Custom, if you want bigger.
I have front pipes similar in size to the dimensions you have put up, and I need to upgrade the rest of the exhaust to suit in the near future.
Depends on what you want to do with your car, street, track etc. And eng oil return mods undertaken.
Street, 1.5 extra should be fine.
Track, oil control becomes really important, as per sydneykids thread on RB oil control.
Hope that helps.
There have been a few cases of the stud breaking. Usually due to age (fatigue from belt vibes, stretch etc) or over tightening of the nut.
That is why it's a good idea to replace it when you get the 100,000k service.
And yes, it is easy to change the cam gears without pulling the front of your engine apart. Did a set of cams that way too, just be sure that no.1 cyl is at TDC (top dead center) on the timing mark.

Nismo goodness!!!!!
Fitting these goodies was half the fun in some cases, and they do add that little extra to the base setup. Great having pretty much oem nismo factory parts too as they will go the distance.
Le sigh.....
Will -9's (GT-SS) go well with a 2.8???
No one has asked that yet!
My guess is awesome low to midrange, then a choked top end and drop off after 6500ish due to smaller hotside compared to -5's, and smaller cold side witth more heat if you put in more PSI.
A couple of pics I took a few days ago. About 12,500km from Aus (sunny middle east)
Wish I could of got pics when the sun was barely up.
First 2 from the air.
