller looks cool on my dash too Matt, do you know if the microtech controller is backlit, i never had a good look!?
