Definitely a difference. When you push a bit harder the VCD can really throw you as can activate when you don't expect it or want it. For example, on the track a bit of over steer can help you correct the car through a corner. The VCD when on thinks your losing control so it does it's own thing. I haven't seen it, but have heard of instances in other cars where the VCD can throw you off the track. I've only kept the VCD on once on the track, and that was cause it was the first session on a wet track. At the same time, I don't push that hard so I'm comfortable driving without it. I don't go out to kill the car, just to have a bit of fun. As for ethanol, i did a search and it said all 2004 and onwards Nissan's are ok. This would include the 350z which has the same engine as our V35's so can't see a problem. The car runs much better on the limit with it in my opinion, and have seen absolutely no side effects since.

Max, I've taken this V35 twice, and took my auto once. You don't really have to change the fluid if it's quite new, but definitely bleed your brakes to get rid of air bubbles. (I use RBF as well with no probs) From a better safe than sorry perspective, I change both brake fluid and engine oil before and after a track day. Yes it's expensive, but it also puts my mind at ease. Before my first track day in the current car, I also replaced my gearbox fluid and diff fluid. Not because there was anything wrong but because I didn't know what was in there. How experienced on the track are you? I've done a few track days in other cars, and can confidently say that even in stock form the V35 is a very capable car for a beginner, and if your a newbie like me, you'll struggle to push it to it's potential. re wheel nuts, the last track day i went to, one flew off a car and smashed through the car following's window, so definitely check them. Back on oil, I always over fill the engine oil a bit as when your going through corners hard the oil will swirl to one side so you don't want to be left short. Put a little extra air in the tyres as well. If you have one, take a tyre gauge and keep an eye on the PSI throughout the day. Your pressure will change as the tyres heat up/cool down. As someone said, no handbrake after you've just come off, you can warp the discs. Check your coolant levels as well. The V35 has a tendency to ping high in the rpm range, so run the highest octane fuel you can find. I've got Shell V-Power Racing around the corner so only use this on the track. 100 Octane goodness :-) Again expensive, but definitely worth it. The most important thing - HAVE FUN!! If there's an experienced driver there, use the free guidance if you can get it. Get them to show you what the car can do, and get them to shit next to you for a few laps. You'll learn more in 5 laps this way than you will in 10 track days as an amateur by yourself.

Waaaaaaazzzzz, Have you been bitten by the performance bug? First supercharging, now sways. What other dirtly little secrets do you have :-))) Sways make a massive difference IMO. Gary are yours adjustable? I ask cause there's ALOT of different opinions in the US on what settings suit the V35. The NISMO set i have are fine for me as the car is 99% street driven, but imagine you would want a bit more flexibility for more track work.

Thinking To Just Sell The Bloody Thing
NISMO replied to rs73's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
What a nightmare!! I don't get it. It's not as if it's the first V35 in Vic! I mentioned J-Spec as they've registered plenty of cars in Vic and will be able to tell you exact;y what's needed. They may even know someone in Vic roads who can help you and give you a complete once off run down, to make sure you're not going back 100 times!! Good luck buddy, I was going nuts when my car was held up for 10 days.. -

V36 On The Docks In Wa Who Has Photos
NISMO replied to a topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
As nice as the V36 is, it absolutely sh!ts me to tears that Nissan is like 3 years behind everyone else when it comes to interiors. Take our V35 for example, and the V36 is not much better. Sorry, it's much better than the V35, but way behind what others are doing in 2008/09. -
That's cool mate. It wasn't your post. Unfortunately these topics have a habit of turning into braging posts for hectic street racers. Just thought i'd try and stop it before it starts. :-)

Guys, Please no further talk of "drag racing" on public roads at traffic lights. Happy for people to share general stories, but if this turns into a - I ran a guy at the lights, thread, it will be closed. Cheers Bobby

If it stays with me, then there's a chance. Looked into a HKS twin kit, which basically has all parts for around $6-$7k. Bolt in on, tune, and an instant safe 300rwkw!!!! From the cars I've seen come out of Rigoli I would call them forced induction experts rather than Skyline experts. A mate supercharged a corolla thorugh them with stunning results, and again my ex neighbours car is beyond comment. This is the Capri. When he was next door, I used to get a hard on hearing this thing start up on a Sunday morning! http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2174/article.html

Thinking To Just Sell The Bloody Thing
NISMO replied to rs73's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Rianto, speak to Craig at J-spec. He should be able to guide you through what else may need to be done to register the car. Especially from a paper work perspective. As for actually doing it, as far as i know it has to be you. As it's going in your name. My battery went dead, but only after leaving the lights and radio on overnight. Still the next morning i topped it up with battery water ( it was empty) and have not had a problem since. This was well over a month ago. -
Gary, Alan What's your view on a custom turbo kit built here in Aus? I imagine that everything is mostly easily doable, except the turbo manifold(s). Any view on this? I know the HKS kit your referring to, and it looks great, but again your paying for HKS parts. Do you see any major problems for a knowledgeable workshop to develop a custom kit? My view is that there is easily enough experience in workshops here to develop parts such as intercooler piping, exhausts etc. Things like ECU's Turbo's, injectors, fuel supply can all be done here without much concern. Again its the manifold that I'm worried about. Does anyone have any experience with a custom manifold and pricing involved?

