  1. keep the revs below 7500. keep the boost under 15psi and keep the power capped to 360rwhp if you stick to these figures you will have a reliable engine. there are a lot of guys pushing over 400rwhp with these engines with no reliability issues but pistons and rods will be at risk at these power levels. my 30det is a stock bottom end rb25det vvt head and hiflow making 270rwkw (360rwhp) and it is a nice and safe tune the other thing to consider is that you will not be able to get any more than this sort of power to the ground in a rwd. hope this helps! cheers!
  2. 2 new things... taking off from the lights in 5th gear it spins out your passengers
  3. I will keep my eye out. these things frighten the shit outta me! hope it was insured..
  4. hmmmm. you are still relying on someone's calculation and then the computers estimation of a calculation. I am sure it works but it will never be as good as a good tuner that can spot things going wrong. tuning is not a black art like some make it out to be. still best off taking it to a tuner you have heard about and has a good rep.
  5. excellent results mate. I am going to do the same with the stock R32 ecu as soon as the fuel is readily available in melbourne. have you had the plugs out since you have been doing testing? i have found a plug 1 heat range easier to start. it starts like it is on petrol. and you are less prone to detonation because of the mon and ron rating. I have also noticed the different note the exhaust gives.
  6. just some more info on ignition maps rb30det running 18 psi 270rwkw and a reasonable amount of back pressure 8.3:1 compression ratio with stock rb25 non turbo head 20deg advance at full boost of 2800rpm. peaking at 21deg at 6800rpm. power is a perfect bell curve and the is no detectable knock.
  7. hey champ consider it sold pm sent.. cheers!
  8. I am running the following rb30e block rebuilt to stock spec rb25de vct r33 head r33 turbo injectors rb20 cas rb20 ignitor rb20 coils rb20 afm rb20det loom from r32 with replaced injector plugs to suit the rb25 injectors max oversize hiflow all running on a remapped rb20ecu. it runs like factory, cold start, knock map ect 12:1 afr and it passed emissions test. so it can be done.. rowan your setup sounds almost the same as mine, pm me if you are interested in remapping.
  9. I don't know what's up with this seller. i offered $350 + delivery and it was knocked back. this was like a week ago. these parts are old bits of car, they are not made o gold... if you want a SET PRICE for something just ask. this isn't ebay you know...
  10. also, bursons do have them. they are the same waterpump as used in a VL and a R31 I think i paid $70 fo one. just ask for one for a vl commodore in your best bogan accent and you will get it cheap
  11. This is an interesting read. I bought a split dump/front pipe combo from a trader here years ago called batmbl. it is a stainless steel work of art and cost almost $500 from memory. it has been in use for 3 years and now sits on a massive hiflow bolted to a 30det and it has never creeped infact boost used to be a dead flat line at 18psi when it was on my 20det now the 30det uses more air than the little turbs can huff so boost drops off over 5000rpm. i was pissed when i first saw the jjr ones as they are about 1/2 the price and looked nearly identical. but this just reinforces the "you get what you pay for"
  12. PS, your pup is awsome! she is going to get BIG!!! look at the size of her paws
  13. I can vouch for these wheels, they look really hot on R32's especially if you paint the centres black. they have awsome dish on the rears! I wish i could fit these on my car as a spare set! that is a super cheap price champ
  14. so many haters... yes it's not as good as uk tg but really. look at the budget, and the track did suck but give it a chance. I thought it was quite good and will be watching it weekly.
  15. I was impressed you have mad skills... full props given!
  16. I have another personal experience to share I tuned a car for someone that was powered by an RB30e and it had a monster performance t3t4 with an external gate running 12psi. the car made 170rwkw and power delivery was very smooth but it took far to long to come onto boost. full boost was just over 4000rpm. this was on a 3 litre bottom end. also boost coming back on once you changed gears took almost 2 seconds and by this time it was nearly time to change again. the turbo never died and made no bad noises. it just had bad response and lacked power. the owner was disappointed with the results and regretted buying the turbo as the same power could have been had with an rb25 turbo and full boost at 2000 rpm on the 3 litre. this is only my opinion, but if you love your skyline and have spent a considerable amount of money on it, at least put a name brand hiflow on it. these can be had for a shade over $1000 and will make 250rwkw and bolt right on.
