  1. Hi again, I've kinda high jacked this thread, but have had this car inspected and it's come back as an extremely clean GTR. My only concern is around the engine. The VIN has been checked again and is definately an N1 chassis. I've had the engine casting checked though and it's 05U NOT 24U, and have spoken to several people who are adamant that ALL N1's are stamped 24U. BUT, I've also checked the engine number on the block, and this matches the number on the build plate, suggesting that it's the original engine the car left the factory with. Again this would make you believe it's an N1 stamped with 05U. The inspector also said that there is no way the engine has been swapped as all the mounts show no sign what so ever of a swap. Everything on the car is immaculate with the only issue found being a bit of shudder under brakes. Logically my mind says that all of the above points to the car having an N1 engine. Would people agree? For any other variant i wouldn't be concerned, but the main reason in my mind, paying a bit more for an N1 is for the engine. can the engine number itself be used to check what engine it is? I've been told fast can't do this? If anyone can help the number is RB26 029655A Thanks Bobby
  2. Eug, did you go through a dealer? I'm just about to get my 32 through a dealer and same thing, thank God i don't have to go through all that again. Twice in the last 12 months has been enough. Bobby
  3. Yep, my point was that regardless of what the cars are worth in Japan, it's the market here that would dictate prices. And having the Aus market flooded with not so good cheap examples means prices will overall drop. Also how much a single car sells for, in my mind does not determine what the car is actually worth, but more so how quick the owner needs to sell. For all we know Rich may have just received his monthly child support bill for his 23 children and is a bit short this month
  4. As some have said, the cheap crappy cars make it all a bit deceptive. A good example is the current state of V35's. You can bring in a V35 Coupe for as low as $20k, however on the exact same site, you will find the same car, with similar specs for $10k more. Why, becuase 1 is a genuine good car while the other for some reason or another is crap. The problem is that at the end of the day, cheap crappy cars, drive the Aus prices down. Regardless of what is happening in Japan. As much as heaps of people import cars, the vast majority of cars are still bought locally, so local markets dictate pricing. I think Baron's R34 is a perfect example. An immaculate clean GTR which is probably worth a fair bit more than what he's asking, however with carsales.com.au being flooded with $45k R34 GTR's how can he compete?? Somone who can barley scrape into affording a $45k R34 GTR has no thought for quality and cannot entertain the idea of buying an immaculate R34 GTR for $60k.
  5. Oh yeah, count on it. Just hope they have a free spot in the inspection schedule which is not 3 weeks away. My second time around i actually tried to book it in advance, and was told "we don't know if your car will be randomly chosen". I asked the girlf if she wanted to bet a lazy $100 on it and she just smiled.
  6. I can remember reading somewhere that in most cars, airbags need to be checked as part of servicing, and as said once checked the light can be reset. Is this correct Chris? I think it's like in some cars when it's time for a service the k's blink when you start up, and will keep doing so until you reset it.
  7. Good stuff, Keep your paperwork with you in the car incase you get pulled over. Just a bit of back up incase they think your just some punk driving an unregistered car :-) Funnily, when i was doing this with my V35, I was in peak hour traffic and passed about 5 cops, and had no plates, and other than check out the car and smile, not one questioned why the car was being driven with no plates.
