Replace 460LPH Walbro with?
burn4005 replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
im interested in milling off the supply hose and fitting a sharp 90 degree bulkhead fitting to minimise losses around that bend, and also be able to upgrade to -6 ot -8 in the future. I'm using a pwm fuel pump controller so i'm not worried about the return line or jet pump line sizes. would a -8 90 degree bulkhead fit under the pump cover or would I need to go a -6? one of these: or these: (worried about clearance due to radius)- 52 replies

any issue sealing the bulkhead fittings? the top looks nice and flat but underneath appears to have webbing etc. I hate the smell of fuel in the car!- 52 replies

Piece together a Nismo style oil cooler kit for R34
burn4005 replied to etang789's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
bit of closure for this thread. I bought a carbon bumper vent off ebay, had to chop a bit off the ducting as the cooler is a bit wider than its moulded for, and I used the nismo bracket set, made fitting MUCH easier. basically the outside edge of the cooler is the datum point for the kit, and it just sits in a bit further than the nismo core would, so had to modify the bracket slightly to line up with the inner mounting points of the cooler. the fin row closest to the fittings sits outside the ductwork so its operating more like a 24 core. very happy with it and should be WAY more effective than in front of the radiator.- 31 replies

thinner wire has a higher resistance, meaning a greater voltage drop over its length. the power loss in that drop in voltage gets dissipated as heat in the wire. I'd be using 12-14 AWG wire, if its a short run 14 is ok, if its long use 12. A 460 at 75+psi & 14v is up around ~20 amps of current. also of note, the bulkhead pipes in the R34 fuel tank hat are plastic and appear to be a bit thinner than the R32-33 hat. might be an optical illusion, but they look a bit smaller to my eye.- 52 replies

R33 GTR engine overheating issue - low boost
burn4005 replied to Tomak's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'd recommend installing a coolant breather tank. You can get knock off greddy ones from ebay for cheap and since I've done mine I've never had coolant issues, and it's constantly bleeding itself from the head and radiator when running. Most overheating rb26s are due to not being bled properly and one of these takes the guess work out of it. If you've overheating on the track at speed it's not your fans. -
Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
burn4005 replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
a 3076 pushing 70+lb/min of air at that pressure ratio is going to be HOT. compressor efficiency would be down in the mid 50's and the rotating assembly not long for this world, not to mention terrible in/ex pressure ratios doing the engine no favours. the turbine expansion ratio is going to be well over 6:1. the percieved power "advantage" of the precisions/garrets is you can run them outside their operating envelope and they'll go for a while, making right on the limit/more than their rated power. but you are going to run into issues, such as sonic blade tips/choke. the gamma Ti on the back end of the EFRs will be destroyed in short order, which means you have to size them properly for the application. some people see that as a weakness, but it has been engineered to operate in a particular range, which is the trade off from running such an incredibly light turbine wheel. the speed sensor bung is there for a reason. -

i hope you're right, that pump should be making 400kw easy on e85. it looks like you're running the wiring through the stock power connector, any evidence of hot contacts/melted plastic or all good?- 52 replies

your other option is to run a voltage booster, Walbros will take up to 16v happily and flow shitloads more. at 16v you're looking at around 560lph at 70psi on a 460, but lots of current.- 52 replies

Camshaft selection for a 1000hp RB26/30.

So if they're the same as poncams What do you mean thry shifted power too far to the right then? In comparison to what cams? -

Will keep that in mind, thanks Simon currently running 260/9.15 poncams so will see how they go before doing anything drastic. -

were they the 182-S cams (274/10.8mm)? Im interested in what you mean by too big, as in the powerband was a bit too late for the turbo you were running? i cant remember if you've got a 6262 or 6466? JHH and kelford recommended them to me running a 2.6L with an 8374 on E85. -

wow 600kw of E85 and the little nismo fuel reg is keeping up! is it using a variable speed pump? -
Hi, I've got an E1280s that Ive written custom code for and would be very interested to see your base map as a starting point for my tuning. Thanks Alex
-
why would you run this instead of say a GTX4202r, Precision 7675 or a Borg Warner Airwerks s400-SXE 100x76? its unnecessarily large and meant for a diesel truck. you're going to need to run 35+ psi to make 1000 hp on one of those and that is way north of the efficiency range of an old GT series compressor.

https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-36050-Keeper-Remover-Installer/dp/B0012S61IO did my evo valve springs with one of these tools.. worked great. either compressed air or shove a clean rag down into the cylinder to protect the piston crown. turn to tdc to hold valve up.- 17 replies

500kw through a Catalytic Converter. am I dreaming? Hey Guys, EFR8374 is going on the gtr over the next few weeks, power will be in the 460-500kw @ wheels range. 3.5" exhaust all the way. is a 5" metal cat going to do it? otherwise use a straight pipe for the track, and run a cat on the street? alternative is this i guess:

I've jumped on the divided single gate bandwagon because of plumbing headache of twin gates. my only concern is boost creep due to 90 degree turn the flow needs to do to get out, but with high enough exhaust manifold pressure I'm hoping that shouldn't be too much of an issue. the divider is very well constructed to the contours of the wastegate valve face, and the seat ring JUST fits over the ends. for all intents and purposes they are insolated until the gate opens.