  17. wow thanks for the quick heads up! i will give him a go still keen to see it a driftek will fit over the combo. does anyone know of a place that sells them in melb? cheers
  18. I have just upgraded my brakes and these will not fit over them so i regrettably have to sell them to get a set that fits. multistud 4 & 5 114.3 with an offset of Front 17 x 8 +35 with hubcentric spacers and special nuts to fit 235 tyres on them. and they fit my R32 GTS perfectly Rear 17 x 9 + 40 fill the guards perfectly and look super tough They are 3 piece wheels and are all in good balance and there are no buckles. they have been freshly powder coated satin black. replacement cost is over $3000 3 piece wheels cost a fortune because of their quality and strength. these have a spun inside rim for lightness, a soft alloy outer rim to prevent cracking and damage in case of contact and a forged centre for strength. these wheels are about 10 years old but are in excellent condition and look new because of the fresh powdercoating as they are 4 and 5 stud you can put them on turbo or non turbo skylines. but will not fit over gtr brakes. i am not sure about gtst brakes. my rear guards have been massivly flared so not the best indication but they fit just inside gtst guards they come with a pair of federal 595ss in good condition with over 65% tread left. chasing $1000 I am located in Melbourne but could post them i guess.
  19. hey dudes, I have just fitted 296mm gtr rotors and calipers to my car and my wheels will not fit over the brakes. the offset it right its just that the wheel has thick spokes and will not clear the caliper. heres the problem... my hubs are 4 stud... i have redrilled the rotors to fit the hubs, also going 5 stud is not an option. I really need either of the following. 1. new set of wheels that will clear the callipers that are 4x114.3 in 8" and 9" 2. a pair of lace 4x114.3 that match mine that Will clear the brakes OR is there someone that has a set of koya driftek's that would be willing to let me try one of their wheels on my car to see if they would clear the brakes? as i a, looking at getting a set of these if they will fit. any help would be appreciated
  20. I like mine because i built it and it works I also love cruising in 5th at 80 and planting it. even in overdriven gear ratios the torque is a surge like nothing else. things i dont like... having to run semi slick 255 tyres to get traction and replacing them every other month
  21. you are aksing for trouble taking the gtr to the snow. we went in a TT forister and it was still a bit sketchy. while we were driving i was thinking about how dangerous it would have neeb in my skyline with the mechanical 2 way. there were a few cars nearly coming off the road. just hire a commondore or a little 4wd. it will be cheaper than something happening to the gtr. cheers
  22. Sigh... ok here goes... I bought a .63 t3/t04E 500hp turbo to put on an RB20 (this was a long time ago.) it needed an external gate so i bought one of them aswell. i modded all my intake piping, manifold, dump, lines ect. the car came on full boost at 6000 rpm (seller claimed it would come on hard at 3000. it lasted for 3 days before the compressor blades came in contact with the housing. the seller would not take it back wothout an indapendant report. so off it went to GCG. GCG had a look at it and said it was the worst quality turbo they had ever seen. bearings floated a few mm and the wheels were of bad quality casting and did not look even close to balanced. they wrote a report stating it was a danger to any engine and is not deemed safe for use. needless to say i got my refund. was stupid to but a turbo unseen from ebay and will never do it again. this was in 2002.
  23. It was done at S&K panels in campbellfield. and was VERY cheap. $1750 and that was using Sikkens paint. this included repairing 2 major dints and dozens of pin dents. the quality of the paint is fantastic but there were some things i was not happy with, 1. they put my door lock actuator rods in backwards so when the window went up or down it fouled on the rod and went CLUNK... 2. they left the windows of the car down during the whole process and the car was FILTHY inside when i got it back... 3. one of my door trims was marked... but i the paint is fantastic. just their assembly was a bit rough. cant complain for that price seeming as the paint alone was over $600 and it only took 3 weeks from drop off to pickup.
  24. As promised here are some shitty pics of the car in the garage, pls excuse the mis matching wheel. mid way thru doing stuff.. also have not fitted the front skirt yet. its going to be black... the color changes in different photos and it is hard to get a treu representation of the color but here is a coupla shots.. notice the front lights have been pulled apart and the housings painted black, the indicators are now clear and the front bar is stealth... i am not into fulleh sic... let me know what you think..
