I've got pics of what was expected to be the standard R200 centre in pieces here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Di...et-t197053.html Not sure if it will help at all.\ EDIT: R33 GTR two way diff....

The fact that he/she is changing at 5K intervals does negate part of the problem, assuming he doesn't change his oil filter every 5K with it, but there are better oils out there. However, I just disagree with the "ask your local autobarn for there recommendation" when we have a huge discussion and a summary of the oils in the first post. There's been plenty of effort to guide people on what oils to buy, I'm not an expert but at least I've researched my opinion.

Ah right, I was thinking of the knocking as in pre-detonation knock, which your PowerFC hand controller can tell you about. Sounds like a different issue though, I don't know enough to help, good luck.

So you can hear the knocking? And the engine light is flashing? Doesn't sound good, do you have a power FC with hand controller that could tell you the knock level? Is it always knocking? Or just on startup? Or...

How Do I Tell If My Diff Is Fcuked?
some_cs_student replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have seen my diff in pieces, but I'm not a mechanic or good at explaining how they work on the internet, but at least I try and help The diff on my car locks very easily, after the housing was machined it skips on most corners under very light acceleration, less than it used to though. So, depending on how the LSD has been modified, it can act very similar to a locked diff, the entire rear of the car used to shake while reversing up the driveway because there was very little slip there, its better now EDIT: I make no apologies about the diff locking, even on the ground my diff will lock, and it will lock hard, I cannot spin one wheel without the other one spinning...and I have tested what I have said about the way the wheel spins while the car is jacked up, more than once on an LSD based diff. -
I Dont Know What This Noise Is. . . :(
some_cs_student replied to Aif's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Have you checked the drive shafts / half shafts going to the wheels? I get a clunk on/off acceleration and when changing gears and there is a little bit of slack somewhere near the CV joints there. -
Search Not Working
some_cs_student replied to SL33K's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
When I try and search in the suspension/tyres section, I get: " The error returned was: Erreur Sphinx : connection to localhost:3312 failed Merci de contacter un Administrateur ! " Doesn't that last line say thankyou for contacting an administrator in French? Anyway, is this a known problem at the moment? EDIT: I'm using the quick search but the full search also fails.... -
If you read the comments on the youtube post, I can't remember which page but one guy claims to be the person in the video, they say that this person advised them they were making a documentary about this issue and those aren't there real cars. The entire thing is staged AND that particular quote about going fast was a blooper. Not sure how true it is, but I wouldn't be surprised to see all the footage heavily edited, it's disappointing to see though, just like previous today tonight reports where they really made the interviewee look stupid during the interview by heavily editing and mis-quoting.

R33 Squeeky Brakes
some_cs_student replied to draffael123's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
You should probably just machine the discs with each new set of pads, and bed the pads in very carefully. And you have have the factory anti-squeal shim things as well (they go in the top of the disc above the pads). -
Please do not pollute the thread without first reading it, they're plenty of advice from experts and people who have done a Used Oil Analysis (UOA) of what the recommended oils are for a Skyline.

How Do I Tell If My Diff Is Fcuked?
some_cs_student replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yes, your talking when putting power down, I'm talking about in the air. Open diff would not need to spin the other wheel at all, it would be open with little resistance. -
How Do I Tell If My Diff Is Fcuked?
some_cs_student replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If you jack the car in the air, and turn one wheel, the other wheel will spin in the opposite direction on an LSD diff. In my car, if you spin one wheel a little, the other "locks" after a while, and then they have to spin together or not at all, eg. get someone to hold the other wheel....and try and spin the opposite side. The above will work on a tight LSD...the one black line does sound like it might be slipping, you can get new shims for the LSD's from Japan I believe or a diff re-builder may have them. EDIT: Stock GTR diff's can be very tight after shimming, and fairly cheap for the R33's, but not sure about the r32 diff's. Also, GTR's pinion/crown wheel would be a different size (diff housing?) wouldn't it? <-- too technical for me -
If you do something like power FC + boost (14psi or so) and cam gears with a good tune makes 240-260rwkw in a GTR. Without cam gears you normally won't make that much stock....(assuming exhaust and cat are done).

Was this seller's feedback rating really low? How did you pay? Ebay can be a bit dodgy when it comes to getting your money back or making a complaint, paypal is better but its still owned by ebay anyway...

Gtr R33 Series Differences
some_cs_student replied to Travis Trayhern's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It goes where the reverse light goes but its light red until you turn it on. You get a lot of "you've only got 1 reverse light working" when reversing, lol. -
Yes, we've been trying to keep the first post up-to-date with the current summary of the thread. If "khungjeng" or anyone else has a sec, can you please scan the post? And post your comments into a post somewhere in the thread? I'm sure you can explain group I/II/III oils a little better, group II is hydrocrak ? Once you've made the post just hit "report" to moderator and a mod will update the first post....

Sydney Kid Plz Read Asap
some_cs_student replied to Adz2332's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
SydneyKid is not making much money off the suspension, if anything at all. Therefore he is not a trader and does not need to sign up as one, he's simply doing group-buys.... EDIT: that said a few months is a long time to wait, I'm sure he's simply busy, SydneyKid has always delivered the good to various other customers, even if it did take an extensive period of time. -

An appeal will just waste time, if you were clearly in the wrong then why try and appeal it?
