  1. Your referring to one on each side of the boot facing outwards right? Because pointing them toward each other would be a really bad idea...
  2. Does the sound occur only on gear changes? And when getting off (no noise) and then accelerating with a clunk sound coming from towards the back of the car?
  3. I'm paying a bit under 2K, insured for 33K, on an R33 GTR with moderate mods, but I'm 23 with a perfect driving history (and no insurance claims)
  4. Ok, so we took it and spent a couple hours, 3 holes in the welding on the "good" side, a few centimetres taken out of the other side and we smoothed out the area between the flanges and the cat, one side its even, exhaust headers to cat its a tiny step down (fraction of an inch, we decided to leave it but to smooth it out). Lining it up without a jig was a bit of a challenge but its perfectly lined up. So its in the car now and done properly, I strongly recommend against get any work done by a particular shop on Chesterville Rd Moorabbin near the intersection of Keys Road.
  5. I might have a quick read of that material later . In regard to the bulb in the dash why remove it? I mean if I have the sensor tucked away, then its not going to get really hot and go off is it? And if it does which light informs you that the cat is too hot? Or is it just a function of the power FC? Regards, Gareth
  6. Hey, Were you talking to me or someone else? Anyway, it would all depend on the difference, I looked around and found I could save $30 bucks if I went with another trader who did not have them in stock. Or go second hand, the items on Ebay are mostly without hand controllers so if I buy it for $700 + $200 for the hand controller I'm paying $900, and I could pay an extra $80 and get a brand new one. However, if I remembered slidewize could get good deals (I had a quick check and saw them going for similar to Australian prices when I checked) or Nengun could save me $100 of course I would have waited Regards, Gareth
  7. Well you already know what is happening with the cat I'm getting rid of the stock cat and getting a high-flow panel filter but I only made 156.6 AWKW on Rays dyno, so I'm not so sure what this weird Mines ECU is running, could be pinging on Australian fuel for all I know. I want to get a PowerFC eventually, and I'm only doing a trackday once every, maybe 6 months, so might as well get the Power FC first
  8. Yeah, ripped off pretty bad. Justin911 has offered me something that I can measure in the morning and return to him before the evening, so I'm taking him up on the offer and getting it welded by someone who knows what there doing. The place I went to was an exhaust shop so you'd assume they would know what they're doing. Regards, Gareth
  9. Well I have a 3 inch exhaust so they probably put some larger flanges on to attach to the exhaust The exhaust place I went to was VERY dodgy. The welds were also low quality so I'm hoping to get it properly done now. The "bad" side does not even have a square weld on it. Its going to have to be cut and re-welded (properly) on one side.
  10. Compliance cat had 3 inch flanges because I had a 3inch exhaust The compliance cat was ok but now its pretty much destroyed so I can't sell it Don't think it was worth much anyway... Regards, Gareth
  11. I hope to have a highly tuned efficient skyline (tuned suspension, possibly upgraded brakes), however it will probably still be running stock turbo's and a lot of investment in everything besides the car
  12. Hey, So I bought a stainless steel 3 inch high flow cat with no flanges. I work roughly 9-6PM during the week sometimes later so I waited till this Saturday to take out the compliance cat and ring around. I found a shop in Moorabbin that would do the flanges for $50, so I dropped round, he didn't have 3inch flanges so he offered to take the flanges off the compliance cat and put them on the new cat. I said ok. He has somehow managed to add 200 to 300mm onto the length of the new cat and I cannot fit it into my exhaust system, the new cat was the correct length before he added this length. So does anyone have a compliance/standard/aftermarket 3inch cat that I could borrow for a day or two so we can compare the measurements? I have an engineering friend who offered to do the welding correctly (very bad welding too), BUT I need a cat to compare to so we weld at the correct length and angle. Happy to put down some kind of deposit of course, just advise me if you can lend it to me for a day or two. Oh, and I've booked into RacePace Wednesday so I need it soon..... Anyone have a cat I can borrow? Please....? I will offer some cash for the lend... Oh, if anyone can confirm if R33 GTST/GTR and other models are the same cat that would be great Regards, Gareth
  13. Thanks but to make things harder, the person who removed the flanges added some of the old cat to the new cat. Its now about 3cm too long to even fit in! So now I can't drive the car until Tuesday while I wait for this guy to get back to work, and I have to take time off work so he can fix it.
  14. Can't help with the specific stores but the very first post had two pictures with what looks like part numbers. Are RB26's skyline the Z145A? (I know its a number like that but can't quite remember). Regards, Gareth
  15. I agree with the first paragraph but not the second. Why higher temps for a worn engine? I mean are you saying that you expect your engine to run hotter as it gets more warn and will therefore need a oil with a higher number at the end (forget the technical term for this )? I've been told to keep the numbers closer together, so 0w30 is good is you are not hitting temps like 110degrees (or was it a bit less)? At that point the oil is too thin and you should be using something w40....or even higher if you are a track car... Regards, Gareth
  16. So leave it hanging there so to speak? (I'll tie it up to something but it just won't be in the cat . From a quick read of the threads (searched for cat temperature bung and found nothing) its just used to warn you when the air in the cat is too hot? Thanks for your help as always Regards, Gareth
  17. R33 GTR seats make the driver look small because they sit low, in my opinion who cares? Does your friend want a car or a fashion accessory? If he wants something to look big in, maybe a large SUV rather than a sports car. Or if he wants to look big *inside* the car get a Micra or Smart car I buy my cars irrespective of what other people *might* think I look like in them, you don't have to be tall to own an R33 GTR!
  18. The group buy doesn't supply the pads for the brembo's on R33 GTR's . So I'll have to do with what I have for now, I'm out of money and its too late to get them before the track day, if I have to retire early I will retire early on the day and get pads waaaay before next track day Regards, Gareth
  19. Hi, I got a 3inch highflow cat with no flanges from a seller off the forum, I spent most of the morning ringing exhaust shops to get flanges fitted, quotes were $70 to $100. I found one for $50. When I got there he said he had only one 3 inch flange and that he could use the flanges off the compliance cat, so I let him use them. However he said he couldn't fit the temperature bung because I had to have the part for him, probably from Nissan. What does the temperature bung do on the cat? Do I need it? And where can I get it from in South Eastern suburbs, Victoria? Regards, Gareth
  20. These didn't sell so price dropped to $450 + postage. Not negotiable at this price!
  21. I was quoted $980 and $950 by two traders on this forum, although I paid extra to get it "quickly" as they had one in stock. If I planned this out a little more I might have been able to get one through slidewize imports (great trader) or nengun or similar.
  22. jetpilot1986 is the distributor, so hopefully he can comment on the QFM pads...(and confirm with a valid source).
  23. Hey, Found two posts saying you can fit GTR shock's to R34 GTT's, anyone know if this is true: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...l=r34+gtr+r34tt http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ni...l=r34+gtr+r34tt ?
  24. Hey, I think they will fit R33 and R34, I think R32 are different for springs, not 100% sure about the shocks, you could ask around
