  1. my trust dumps, front pipe was fitted with the motor and turbos still in the car. it took a full day with 2 mechanics swaring and cursing the whole way! there were modified spanners etc everywhere when i got there to pick it up.

  3. have you had it looked at? maybe ask the blokes that fitted it for you why the needle is bouncing. i have known of 4 32gtrs a 32gtst and a 180 that all had bouncing needles (my gtr included) and they all turned out to be worn speedo cables. i replaced my cable myself with a genuine new cable from nissan. works perfectly with both speedos that ive had in my car. im not saying that the speedo cable IS the fault, just a very good chance it is

  5. im gonna get jim to sort out my clutch when i start my rebuild. i think ill fry it pretty quickly even though ill be taking it easy. fresh motor and all. its pretty stuffed already. i think my motor has done pretty well for the good 170000kms its done on stock turbos. im looking at just a basic rebuild on the motor due to the flow of cash... it needs to be done as the head is cracked. still looking at using the original cams, valves, springs etc. so far ill be replacing the turbos, oil pump, ecu and getting the clutch reworked by jim. the water pump is new and so are a lot of the steel water lines. the water lines that havnt been replaced will be. hopefully ill get this started by the end of march, start of april...
  6. a bouncing or shaking speedo needle is a really strong sign that your speedo cable needs replacing. that cable also controls the steering to some extent. worth replacing it before it dies
  7. hey deren. ive been following this in silence since you started! im agreeing with what everybody has already said so im not gonna bother to tell you what a fantastic job you are doing and how much of an inspiration it is. oh crap i guess i just did... anyways, when are you getting to the actual rebuild of the motor? just curious as im gonna be rebuilding the motor out of my 32gtr in a couple months time when the cash is flowing a little better. your attention to detail is EXACTLY what i love to see. a great way for me to get any hints tips advice etc for my rebuild. good luck with the GTR mate.   8. the dumps and the front pipe is seperate. they are sold as 1 kit. well worth the investment IMO. but if u wanna upgrade your turbos, do them at the same time as its a bitch of a job...
  9. a must to look at the cooling system. ur radiator might seam fine but could possibily have a cracked tank. could be blocked to a certain extent. my cars cooling was fine til a hot day. i had the radiator flushed out and the guys at the radiator joint told me that it was over 40% blocked. then theres other things like steel cooling lines, rubber hoses that like to run through small pain in the arse spots (like between the firewall and block) and the heat transfer unit. (your oil filter bolts to it) my friends always ask me why ive spent so much money on my car and dont have any extra power. its cos im fixing all of these problems. boring stuff but without a good cooling system or oil system, car wont run.

  11. sports car + 18yr old = almost certain to do the inevitable. yes 3k for insurance is bloody expensive. i dont think u will get any cheaper though. being 18 wouldnt that car be the most expensive thing you own? your better off forking out the full comp. i did. im glad i did

  13. i got the trust dumps front pipe. u shoulda seen the look on my face when i saw the size of them! well worth the money. u can pick them up from autobarn for around the same price as nengun and if ur lucky they will be in stock in the warehouse. that way u get them way quicker then from japan. (sorry bout the pic size)
  14. i agree with paul. theres just too many extras that come with a power fc over the stock ecu. well worth doing
  15. sigsputnik, thats the sound of a dodgy cable. it hasnt broken yet but possibily will soon. for a 32gtr they are only 100 new from nissan. fairly cheap for a gtr part
  16. personally id go the power fc. a lot more can be done with them then the stock. for a daily driven look at doin some maintainence work. are you over the 100,000k mark yet? oil pump water pump. look at cooling lines. boring stuff i know but power is useless if the car doesnt run. for power mods i reckon the intake and exhaust. a good panel filter or pods with a CAI box. dumps front pipes catback and even a cat. power fc suspension

  23. sinistagtst is right. this has been covered plenty of times. try the search button and ull get lotsa info. im currently am doing a rebuild of my rb26dett in my 32 gtr at the moment. doing all my research now and ill be getting it started around march next year. from what ive figured out, to figure out what turbo suits u the best u need to figure out what the car will be used for mainly and what kinda power figure u want. im guessing at the moment for around 300 to 400 awkw with stuff all lag. i hate lag. ive decided on getting the hks gt-ss turbos. they would suit me the best i think. a lot of people that i talk to say that its not worth just upgrading to a better stock turbo. eg: 34gtr turbo. u may as well spend the little extra and get a way better turbo my 2c

  25. ive had 2 phone calls with jim so far and in total i reckon ive been on the phone for over 3 hours! so yea the bloke loves to talk. really sounds like he knows his stuff though so ill be getting my clutch and flywheel worked by him in the near future
