The Turbocharger Upgrade Faq
some_cs_student replied to paulr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
People are more time-poor so having summary threads vs searching and reading a few opinions and then reading the next 10 threads about it, I know what I'd choose Anyway, great idea and good luck with the turbo FAQ... Oh, and I'm pretty sure I'm under that 500 posts but I can search.... -
I haven't checked with Nissan yet, everyone who had been quoted was somewhere around $450 or so. Are you sure that it "drains" power in the lower end of the rev range? The only difference with the fan is it has 7 blades rather than 9 and they are more curved... I mean, a brand new RB30 clutch fan should be similar in efficiency to a brand new R33 one shouldn't it? Or are you saying the fan is less efficient?

Bigger Rims = More Expensive Tires?
some_cs_student replied to jarthel's topic in General Automotive Discussion
There's also the fact that most of our Japanese cars use wider tyres than most other cars, eg. R33 GTR's are 17 * 9inch from the factory. Not the most common size but not too expensive... In fact my R31's standard tyres are just 10 or 20mm wider than the usual holden tyres and cost more -
Why Does The Weather Affect The Way My Car Runs?
some_cs_student replied to 4drftn's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Are you running a stock ECU or aftermarket? I noticed that with my PowerFC the car usually starts at 1500RPM and settles down to 1000 pretty quickly (maybe 1/2minute?). With the MINES ECU it used to go to about 1200 and hover between 950 and 1100 RPM pretty soon after (as in it would stay constant for a couple of mins then change for a couple mins most of the time it stayed on the same idle....). EDIT: Most of the time I've been using the car during warm/hot weather, not really cold weather... -
It Seems Some People Are Too Stupid To Drive
some_cs_student replied to blind_elk's topic in Victoria
There is a article somewhere on this forum about legal rules, one of the mentioned rules is that police don't have to show you the radar gun/laser reading. However, it does look bad on there behalf if they don't and you got to court, as zorb_rules has pointed out above. -
Boss Kit Off R33 Gtr

Any offers at all? I would like to get rid of this... -
$70 for 5 litres? Try Harold from Performancelub next time. His oils are cheap and he sells the "German" castrol, I might try Royal Purple next. Regards, Gareth

Bleed Attessa
some_cs_student replied to Pezhead's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Were you leaving the car running or turning it on and off? I just put mine into ignition, let it pump it out for 5 or 10seconds and then shut if off again for a while. As recommended by a tutorial somewhere on here... It did not take long before the entire container was pumped out....AWD system felt better after putting fresh fluid in I think it was only 5 or 6 times for all the fluid to disappear. -
How To Remove A Bolt That Wont Budge
some_cs_student replied to gtrzilla's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I used the jack handle for things like this with a really long socket extension (diff bolts), however the socket got stripped, NOT the bolt. We just had to get another socket and it came out. -
PM sent. The MINES ECU will be on Ebay by Monday night so if anyone wants it just ask or buy it off ebay (probably for very little ).

Has anyone done this before? I know there are some posts about R31 clutch fans fitting R33's on this forum... Ah found this post from Bl4cK32: In RB30 clutch fan I think he has some of the information confused that clutch fan that fits correctly has a longer/thinner shaft. The RB30E shaft is very short, which means it will not fit on an R33.... So I think I need an RB30ET clutch fan, hopefully I can get that on Tuesday. Anyone need an RB30E clutch fan? Happy Easter! Regards, Gareth

Ignore him and buy my MINES ECU . Just kidding... The MINES ECU's are *ok* but nothing compared to a fully adjustable ECU like the PowerFC. However you can't tell what they were tuned for which is a bad thing. Oh, to get a big benefit from an aftermarket ECU there are a few basic mods you should do first, covered in the FAQ's somewhere on the forum

Shell Vpower Or Bp Ultimate
some_cs_student replied to Marko R1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hold on a sec, the article talks about V power racing (100 octane with some ethanol) and your talking about Vpower (98 octane)? They're different things, one costs more and is extremely difficult to find My tuner recommends a 100 octane fuel for track days so thats what I used last time, but I use BP ultimate for day to day and its been fine. -
Where To Buy Bolts On Weekends In Se Suburbs?
some_cs_student replied to some_cs_student's topic in Victoria
Haha, I don't think its going to work. I've found a few posts on SAU about these fitting, I'm wondering if the other models of R33's are different to the RB26DETT setup on the front.... -
4wd Symbol On A R33 Gtr
some_cs_student replied to DrEaM_oN's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Did you check the fluid reservoir in the boot of the car to make sure it has fluid? That will certainly stop your ATTESA system from working... -

Hi guys, According to the Burson's book the R31 clutch fan is compatible with the R33 clutch fan. The R33's clutch fan was slipping very badly, even at temperature it could be held with 1 finger while idling and after been let go it would not start moving for about 5 or 10 seconds. The problem is the R31 clutch fan has a shorter shaft, this causes it to hit the pulley behind it on the R33 GTR. And its also about 3-4cm away from the radiator itself. Can anyone confirm if they have managed to fit an R31 clutch fan to an R33 GTR? I've heard of it fitting on non-GTR's, the only way I can see it fitting is finding a way to replace the bolts (studs) that come from behind the pulley with longer ones. Any ideas? Regards, Gareth

Where To Buy Bolts On Weekends In Se Suburbs?
some_cs_student replied to some_cs_student's topic in Victoria
Looks like there are studs on that pulley and its not going to be easily removed, I will have to delay to Monday now unless Thanks for the help, but I need to find a way to make the R31 viscous coupling fit still.... I've started a new thread here about the issue: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...us-t211451.html -
Where To Buy Bolts On Weekends In Se Suburbs?
some_cs_student replied to some_cs_student's topic in Victoria
Haha, I'm looking for bolts that the fan viscous coupling attaches to but I need them to be longer than standard So fit 10mm nuts and longer than standard. Thanks a lot for the suggestions so far. Getting things during the week is hard because I work around 9-6:30PM most days and I want my skyline back now -
Hey, A little bit weird but I need some new bolts for the GTR (and nuts) for my viscous fan coupling. In the end the Bursons book said the R31 viscous coupling is compatible with R33's but it doesn't fit. I mean you can bolt it on but the coupling will not clear the pulley behind it, some damage was done to the coupling so I can't take it back for a refund, new plan is to get longer bolts and space it out by 10 or 20mm to allow it to clear the pulley and get closer to the radiator (its sitting a few centimetres away). Anyway, does anyone know a company that sells bolts on the weekend? The bolts fit 10mm nuts on them, I need to find out the length which I will know soon. I do plan to visit Supercheap and Autobarn but not sure if they have them. I know the Melbourne Bolt company is open Monday to Friday, anyone have any suggestions? Regards, Gareth

39 Degree Day Today - How Were Your Water Temps?
some_cs_student replied to limpus's topic in Victoria
limpus do you have an R32? Does anyone know if this will apply, and does it refer to the small fan in front of the radiator: R32 - Have Your Overheat Fan Turn On With Your A/c, USING ONLY A SINGLE DIODE!!! I've seen myn turn on at around 60degrees on the R33, or something close to it.
