Hi guys, I recently purchased my R33 Skyline, the gearbox lever kicks out of third gear and I have been advised by a transmission repairer that it due to the synchros. They have quoted me $2,400, to remove freshen up the gearbox with all new bearings, synchros, gearset and etc and refit to car. I am considering the above, but would anyone know where I could purchase a second hand gearbox close to W.A? I have tried jap wreckers near me but none have them in stock. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Wow that is not nearly as much as I was expecting. Going to keep their value for that low production run.

Dealer will lower price to $13,250. Comes with 6 months registration (is on terms of purchase), also has Japanese Export Certificate to support the KMs it has. Has been compression tested to 170psi +/- 5psi over the 6 cylinders. Car is really clean, have had it mechanically inspected by a third party and have said its one of the cleanest 33's they have seen. Cost them $12,059 to import and compile it btw. What sort of price should I expect to be paying for this? Going by Redbook $10,500?

Apart from that minor problem, car is very clean. Can only get insurance through just car at $1834/yr

Hi guys, I hope this is the right topic, if not I apologize. I am looking at purchasing a R33 Skyline and have been looking up some common problems them have, most of them don't bother me but this specific issue did: They have oiling starvation issues at high rpm. Is this above the stock rpm limiter or does it still occur at the stock rpm? Being an oiling issue in the head it would only harm the valvetrain then yeah? How would one tell maybe noisy tappets? I am having a look at a r33 today so want to be fairly up to date with the common problems before I hand over my hard earned. Anything else that commonly plague the r33 gts25t? Thanks!
