whats the castrol then? I was under the impression it was?
-
If you can understand it have a read of this it's well worth it, might have to read it a couple of time to full understand it I did http://63.240.161.99/motoroil/index.html I'll be trying the castrol 10w-60 next time I change the oil out, I been using motul oil at about twice the price but has been recommended to me to use this by a few guys here.

where's that? I have the exact same problem as well, am working on it at the moment but freekin everything here is closed so i can't get the fitting i need. Mine goes up to 4 on startup then hovers around 2 while driving, regardless of rpm, engine runs fine though no probs, i'm hoping when i hook up an external gauge it'll read properley then can be narrowed down to either dash gauge or sender.....
-
Firstly public holidays suck, you always go to do something cos you have the day off then something goes wrong and you can't get stuff cos everythings closed which generally means your worse off than when you started. AAAAAnyway, anybody know the part number for a oil pressure sender from an Rb26? and also of a dealer that might have one in stock? and also where to get a fitting like the one in the picture, it's one of those little screw in swage fittings but the bastard cracked and crumbled as I tightened it up. dam dodgey $21 oil pressure gauge, should have got a sparco one and i'd be back to being happy by now. and for those wondering my reason for this, my stock oil pressure gauge hovers around 2 all the time rpm regardless, sometimes goes up to 4 at startup when the engine is cold then back down to 2. engine runs mint so i presume it's just a faulty gauge or sender, it's just one of those things that eats away at you so i decided to get another gauge and actually check it just to make sure

I'll be there, will have to take the day off work. Can I run my commodore? I wanna see what power it makes before I put the new engine in (which probally won't happen for a year or so but anyway) it'll be a competition between me and pauls bike for the lowest power figures The gtr will be there too if she's ready

lol it's the first time I found the magical 100% I was told there's only 2 or 3 places in the mapping where it reaches it. normally it don't go above 90% but i do drive it fairly suttly at the moment, but these things happen when your showing of to someone Anyway to clear it all up a little better, a better way of working out how much power your injectors will support isn't to look at the duty cycle so much but to look at the actual ability of the injectors to supply fuel. Generally it is more widley accepted with a 2.5-3L ish 6 that for ever 1cc of injectorage you'll get 1hp at the crank, so if your running 600cc injectors they'll safely support 600hp at the engine. If you relate this to my pic above for example, 440cc GTR injectors are supporting 415HP at the wheels but on very high injector duty which is bad. As I always say if you want more power, dun be a tightass just get bigger injectors they ain't expensive....

So really what everyone is saying is you dun want to see this....oh 11psi and yes it's tuned p.s. new fuel system is on it way

The Ultimate Gtr Plate
Omurru replied to ricknismo's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
lol i agree with him. -
Shouldn't that be " They could class you as an 'Idiot' " for asking that question....You wanna be a hero and put burnout videos on Youtube feel free do it in the middle of a city intersection just take your number plates off and they will never know it's you but remember to be hanging out the window giving the camera man a big smile and thumbs up so they can see exactly who you are

I'd say you'd be looking at about 1500-2000 to have the engine pulled out and looked at. Though normally they should be able to tell you the exact nature of the problem and have a good idea as to whats causing it without pulling it out. To me "not holding pressure" isn't a valid explination of the problem. Sounds more like you've broken something internally. As to rebuild prices, if the bores are still good and you only do a basic rebuild to get it running i'd be expecting to pay about 4-5grand all up. but while the engines out you may as well do some bits and bobs to it, well worth it in the future. For a good engine rebuild i'd say about 15g's getting someone else to do it....

oh and i'll direct wire both the pumps to the battery too. There's a thread in the DIY section about how to do this....

I agree with Beer Baron although I wouldn't be using a Sard fuel reg, I thought these were only rated to 600Hp. Something like an SX or Aeromotive Reg would be a better option. I am building a fuel system for 600Hp atw. Will be using standard gtr pump as a lift pump to a 1.7L surge tank, then an 044 and an SX Fuel Filter will be -8 lines from the surge tank to the engine bay where it will split to two -6 lines which will feed into each end of a modified stock rail with a -6 or -8 return in the middle (not sure on this yet need to find out if a -6 will be enough) to an aeromotive 1000hp pressure reg. oh and 700cc SARD injectors. Will use solid lines under the car and braided teflon lines in the boot and engine bay. If you use teflon lines you won't get any fumes in the bay or boot but they are a little more expensive Hopefully the tank, pump and filter will sit up behind the rear seats on the battery shelf so it's all out of sight

I lived in china for a few years when i was younger due to dad's work. his company wouldn't allow us to drive there they deemed it to dangerous so we had our own personal driver we'd ring when we wanted to go somewhere
-
why whats the point? as a general rule of thumb hose will hold at least 20% (from memory) more pressure than it's rated to. 100psi fuel hose will be more than adequate, just make sure you use some decent hose clamps and not those stupid wire things most jap cars seem to use.

Item Sold. Sorry about the late reply, it never dawned on me to actually look back on this thread presumed people would just pm me

R33 Brakes On Commodore
Omurru replied to Fabio's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
use the vt-vz twin pot brakes and the matching rears from the same car. I believe places like hoppers stoppers etc. makes kits to fit a vh for good prices. Use the 1" master as thats what these use stock, give much better pedal feel than the smaller one 16/17th or whatever it is. -
dunno i'll find out, i'm going to bris tonight for the weekend so will let you now early next week sometime....
