  1. i dont have a problem with an apprentice working on my car just as long as they are supervised as all apprentices should be. speaking as a qualified trademan as i used to be an apprentice and i have an apprentice under me at work. apprentices can be good workers, with the right mind for the job and the right qualified people working above them. if you dont like the idea of an apprentice working on your car, talk to the mechanic. simply request that the most experienced person do the job
  2. mate save the money and keep your stock pump. it is possibe. i completely removed the whole hicas setup. motor at the rear, plumbing and solenoid. (even the globe out of the dash.) the power steering steel line that runs from the pump, under the front of the motor, to the solenoid has been plumbed straight to the power steering cooler. thats all you need to do.
  3. ive been to japan twice now and spend just under 10 weeks total there and not once saw a round-a-bout. the roads are a better layout compared to ours though. there is more people living in tokyo then australia so i reckon they need better transport then here!
  4. hey deren. i reckon i spend a good 3 months concidering subs and an amp for my setup. i couldnt justify the extra weight for a bit better sound quality. im not into loud as music were the bloke 5 blocks away can here me, just as long as i can hear it im happy. when i redo my sound setup (after the motor rebuild) ill be just looking at some good mid range and tweeters with some good sound proofing behind the speakers to stop the doors flexing etc. subs and amps weight a ton. can you accept that extra weight?
  5. go to google. next to the search bar is language tools. copy the yahoo japan website you wanna read and then paste it into the translate bar on the language tools page. change it to japanese to english BETA. easiest way to do it is search through the pictures for what you want. open up that auction, then translate the auction page. if you wanna bid on it, contact slidewize and they can do that for you. they will need the original japanese address. not the translated one
  6. ahh here you guys go. http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k34266426 roughly $247 for the set
  7. was cruisin yahoo japan for an actuator and spotted a set of window seals on there. i didnt check the price but prolly a lot cheaper then nissan direct. slidewize website/r32/interior parts
  8. does anybody know the part number for the mode door actuator?
  9. i searched for ages and ended up forking out the cash at nissan for genuine. 76860-04U01 76861-04U01 these are the part numbers. $536 in total it cost me and the doors still leak. i need to replace the door seals now...
  10. r32matt, do you have a copy of the workshop manual? its got a diagnostics part in the heater section. the best way to figure out your problem is to run that fully. pm me if you dont have it. sorry for hijacking your thread...
  11. i think this is the mode door actuator. can anybody confirm this before i start pulling things apart tomorrow after work? much appreciated
  12. this sounds like a great idea. ill try that if what i have in mind doesnt work. i finally got the vent check (step 3) to work as it was only coming up with '3' instead of a '30' number. like '31 32 33 34 35 36" when i ran it, all of these numbers came up flashing and changed from number to number, then stopped back on '3' from what i can understand, this could either be that every actuator is faulty, or the 'mode door actuator' is. pretty strong feeling that ALL of my actuators wouldnt fail in one go so i reckon its the mode door actuator. let me see if i can find this mode door actuator... anybody know its whereabouts or have a photo of it?
  13. http://hkskylineclub.com/new/forum_posts.a...ID=310&PN=2 im still searching but this may be of some help...
  14. ive had the same issue with my gtr for ages. while its off the road im gonna see if i can find out what it is. apparently there is a control box (electrical) somewhere that controls the vents. this sometimes fails. thats all i know so far. has anybody had this issue or knows what the problem is? im driving an r32gtr
  15. love it. put my name down for one.
  16. this is what i had when i did mine for 6 months. this is what the police officer told me and thats what the courtesy letter read when i got it. i was already half way through my first month when the letter arrived.
  17. yea paul is right. the amount of point you recieve depends on what exactly you were doing. i dont know what they are but for example between 10 and 15kms over would = ... points. 15 to 20kms over = ... points etc the police dont have the power to change the amount of points you recieve
  18. it must have been as the mechanic didnt want my business anymore after they had fitted them. they had underestimated the job and thus the cost so i was clearly the winner on that day!
  19. yep. the fine should have how many demerit points you have lost written on it.
  20. speaking from experience here, if you did something that made you lose your license, or get it suspended, theres no way you will get out of it. cop it sweet, pay the fine and do the time.
  21. im with you dezz! its princes hwy peoples!
  22. are you talking about the fine or the courtesy letter you will get a few weeks later? if you were pulled over wouldnt the kind police officer have given you the fine there and then? the courtesy letter is exactly that. it tells you what happened, what you have to pay on the fine and how many points you lost etc. a basic facts letter
  23. what model car? if you ever ask a question about your car, tell us all what model your car is. u have an R33gtst in your avatar but a lot of people on the forum own or ask questions bout other cars as well i had the problem in my 89mdl r32gtr. it was a faulty speedo cable
  24. nice looking speedo mate. have you got it fitted yet? when i bought mine from japan, i was told it would suit my 89 model. when it arrived, i realised it was for 90+ models. i hope this isnt the case for you because its a bitch to swap over the speed sensors on them. its possible, but a bitch. any questions just shoot me a pm cheers, Ron
