Thanks Alan, Another vote for chatter is putting my mind at ease :-) Mine is pretty much the same as you've described. When it heats up it get's a little noiser. Still definately not unbearable and definately worth the better feel the car has

Yeah can't wait to be honest. I've done a couple of days with other groups and by far enjoy the SAU days the most.

Hey Guys, Anyone interested in coming out to the SAU NSW track day? I've been to a couple of these with previous cars and can tell you that there a great day out. It's run in a very very relaxed manner with the main emphasis being on fun and learning. The club runs it in a very professional manner and does not tolerate hero's or the like. I went last year in my auto and you learn heaps about your car. There is no pressure to put in super fast laps or set land speed records. The best part is that there are some very experienced drivers who lend out their time for free, and can give you great tips on driving around a track. Come down and check it out, it would be great to have more than just one V35 out there. We can even make it a NSW V35 mini meet. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Sa...-D-t219432.html

Here's a description I've found where the pulses of the ignition cycle are no longer absorbed by a heavy flywheel and can be heard in the transmission at idle And another from a G35 website It's normal for cars such as ours that have a stock dual mass flywheel that is replaced with a light weight single mass flywheel. The dual mass flywheel has noise dampening properties by its design. To be honest your probably the first person who has straight out said that there must be something wrong if you hear flywheel chatter. That doesn't mean I'm doubting you, but you've got me concerned, and it's hard to ignore thousands and pay for the box to be ripped out and all checked. The gearbox place is adamant it's normal, so any checking would be at my expense. If you know someone who is willing to pull it out and take a look for free, let me know, I have no issue with it being checked.

Gary, I call it a rattle but it is also referred to as chatter. Should I still be concerned? Nearly everyone, every post i have read re lightened flywheel, always has an element of "chatter/rattle". It's even there on the stock clutch to some degree.
-
I'm no clutch expert, and as much as the JWT is an upgrade on stock, i don't think it's anywhere in the league of the other two. In my case, i went with a clutch for a daily driver and maybe 2 or so track days a year. I'm also still very much a track noob so i doubt i'll be pushing the car anywhere near as much as what you do, and no semis at this stage for me. What about a decent single from Exedy? "Turbo Spares" in cabramatta has unbelievable prices on exedy clutch's, and can most of them in your hands in 24hrs. I work in Macquarie park and go home towards liverpool, so if that crosses your path at all, let me know and you can check out the JWT.

Hey mate, The guy who installed it is a mate who has is own gearbox shop in Ingleburn. That price was of course mates rates so not sure what his price to the public would be. Let me know if you still want some details but pretty sure it wont be $300. cheers Bobby

Hey Alan, The pedal feels softer than stock, but the take up is much lower. On the stock V35 clutch you would letting the pedal out for 1/2 hour before it engaged, where as with JWT it's pretty much immediately. At the same time I haven't given it a decent workout as yet, as wanted to put a few more k's on it. Where abouts in Syd are you? If we can organise a time, happy for you to check it out.

He was online yesterday. Posted in the double din thread.

definately straight foward install. The kit fits V35's and 350z's with no problems. (I bought it from a 350z site) The pedal is softerish when you just press it but while driving and changing gears it feels more sturdy. The take up is much much lower as well. Manual guys will know the V35 stock clutch engages quite high.

Mate, find a buyer for my V35, and for mid to high 20's, just show me where to sign :-)

To me definately was Micah. The rattle takes away a bit of the "luxury" car feel, but to me the car was never a "luxury" car in the first place. Feels more "brutal" now All up installed it cost me $1200. Which is pretty good. Any local options would have cost around that much before install. The exedy I was looking at was over $1200 for just the clutch and flywheel and would have come to over $1500 with the rest and install.