  8. Check with a different branch. Sounds silly but have done it a couple of times now and i get different responses at different branches. My understanding is that a temp rego is available for all cars, imports or not. See the link, no mention of imports being excluded. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/oth...uvp.html?rlid=4
  9. Hi Penny, No I don't sell HID kits but a mate is a bit of a HID guru and does alot of conversions in the motorbike world. He can get any part of the stock HID kit you need, from Ballasts (which should hopefully still be there as Chris said) to ignitors which are usually cut during compliance. As an example in my case the Ballast was still there as it forms the cover for the high beam (at the back of the headlight) and I just needed new ignitors. He got these for me for around $100, joined two wires added globes and i was back to Xenon. 30mins work. If you know what you need let me know and I'll see if he has them. He loves the stock units on the V35's and uses them in a lot of conversions as apparantly they are a nice reliable unit. Cheers Bobby
  10. Yep exactly. As Chris said the US versions are designed for the US roads who drive on the opposite side to us here in Aus, and Japan. So the lean will be on your right side headlight, going into oncoming traffic. How bad is it? not sure, i know there is one member here who has done the conversion. I may be able to get my hands on the ballast and ignitors if you want the current headlights to be xenon, but it won't give you projectors. Cheers Bobby
  11. Congrats mate, very nice. Just a note of caution, don't pin your hopes on those time frames. I got really exited last time i imported cause was told similar, but transport went from 4 weeks to 8, and compliance from 2 weeks to 4. But, on the positive side - hanging for it to get here makes it more enjoyable when you finally driver her away :-)
  12. Guys, Does anyone know if this statement is true? "The N1 engine is identified by its 24U number stamped on the block, as opposed to the 05U stamp on standard RB26DETT engines". If so, where is this number found? Cheers
  13. 6U9000BNR32220816 Can some please fast this? Also I have the engine number, 029655A can this be checked through fast to see if it was the engine the car left teh factory with? Cheers Bobby
  14. Not 100% if they'll clear the brakes, but the offset seems similar. I know there are people that use V35 wheels on R34's with no probs. Best bet is to track down down the offset of the V36 sedan.
  15. There are plenty of seriously quick street/track cars which still have OEM Brembo's and do fine for the "occasional track day". It really sounds like your going for way overkill. If you're only interested in the occasional track day, a $10k brake kit would not be at the top of my list. Unless of course that money tree i planted 10 years ago, finally gets its sh!t together and starts growing! :-) 300 clicks, what track would this be at?
  16. Thanks Alan, That was the set I was referring to. :-) Forgot that he was also selling his HKS set. Mxfly is a great guy to deal with folks, he got my wheels for me, and when they arrived without tyres from Japan he gave me a set of his. (Yep the Michelin pilot PS2's I'm always bragging about)
  17. Also try Dart Automotive. They have a HEAP of VQ35 experience so will no doubt be able to source an engine.
  18. Happy Birthday Adam! All the best buddy
  19. Add one more for the sways. The difference is unbelievable. If anyone wants a set I think i can get a hold of some second hand NISMO sways for a decent price.
  20. Sounds great! Good to see you enjoyed it. Gotta agree with your comments on the Brembo's and also aboout it being "not that quick" Aftermarket suspension does wonders for the cars handling. It's a massive difference. I found on the track, through the corners my car was punching well above it's weight, however down the straight you would loose any time you made up. The problem for me was there was no easy fix to this. It would involve pretty big dollars whether you go forced or try and get more from an NA setup. But as said, the main part is you had fun. No idea about the noise though, I've 2 diff V35's on tracks and no probe with either. Cheers Bobby
  21. Thanks Guys, Being such a nice car it was definitely sad. The new owner was really wrapped so that was good. I've never seen someone smile so much when handing over large sums of cash :-) I'll definitely be around, no plans on going anywhere. Have started the search for a weekend only GTR so won't be out of a Skyline for long. Rianto, it sold sought of quick. It was just a matter of waiting for the right buyer.
  22. SOLD! Well, as of today I am officially V35-less. Thought i would handle it ok, but pretty sad watching it head down the street for the last time. Tomorrow I'm going to get my nuts removed, and will then buy a Mirage or something to go to and from work.
  23. Awesome news. And congrats! Will the new owner take it out for a porka dinner next targa
  24. :-) I've contacted a dealer in QLD re a 94 V-spec II with a whole list of questions and pretty much got the same. Problem though is that the fact that they're not willing to answer certain questions, immediately rings alarm bells for me. Basically i got no response to questions such as, is there any rust on the car, and are there any marks on the interior!