There's a topic here which has a poll on colours and has the codes.

V35 Timming Belts Same As 350z ?
NISMO replied to MFC05's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Yep it's not simple but no where near as complex as the maxima :-) -
V35 Timming Belts Same As 350z ?
NISMO replied to MFC05's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
The plugs on a Maxima are a MASSIVE job. I bought a set not to long ago, but once i started, decided to stop about 5 mins into it. Basically the whole top half of the motor virtually has to come apart. It defiantely though is different on the V35, as being FWD the Maxima's engine is in a east/west config, where as the V35 is north/south, and thus much easier. The prob with the Max is that the induction system run over the top of the motor. it seems the front 3 plugs should be able to be changed without too much fuss, but the rear 3 are a nightmare. -
The HKS kit is fantastic from what I've read, but I also believe it is well over $10k Aus installed. I think from memory it was around $8k or so US for the kit. There's a decent debate about it on G35Driver, as a few people were saying pricing is the same as a twin turbo kit, which offers everything the HKS Supercharger does, with a lot more power.

V35 Timming Belts Same As 350z ?
NISMO replied to MFC05's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Forgot to add, if you see the complexity in removing and refitting a timing chain, you'll see why they've made them last 200000miles. The process includes Drain Coolant Drain oil Separate Engine harness Remove Intake manifold collectors Remove Cooling fan assembly Remove A/C compressor Remove Power steering pump Remove Alternator And that's just a few. Putting it back together seem twice as complex :-) -
V35 Timming Belts Same As 350z ?
NISMO replied to MFC05's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
If I'm wrong we can both rock up to my mechanics together!! Nah, pretty sure it should be sweet, as have read exactly the same on G35Driver. I actually spun out at first cause they were saying change at 200000. Then i remembered they use miles. I'm pretty sure I'll check again when i get to 100000km's cause I'm kind of anal about things like that :-) -
V35 Timming Belts Same As 350z ?
NISMO replied to MFC05's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Yep, correct. The VQ35 has a timing chain and not a timing belt. I have a Maxima with the VQ35 and confirmed this. Basically i have heard the chain may need to be re-tensioned (if thats a word) but as a guide, the recommended replacement time for the chain is 200000miles!!! I was getting ready to fork out for a new belt on the Maxima until my mechanic told me he confirmed it's a chain. Looked into it a fair bit and found it was correct. Checked the workshop manual for the V35 and yep, it's a chain. -
Rigoli custom built my neighbours car which is a 69 Capri with a Cosworth turbo race motor, and has always been beyond happy with Vince's work. My neighbour calibrates hospital equipment for a living, has an unbelievable attention to detail, and is extremely picky, but has never had a bad word to say about Vince. I used them a couple of times when i had the 33, and again not a single bad word about them. Not the cheapest around, but neither are alot of the others mentioned and as said you get what you pay for. I'm actually considering going to Vince to turbo my V35, as i know he has turbo'd many NA cars before with great results.

Yep, I'm in. As long as the V35 doesn't sell by then.

The newly re-released HKS Supercharger seems to be a much better option than some of the existing ones. It delivers power apparently close to what a basic turbo set up could, which a lot of the other superchargers don't do. My biggest gripe with any of the kits, is the price you pay. Although i haven't priced it up, I honestly believe you could greatly reduce your cost by doing it separately. e.g - Buy supercharger, go to an exhaust shop to fabricate piping, and get a UTEC or something similar for fuel etc etc. Also I'm pretty sure the stillen ECU will be tuned to US conditions including fuel, and not to sure how flexible it would be for re tuning. I've also been looking at FI if i keep the car, but am thinking of a used turbo set up from the US. There are twin turbo kits including new turbo's for around $4000. The other option I'm thinking of is trying to locate just the manifolds to house the turbo's and get the rest here. As i said a lot of the parts are easily done here in Aus. Turbo's are plentiful, intercoolers even more so, ECU's no problem, piping no worries, your local exhaust shop should be able to do it. Fuel pumps/injectors, again no worries. Have you had it all priced up yet Waz? Remember there is also CAPA Superchargers here in Aus, who I'm pretty sure do a 350z kit. Maybe give them a try.

Nah, I'm thinking Nismo front. It's the same as stock, just a bit lower with larger ducts

Appologies for the long delay all. Have been advised that the standard Muteki nuts will be $55 delivered to me. If you're in Sydney, happy to try and organise pick up, otherwise shipping will be at your expense. Once i have some delivered I'll get shipping quotes to all captial cities, however I can't see them being too much. The prices for the other styles should be available shortly. Cheers Bobby

Thinking Of Importing V35 Coupe
NISMO replied to NissanFan's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I think you also need to add, that the main buyers are Skyline lovers who tend to be younger in age. From what I've seen, it also means that they can only really look at the cheaper cars (not always, but most of the time). In all the cars i've bought, my theory is that if you can only afford the cheapest of a certain model, then that car is out of your range. Even if I was buying a corolla, i would set my price limit to get me a middle range car at least.
