Turbo Replacement/upgrade - Your Thoughts?
AlexCim replied to pixel8r's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
just for my information, ball bearing or bush bearing core? GCG does a bush bearing core for 1350 and a ball bearing core for 1950, although i think they stopped making the bush bearing due to oil starvation issues/debatable user friendliness) Search in the forced induction section for "slides turbo" and you will see the whole bush vs bearing discussion The only other place that I got a qoute for a turbo from was "Eastern Turbochargers" here in Melbourne in Bayswater. He qouted the same price as GCG and when he asked if i got my turbo from GCG and I asked how he knew, he said that GCG and ETC are the only two turbo shops that have the tools to properly highflow a turbo using garret internal (Like, a special balancing tool or proceedure). Also, is that turbo from WA using genuine Garret internals? (I am really not dissing anything here, I am just wanting to learn more about the aftermarket turbocharger/high flow market) -
Turbo Replacement/upgrade - Your Thoughts?

Yeh thats fine mate, I am sure you are going to be happy either way. Just like i told beastian when he first put his GCG on, the first thing you will think is going to be "wow, this turbo makes this car the way it should have been from the factory" It really transforms the car mate, its really a "must" upgrade for a stagea in my opinion. Let us all know how it goes though. Mention this specifically to anyone highflowing a turbo "make sure you put the wastegate arm back on at the correct angle for the stock actuator, i dont want it stuck open on idle therefore making this turbo a lag monster"..... or there abouts -
Like I said, they are not tinted, it is the color of the glass. Hence, you cant ever get done for not meeting ADR's with window light trasmissivity. You can still be defected, but you dont need to replace the glass to pass a RWC or whatever. The only stageas I have seen with tint are the ones that have tinted the front windows to match the rears. Hence, refer to my above comments.

flood lights on the rear anyone? my window has no tint what so ever, its the glass. I cant see any mention of any tint anywhere at all. Maybe yours has extra tint to stock. Ive always found the rear window clear enough.

Turbo Replacement/upgrade - Your Thoughts?

I am selling that 2nd hand GCG for pretty cheap IMO. If you buy that turbo its uhh, 4 hours off the road time, not even 2 days mate, do it at home in a night. I know you might be weary of buying 2nd hand goods, specially turbos, but ask people like beastian, AMS, humble, FUZZY and Tangles and they will all tell you I am a genuine guy and wouldnt lie about anything if there was something wrong. Regarding response, honestly, if an RB25 isnt one of the most responsive turbo engines youve driven id love to hear what else is. The GCG is about 500rpm laggier than stock, i didnt even notice any more lag that stock.....just HEAPS more power I hit full boost around 2750rpm, with a tune that should be around 2500rpm... Your choice -
Splitfire Coilpacks For Stagea/r33 S2
AlexCim replied to AlexCim's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
thought so. couldnt remove em for a little while anyway as the car is at the panel beaters and has them installed. -
unique the only thing that i dislike is the lack of rear doors and also how the sideskirts come in in the middle. what the hell is it with people these days, they get massive wheel arches but the sideskirts bend in. I hate that. It just makes the car look stupid, with big arches. At least if the skirt was flared too it would look "fat"

As everyone will say, a GCG highflow is a very good route to take. Well proven and GREAT upgrade turbo. I am selling my old one here. It has about 7500km on it and is only removed as the car is getting sold. I was going to keep it to go on an R32 GTS4 but have since changed my mine in car choice. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=127238 -

ive never changed my copper washer and have never leaked oil? Thats like 4-5 oil changes so far... -
id be willing to give blood and all and ill just have to suck up to my fear of needles etc. in the end, ive nearly been killed a few times and used blood before so best to give back to the community (... sheesh, needed blood already and im only 19) time and date dependent though.

Id probably be coming to this event all based on when my university exams are. also, car as of yet to be confirmed
-
did you buy new from nissan?
-
f**k that, i just go to the local carpark and rip some donuts, drift between the poles and then set up cones and do time attacks. haha.. i wish we could

RB25 Plenums have vaccum nipples that arnt used. I think there is 1 at the front and 1 at the rear. I know I am using 1 at the rear. It will have just a little rubber thing over it for the time being.

You mean the signitures? Go into your control panel, edit your signiture and put in an image there using the tag as if posting in a normal thread.
-
Yes, yes they are
-
here you go fellas. For those that have had a smash, heres a guideline for some repair costs
-
Yes, a cop will still defect you. You understand in victoria, there physically doesnt have to be anything wrong with the car, its just up the police mans discresion. Like, cant remember who but they got pulled over in a Stagea and the cop said "thats illegal", then they said "its factory", then they coped a defect for it being illegal darkness, then they went to a tint place and got a letter saying that its not tinted to lift the defect. Mate, its f**king INSANE here...
-
I dont think SK understands the extent of defecting here in Melbourne. They wont go as sarcastic as what he described, but they do (and have had many friends done) defect for things like not enough clicks in the handbrake, not enough water in the washer bottle, a loose speaker wire etc etc Trust me, you DONT want to cut the chassis. I mean, the chance of a stagea being pulled over is almost zero but what about RWC tightasses when you sell the car. What if you return the car to std and you dont want a big hole there for the person to see it was demodified? Talk to me, I told you I have a set of piping for sale. I've learnt through hard lesson not to cut anything that isnt uncuttable these days (aka, replaceable)

are you going to be sticking around thursday? I have uni thursdays from 9-1 and id really love to see a 260RS in the flesh before i commit myself to buying one (I know id be happy anyways)

I am of the personal opinion that nothing meaningful can really eventuate from a club met relationship anyway, so yes, those chicks are fun
-
Man, some DAYS I hit the limiter 4-5 times.....and thats in an AUTO My RB's never missed a beat, give it good oil and genuine everything else. I dont think its a matter of not wanting to buy his car, rather, someone really wanting to buy yours
-
Taso84 - crust answered your question. Chicks there are pretty mad though. Well, if you are into that kind of a thing.
