Does the kit fit R33 GTR's? Have you ever fitted this kit to an R33? The cooler looks very large, is there any choice with cooler sizes? Oh, and I can't resist: "-stacked fin design which forces air to flow through the hole core." whole core

The oil prices are expensive, performancelub.com sells them a little cheaper but you need to pay for postage I'm planning to try Royal Purple next...

How Do You Change The Oil Filter On An R33 Gtr?
some_cs_student replied to some_cs_student's topic in General Maintenance
Haha, I think the fact that I'm pretty short is making it harder, the filter is out of my reach Anyway, if I do oil-filter relocation I might as well do oil cooler as well, I'm considering paying someone to install it as I'm not too good mechanically... -
Sounds the same as what I've got on the GTR, the exhaust varies from 2.75 inch to closer to 3.25 inch on the outside so I'm pretty sure its a 3inch, HKS Super Dragger muffler (with massive tip, JASMA approved), and large mid-muffler. Extremely quiet on idle but loud at high revs, so unless you drive around the street at 5K RPM your fine Unfortunately there not made anymore, but there's plenty of other choices out there.

How Do You Change The Oil Filter On An R33 Gtr?
some_cs_student replied to some_cs_student's topic in General Maintenance
Yes, we managed to move most of that out of the way last time and tried the swearing trick but wasted about 40mins trying to get a oil filter wrench around it to get it out. I think the only way is to move some of the things out of the way and then try and reach the filter by hand -
How Do You Change The Oil Filter On An R33 Gtr?
some_cs_student replied to some_cs_student's topic in General Maintenance
Yes I have a temperature gauge in the car for the oil, that could be why its there. I tried to take pictures but I can't get anywhere near the oil filter until I take some things out, and even then its extremely difficult to see the filter.... madevo3, I'm a little worried about punching a hole through it in case I can't get one back on there. And relocation kits are expensive, I'd rather get a full oil cooler kit but the Japanese ones are very expensive and the Chinese ones have issues with leaking occasionally. I've seen a couple on this forum I might check out... -
Hey, A stupid question I know but how exactly do you get to the oil filter on an R33 GTR? I've got some extras in the engine bay that are certainly getting in the way and making it harder than usual, but even after we moved them last time I couldn't get the filter out from the top even with an oil wrench. There seemed to be something behind the oil filter, there's some aftermarket lines running to it but it seems to be in the stock position or slightly lower on the car. Is there any way to get to the oil filter from underneath? Or is there an easy way to get it from on top? What do I need to take off to get access to it more easily? Compliance didn't even try to change the oil as it was too hard... Regards, Gareth

Abs Unit I Rebuilt It !
some_cs_student replied to Rthirty2GTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Might be better in the tutorials section? -
If its just for roadworthy you've probably got more chance taking the springs out of the car and working on them. My compliance shop was going to throw away my Ohlins coilovers (ie. >16 way adjustable and good spring rates) because they told me they were "rusted out" (sand blasting fixed the surface rust).

I've got a few videos of it as well, none came out too well but they show a crowded track. I would have preferred it if they limited the numbers a little on the track, I don't mind letting people pass on straights if I'm too slow in a corner for them, but taking down the inside in a corner is stupid, I slow down to not understeer and they slow down so they don't understeer...there were some guys who cut me off I'm glad I'd upgraded to the QFM A1RM pads on the front, no braking problems at all Next time I'd prefer to run semi-slicks so I'll be harder to catch in the corners. EDIT: whats a normal speed to take the corners at? On the final corners I was doing about 80 - 90km/h and I'd reach about 120-140km/h on the straight before hitting traffic (not literally of course ) Anything above that on corners and I would understeer or oversteer quite a lot, also what pressure were you running in your tyres? I was running my usual street pressure about 38PSI all round....on 235/45/17
-
I was there and it was interesting, but I couldn't get much grip on the track, I was running street tyres and too higher pressure in them. Anything much beyond 80 in a corner and I'd understeer, although that was my first time at Winton, great track. It was a lot further from Melbourne than I thought and I was frustrated that no one would follow the don't pass on corners rule. It was a little dangerous with people trying to go down the inside during a corner so you both hit the brakes hard so we don't understreer into each other, so we both took the corner extra slow. The two WRX's I saw were very professional Definitely looking at buying some semi-slicks before next track day (I hope).

Help With Some General Maintenance On My R33
some_cs_student replied to ScaryTed77's topic in General Maintenance
I've used some rust off (rost off?) on my diff area, I went over it with a metal brush and then coated it in a rust converter, then a rust primer, then a paint over it to prevent it happening again. -
Camber Angle Parts? What Do I Need?
some_cs_student replied to Smitizen's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Suspension shops often offer to supply them if you ask....I had my rear's done at Traction tyres -
Ok great, I did get told that in the first page but the Winton website mentions a compulsory driver briefing session at 9:30AM which was confusing me. Thanks
-
There was another post after that quoting Caltex that there was a new temperature thing that takes into account temperature in March or similar....so different time of the day shouldn't make much difference.
-
I'll be leaving on the day too but hopefully later than 5:30AM, South Eastern suburbs. I am trying to get confirmation from Winton that I can arrive late and still get track time

Problem With Breaks
some_cs_student replied to Januss's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Stoned? There is probably a tutorial on removing brake discs / brake pads somewhere, its supposed to be not that hard for the rotors, not sure about the pads.... -
Sorry, it was by "Chang" at the B shop next to McDonald's, it did take a while to get there and back but I'm just glad its fixed, it was driving me insane having a brand new phone I couldn't turn on and off Thanks
-
At 100W I would say there is a good chance you will be doing damage to your headlights, not to mention you will blind other drivers, and get pulled over by the next policeman to see your lights
-
Hmm, in Vic for compliance they remove the speakers and put little child restraint brackets over where the speaker goes.
-
Ah damn, I could have waited and probably saved a few $$$, I dropped off the phone and was told to come back in 40mins-1hour and it cost $65 to get a new switch in. All good now, last time I ever remove the top of the case lol. Thanks anyway.

Replacing Front Castor Bushes....
some_cs_student replied to Curmi's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hmm, normally I'd recommend Traction Tyres but there in rowville and normally pretty busy so you need to book in advance, excellent service though -
Tracking Down Performance-wise
some_cs_student replied to Fitzpatrick Speed Works's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
For the parts I bought it did take a while but he got them through in the end, they are normally very busy so will take a while to reply to PM's. There a known good seller here so just PM them and be polite... -
Hey, I'm in Burnley near the Yarra, I'll look for this place on Church street then. Thanks. Not quite sure where the Maccas on Church street is though....EDIT: seems to be a bit past Bridge road heading towards Victoria street. Oh and was that a "3" shop rather than a "B" shop? What's a B shop?
