  1. Hey, I've had a slight overheating problem on the track and I don't think any damage was done I had an instructor driving and my fluid boiled (I didn't find out until we got back into the pits), I'm pretty sure I need a new viscous coupling for the fan, does anyone know where to get one in the South Eastern suburbs? EDIT: R31 couplings fit so I'm getting one pretty cheap and will fit it soon. Regards, Gareth
  2. Fast eddies would have been alright , the carpark is pretty small though, and the pool used to be reasonably priced there. Maybe next time....
  3. I'm not sure about the N/A airboxes but the GTR ones which are different are good for upto 300RWKW at least, pods may make a slight difference on turbo's if there boxed and not sucking in hot air but they do attract police attention. Highflow panel filters include pipercross, K&N, Apexi, pipercross is about $60 to $70. Headers, cat back and high flow cat do make a difference in my opinion, on a non-turbo just don't go too large on the exhaust or you will lose back pressure. There some sellers on here selling high flow cats, the better ones cost more $$$
  4. Think we might have found it, the fan does not use much force when spinning. Ie. if we hold the fan when we turn the car on, ok. If we hold it, run it for 5-6mins and the temperature in the water reaches 90degrees and oil 70 degrees, still nearly no resistance, the fan is not trying to spin. We suspect the viscous coupling of the fan, just need to find another one and hopefully the problem will be solved R31 coupling's will fit (what a surprise), BUT I had to buy an holden fan to go with it....my R33 GTR fan did not fit on the new viscous coupling. However the coupling itself did not fit see: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/fo...-f-t210569.html Or does an R31 clutch fan fit R33 GTR for updates on this.
  5. Hi, I did the high-performance driving day at Sandown with the driver dynamics group, most of the day I was pushing it pretty hard but would do 2 hot laps and then a couple of slow laps to cool it down. I had an instructor drive my car, Chris, he was great but we went around for 4 laps, since he was driving I didn't notice the gauges in the A-pillar. The oil gauge had the warning light on and had hit 120degrees and the water temperature was 115 degrees. We warmed down the car by idling it, then shut it off about 2 minutes later. The coolant was boiling in the 1st overflow tank after 5mins later, so I drove it around at about 50km/h to try and get some air in there to cool it down, the oil dropped briefly to 110 degrees but then went up to 120 degrees and water went to 130 degrees. Anyway, I took it back and parked it, about 20minutes later the water temperature dropped back down to 70degrees or so, engine was still about 100 degrees. All the coolant (or a huge amount of it) had been boiled out on the track, we had to top it up with water, and after that it was ok again. I run a Greddy/Trust radiator (a thick aluminum radiator), it also has a small Apexi overflow bottle, and then the normal R33 GTR overflow bottle on the LHS. Note: all done by Japanese owner. There is no oil cooler... Oh, and with the radiator cap off, and the engine running, it pushes water back out of the radiator....is that normal? Does this sound like there is something wrong? And where do I start looking? The car drove home without any problems, the only recent change is a PowerFC and a tune by Ben from Racepace. Oh, and it was a 35 degree day. Engine oil is (German, really American) Castrol 5w40. Regards, Gareth P.S. thanks to the SAU guys for helping me out with this on the day.
  6. I've seen dark tint and little window shades to hide the lights on the back, I don't think there is anything illegal about them having tint, there exempt from most other rules anyway. I've seen this done nearly 2 years ago, except it was not skylines and he wasn't revving it, just trying to take someone down the left, speeding up and then backing off again, it looked suspect and in the end he was an unmarked cop and pulled the guy who kept dragging him over. Cops have pretended to take me down the left, I ignored them and I didn't get in any trouble for it, they were very professional during the RBT later.
  7. Just a long list of mods that they said were difficult to remove, mainly suspension related, very few performance mods themselves. Eg. aftermarket front rotors, upper/lower control arms, suspension, braided brake lines, little things that add up time-wise. Anyway, this thread is really old, this is all from last year. Oh, me and the importer made a deal at the end so it did work out (sorta).
  8. R31 skylines are safe, except in wet weather I wouldn't recommend the newer skylines for a first car.
  9. Hey, we may have done the driver training day together, I'm terrible with names No brake pads so if I can't do too many hot laps then I won't. Brake fluid I haven't done, I'll get my car back tomorrow evening so I'm going to get it and do the brake fluid change tomorrow night (so disorganised). Do you know how much fluid I'll need? Need to find some quality fluid, Motul RBF600 Regards, Gareth
  10. Hey, I personally like some of the looks of the R33 GTR, but the R34 GTR is a superior car, but then again the new GTR is superior to that as far as power/handling go too bad you can't buy it here! Anyway, it should come down to price if you like the looks of the R34, its a big price gap at the moment....(a decreasing gap but still a big gap). Regards, Gareth
  11. Come on guys, I've been waiting 6months, anyone got a car I can borrow yet? lol I had trouble getting it through but I worked something out with the compliance workshop and the importer in the end, it did take nearly 9months all up and there was over a month in compliance mostly over this issue. The car has been registered since roughly October last year Sure, I've clearly kept the business name(s) out of this but feel free to PM me if your interested, and R31Nismoid already warned us back in October But thanks anyway. Regards, Gareth
  12. Nope no need for the Australian characters Do you have the model code? After it refuses to run the VIN it asks me to input a model code...not sure if it will help or not. Can someone else re-run the VIN? - Gareth
  13. Accepting all reasonable offers on this one.
  14. My new thread was closed so I'll be using this one again (no email notification, so please PM me) . $450 ONO, please make offers if your interested.
  15. I've tired both European and Japanese files and I can't find: VIN-code of : WGNC340 19073 The second number needs to be 6 digits so I also tried: WGNC34 019073 What year in the car? My FAST files are pretty old. Regards, Gareth
  16. Well yes, you should be using good quality fully synthetic oils I might see you at the track day?
  17. Apparently even the factory ones are illegal in R33's, they're supposed to be self-levelling and one other requirement that I can't recall
  18. I found the only way to remove the smell after washing it a little was really strong vanilla essence, leave it for a while and it will wear off but at least it helps get rid of the spew smell.
  19. Glad I'm using 5w40 , just watch your oil temperature and if its getting too hot its time for a break You normally bring your own helmet, you can ask Kevin if you want to hire, I don't know how many helmets he has. Regards, Gareth

Item: R34 GTR Struts (springs and shocks, front and rear) Age: Unknown Condition: Excellent Price: $450 + postage ONO To Fit: (What car) R33 or R34 GTR's as well as R34 turbo models (not R34 N/A) Location: Melbourne Contact: PM or email somecsstudent(at)gmail.com Comments: Please PM me offers if you are interested. 21. Had to work 10:30 to 12:45PM due to been on pager but its all from home so I miss the heat
  22. I've seen this done with 4WD tyres and its very difficult. I've done it on go-kart tyres (tiny compared to car tyres) and its absolute hell to get them on, I would pay the $$$ to get it done properly rather than risk damaging the rim or tyre.
  23. I'm with Modena, it would be a lot more than a scratched panel if you tried to kill the dog. Take it out on the owner, NOT the dog. And no, I'm not suggesting you hang the owner, just sort it out with him.
  24. If you want bass outside the car you need to tow a trailer around with subs in it, just like in Fat Pizza... Why would you want more noise outside the car? Is that to annoy other people or something? Keep the noise inside your car!
