  1. depends if you want it tomorrow or in a few months? this has been answered many times.. there are advantages to both in that yes imports are generally cheaper... but a car that has allready been imported can be test driven by your self in the long run there are advantages and dissadvantages to both.. and things can go wrong equally in both types of purchases, allthough more people regard importing as more fo a gamble, however if no one did it, there would be none for people to buy locally lol its something you should sit on and yes i think its a good idea to seek other peoples opinions and personal stories to get a good all round perspective on what to do personally i bought locally because it was convienient for me but not nessasarily cheaper, howver i would definatly consider importing in the future and have heard good things about j-spec there are some members on the forum who work for j-spec i belive too just remember ... dont allways do something because its cheaper.. i have a favorite quote of mine that goes like this "cheap and reliable wont be fast, fast and cheap wont be reliable, and reliable and fast wont be cheap" -Ruffels
  2. lol dont worry ive blown my fair share of electronics up in the past and learnt good lessons from them too lol, just not $1000 electronics i probably shouldnt be saying this incase i fail, how ever my lisence is booked for friday the 4th of November... lol so 11 days away i think it is.. lol i was going to wait til after exams were over .. but i thought screw it.. i allready cop a maths methods exam on my birthday, may aswell cop a driving exam too unfortunatly i dont think i'll be at the dyno day but i will be at which ever event is next after that... with me driving weeeeeeeeee HAHA once again congrats on the lucky escape .... if ever i need some luck im gonna touch you paul... lol hold on that sounded bad :s ok well i think this novel should end.. right... about .... now -Mark
  3. well you'll find theres an accessories wire that goes to the back of your head unit.. i cant rememebr the colour of it off the top of my head. but with a multimetre it should register ~12v when the key is set to accesories or on .. wth my boost guage i wired it up to my illumination wire, as i didnt need to see the light on my guag unless it was dark and i had my head lights on too but yeah.. unless someone can correct me i would just say get a terminal block and tap into the illumination or accesories wire on your headunit... however this may require the fuse to be changed with added load -Ruffels
  4. jesus tity f**king christ Paul... from what i though was gonna turn into a multi $thouand repair and nightmare turned into a quick cheap fix.. you must be pretty luck.. that will learn you not to screw around with things though -Mark
  5. oh dear this forum is turning into boostcruising *slaps head*
  6. so when you crank the key over... do you get any noise at all? \eg feul pump turning on, or engine trying to crank or starter motor trying? you sure you checked all fuses near the battery, under the steering collumn and in the engine bay in full day light?
  7. yeah i'd run new speaker wires... stock wires arent very good.. i'd be using a new earth point too for installing the head unit.. probably only using power antena wire, power wire, and illumination from the old head unit harness -Ruffels

  14. ^^^ yeah but like any alarm system theres a way around itthe keypad is just a very hi tech switch... the keypad is in series with the igntion wires and unless the correct pin is entered the ignition wires done get connected, resulting in the car not being able to start.. theres not alot stopping a thief getting in beind and re wiring it to suit them quite quickly... no alarm is 100%... the key to a good alarm is deterence allthough with a million and one different lock out mechanisms.. you'll find 99% of the time your only making life harder for yourself when you loose/lock your keys in the car -ruffels
