After taking my intake pipe off today I checked the shaft for any play. To my disappointment there was a noticeable amount. This is a journal bearing turbo and has been on the car for no longer 5 months. When I first got the turbo there was basically no play what so ever, so is this normal for a journal bearing turbo to loosen up like this? And will it rapidly get worse or will it stay similar to what it is now? It’s not making any different noises or blowing smoke from the exhaust so I’m not sure what to make of this, as most turbo’s on the way out usually show these signs.

Mafia, do you use the standard air box with performance panel or do you use a pod with cai?
-
lol. no one was talking about about a pod. A good panel filter cannot be had for $40, Nengun have stupid pricing, they exclude all their charges, shipping and tax costs after you get it here it will have cost you around the 100 dollar mark. Retail, K&N filter sell for around $130 and with friends in the right places the best you can get them for is $85.

Bee R Rev Limiters, Good Or Bad For Your Motor
BAMR33 replied to drumaddict's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I bought one these for the purpose of flat shifting, I have a micro-switch hooked up to the clutch pedal and everything. When I try to flat shift, the gears won't slot in, I've tried doing it at different rpm's but still the same result. If you can't do this I don't see the purpose of them. Maybe this is just my car, maybe its just the way I have set it up but IMO its not worth money. You'd be better putting your money aside for something useful ie. water injection, lots of toluene. Another thing I've noticed when I normally shift with the micro-switch engaged the knock the level jumps by 8, and this is with a very conservative tune only running on 8psi until I finish the rest of the mods. So if you put this on a motor already on the limit that gets flogged around a drift track I can see the knock value jumping dramatically. And your motor will be more than likely pinging it's tits off ending in certain destruction. -
The revs and the air flow into the motor drop far to fast for the ECU to keep up and causes it to stall, I'm guessing you probably have a vent to atmosphere BOV which doesn't help the situation either. Best idea just put it in fifth gear and brake.

Very nice, good to see a new skyline owner with an appreciation for their car. Just have a look through the rb25det dyno results (there's a sticky at the top of the Forced Induction thread) it will give you a good idea of what you need to make 200kW.

Pulsing Noise In Dash When Starting My R33
BAMR33 replied to JodieR33Chick's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
One of the motors for the air vents perhaps... could be catching on something or broken. Just try'n pin point where exactly the noise is coming from, if it's behind the plastics dash facia thing pull it apart and have a look. There's DIY how to pull dash apart if needed, it's fairly easy to do though. -
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=159728 32's are similar to 33's when calibrating so this thread applies to you.

$250+post you can buy mine very very little shaft play, taken off at 130,000km's

Just leave the intake cam gear standard, you cannot retain the vct unit with an in adj cam gear and in my opinion vct is a good thing for a street driven car. The gains are made with retarding the exhaust cam gear anyway.

How'd the plenum go fitting wise. Good to see your project coming together too.

Please don't kill a perfectly good r33 GT-R with an r34 conversion... Just be happy with an r34GT-T, you've obviously got your priorities wrong if the first thing you want to do to a GT-R is add a body kit. R33 GT-R's are pure sex with right set of jap lightweight wheels.

low 11's stock suspension, grippy street tyres. There's alot of variables that determine 1/4 mile times.

Group buy on Water Injection FTW.

Buy one that has already had the mods put into it, saves you a lot of money. Very good choice of vehicle, most of the 33 GT-R's are still in great condition mainly because they are still a $25k+ car. Look for something that has low km's, good interior and engine presentation as this usually represents how the car has been treated. -
Stock Exhaust Performance - Gains?
BAMR33 replied to bombastic's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, I actually think the stock system sounds really good too. But if power is what you want it has to go, as far as noise goes you don't have that much of choice because aftermarket manufactures obviously design them to be louder for that sportier sound and better flow. What you could do is buy a decent 3" system off greenline.jp and add another resonator to reduce noise. -
haha, just read that. They've obviously never driven an XB. 'last of the V8 interceptors' lmao that's such a bogan quote.
-
You know their opinions are bullshit when they rate a Renault Clio 25 and a GT-R below it. I hate top gear they're so bias for euro cars that are total crap.

Yep pedders is a rip. I took my castor rods off myself and pressed the old bushes out my self. Only problem was my press wasn't gustsy enough to push the new ones in. Anyway before work took the rods and bushes in to pedders and said i need these done by 4:00. Got there he still hadn't done them, he proceeded to do a couple other things and then finally got around to it. Took him about 2 minutes... had a whole day and still couldn't manage a 2minute task and still charged me $20. Go somewhere else don't support these guys, essentially they were charging me $600/hour.

BAMR33 replied to EVILTD's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I don't know any info about it, I only saw the pics of when the car was assembled and then again when it was not so assembled. -
Next time just act like they know everything and be really nice, start a conversation if possible, it attracts attention away from the car. If the piggy still gives you that little piece of yellow paper, I say get your money's worth go into an industrial state cut some mad skids, do something you think is worthy of that yellow canary. That's my own personal judicial system anyway.

This isn't really relevant, but does anyone know what happened a fair while ago to a bayside blue r34 with blue work rims? I saw in an old issue of HPI and then a couple months latter I see it in autosalon ripped in half around a pole. Looks horrifying, I'll upload a pic if no one knows the one I'm talking about.