Jas - sort of, haven't really had any decent hills as such, but it feels like that across the board. In every gear, a stab at the throttle and it jsut moves! GEXer - definately smoother. Especially first to second. Not sure why this is, could be cause the old clutch was as i said getting on, but with the new one, all gears move in and out smoother. The rattle is there when idling and when in the low rpm range. For example if I'm lazy and go around a corner slowly in 3rd in stead of changing down to 2nd, you definately hear the rattle until you get back up to around 2200rpm. Nothing while cruising though.

thanks dude - greatest movie ever made

Hey Guys, Just thought I'd share a bit About a week ago I ordered a new clutch kit from the US, and finally got around to installing it yesterday. The verdict - WOW I can't believe how much more pull the car now has. My stock clutch was doing fine and not slipping at all, but it was getting on. I was considering a few different brands, and in the end went with the JWT kit. Consisted of JWT Clucth JWT Lightened Flywheel Stainless Steel braided clutch line Chromoly clutch pivot ball Nismo roller bearing The end result is a much much better feel when driving. The lightened flywheel is a tiny bit noiser than stock, but it definately gets the car reving faster. It just feels like it has so much more oomph than it did before. Still haven't given it a hard workout as I want to put a few more k's on it first. As a bonus, the apprentice at my mates workshop drained my tranny fluid by mistake so this was replaced as well with Redline MTL :-)
-
On the track, the car gets to 180 quite easily and I would guess it's got a lot more in it. From memory it was around the 4500-5000rpm range in 5th gear. I've done a cruising lap where it was in 6th sitting at just over 3000rpm doing 160-170km/h

What happened? I think you mentioned in another thread that you gave it a shot. any pics? I was looking foward to it. Out of curiosity, are you sanding back the existing coat and how far? Bare metal? Cheers Bobby

I had a Lakeshore which i sold :-) Stunning colour in the right light. As for white and black - simply their the more expensive/rarer colours in Japan hence fewer make it here. When i bought my Lakeshore I was looking for a Black coupe and the end price was on average an extra $2000-$3000 Personally, I'm just a sucker for Black cars, especially when it comes to coupey/sporty cars. The only other colour i would take over Black for the V35 Coupe (If given a choice of any) would be white. mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Personally, not a fan of the wheels, but going off what you described in the other thread about the paint, i think it would work and will look quite good What offsets you going with? reason i ask is I know a lot of the Ozzy wheels don't have offsets ideal for these cars. Curious how much as well, cause as an example i got my Volk SF Challenge for around $3k from Japan, 19" with rubber worth $900 per corner, and over 80% tread. Oh and not a mark on the wheels. Took a fair bit of time to find them, but definitely worth it. Oh and the most import thing - Pics when it's done :-)

My Results From My Upgrade On My Awesome R33!
NISMO replied to evil_weevil's topic in New South Wales
Very nice mate, Congrats. shall we say 1.10's or bust :-) -
Just do it, It's only paint :-) If your mates doing then just spray it back if you're not happy. Seriously, it sounds quite subtle and there are some crazy painted G35's in the US that look great. Personally i don't think the car is that luxurious looking. Yes it has all the features, but the leather/alcantara for example to me is more sporty than luxury. The Anniv edition with the full leather is a different story and that definately looks Merc/BMW league. Any pics of what you had in mind?

R34 Gt-t Or V35 350gt - Coupe Or Sedan
NISMO replied to 4doorGTT's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah good choice with the GT-T. As far as sedans go i prefer them to a V35 sedan. Even though i own a V35 coupe :-) As for the WRX, nah stick with Skylines - but most here would say that. WRX's are a great car, however I really don't like the AWD system in them as it's full time and can take away from fun driving at times. If you go for a R34 sedan, look into a NISMO bodykit. It's very subtle but gives it a nice look. Best thing to do is go and drive them all, then decide. -
Hey mate, Sounds like the ECU is picking up a fault somewhere and there for flashing up the lights. Does the car do anything like loose power, not go aboev certain rpm? If yes then it's definately going into "Limp Mode" which basically just means the car is recognising something is not right and so it's looking after itself. Best thing to do would be to find someone who run a check and see if any fault codes pop up. Where are you located? Oh, and welcome to SAU :-)
