Servicing/mechanics Recommendations Sydney
NISMO replied to Warrio's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Personally I wouldn't trust a Nissan mechanic as far as I could throw him. Firstly their primary role is servicing pulsars. Secondly the amount of attitude and crap you get from them cause you have a "grey import" is beyond ridiculous. You would think that some clown at Nissan would get their sh!t together and wake up to the amount of $$'s they could make servicing the "evil" imports. Nissan Australia has done absolutely nothing to earn my business and for the Skyline in general. -

cool fair enough, I've only been there once and Indy was there. Personally i was pretty impressed with how much time he spends with his customers. We even had a 30min chat about Rays wheels (his custom ce28's for his R34) and about a 40min chat on track driving :-) -

Hey mate, Been to IS myself and I find them fine. When I was there I found that both Darren and Indy where more than happy to go through everything they are doing and spend time discussing options. I pretty much had them change all my fluids (because I requested it) and they went through everything and gave me options of fluid for each. After doing the brake fluid they even asked if I didn't mind them not cleaning the brake callipers (dirty from me, not them) as i told them I was going on the track. Other than offering to change fluids that you didn't want to, was there anything bad about the work they did? I'm thinking of going there again for some other work that's a bit more involved than fluid changes. Oh, and the best part of going there was they worked on the car at the agreed time, and did not leave it half way to muck around with other cars. Something I find rare in a lot of workshops. Cheers Bobby -
Thanks mate, That's the part. Wanted to make sure that the US part numbers are the same and they seem to be. Now to give Nissan a call :-) Cheers Bobby

Skizo, I need to order some parts form Nissan to fix my rear axle clicking noise and have the following parts from a US site. Any idea if these are the same numbers I can go to Nissan Aus with? 43210-AL505 Bearing Assy rear 39211-73L00 Axle Outer Joint Assy 39241-73L28 Repair kit, Duct boot outer Cheers Bobby

Hey mate, Yep it is slightly larger than standard, but I did a bit of reasearch and the sizes I have (front and rear) work fine together and don't effect teh VCD in any way. I didn't specifically look for these but when my rims came in from Japan, the tyres were removed. And the guy who brought them in only had these in his workshop and offered them to me at no extra cost. The tyre's are Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 which are around $900 each so i would have been crazy to not take them. :-)

Sorry Waz, I don't get it. The spacesaver is also lighter than a full sized wheel/tyre and so will be part of the make up of the cars balance. In essence you're adding weight for the odd occasion you might need to use it or if someone happens to look at it in your boot. Yeah i know it's a bit, but this will also play a part when it comes to fuel consumption. If you're doing a lot of highway driving, yep I can understand as it would suck to be doing 80km/h on a freeway, but other than that I really don't get why you would want one.

Don't have any pics of the one's coming in, but here are the one's I just bought. Condition when I got them was exactly as pictured. Cheers Bobby

Hey guys, A mate of mine who does HID conversion mainly for beemers has told me he has a few sets of ignitors coming in for the V35's. For those that don't know these are the silver wrapped wires that bulb plugs into one end and the other end goes to the ballast. The workshops usually cut the ignitors. Mine arrived a week or so ago. All that's left know is re-wire and plug in new globes and I'm back to Xenon :-) (As long as you still have the ballast. Let me know if you interested and I'll get you in contact with him. Cheers Bobby

Hey mate, Tyres are F 245/40/19 R 275/35/19 The drop I have is very subtle, probably about the same as what you would get from 350z springs. I lowered my last one on 350z tein H-techs and was very happy with the drop, a bit more than the pic I have but it did scrape on the odd driveway. However the NISMO package is a massive step forward compared to stock. I've driven a stock coupe around a track, and my current one which as NISMO springs/shocks and sways and it's like night and day.

Realistic Sale Price For My Car?
NISMO replied to CHO50N's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
At the end of the day, it all depends on how much someone likes your particular car. I sold my 05 auto with 30k for $39000 a few months back. The car was stock as non premium, and the person who bought it wanted an auto, and non premium cause he didn't want leather!! I even asked for extra money for the lowered springs and intake as this was not advertised and the buyer was happy to pay for them. I had it advertised for a few months but was adamant i didn't want to drop the price and told everyone who rang that it was non negotiable. You will find the right buyer at the right price if you're not desperate to get rid of it. On a side note, why the change of heart? Is the car not as flexible as you wanted it to be, or not what you expected? -
haha, could make for an intersting tex. First SAUer to chunder during an event!! Round and Round and Round and Round On a serious note, I can't understand how women want to go to weddings of people they haven't seen in 5 years!!!

What time does the day kick off on Sunday? I have a wedding on Sat night but will drive down Sunday. Bobby

The most common offsets for those sizes are +22 front and rear. However if you are lowered and how far will also play a part in how agressive you can go with the offset. I've also seen front offsets go into the high teens, but by far +22 is the most common. I'm currently running +24 F and +28 rear on the sizes you mentioned and to they look fine, and i have no rubbing issues at all. The car i slightly lowered with Nismo springs and shocks. Good time for a pic

yeah I thought bullsh!t as well, but odd how several different radio stations were reporting the same thing. Apparantly it's something to do with too many plates not being able to be read by camera's. F**K know's how rego on roof would fix this. I think I'll stick with April fools joke until i hear anything else
-
.... oops
-
Not sure if it's an April fools joke, but heard all over the news on several radio stations that as of July this year, all NSW cars will need to have their rego displayed on the roof of the car. Can't find any details anywhere else, but did hear that you will need to buy the stickers I'm assuming and they come in a range of colours. I wonder how many resprays their going to pay for if these things f**k up the paint.

Drive the car and see how you go. I went with even cheaper crap and the road noise from the front wheels was unbearable. You car should have come with tyres from Japan which obviously you can't use fro compliance. However, these tyres still belong to you, not the compliance shop. Ask them to hand them over and if there road worthy simply swap them back. They'll more than likely be the OEM Bridgstones which aren't a bad tyre. If you leave them with the compliance shop they'll sell them to someone else :-) Some places say that everything coming of the car needs to be destroyed and if they insist on doing so, tell them you will sign a waiver that you are taking the parts as they belong to you.

Newbie Confused About V35 Models And Resale
NISMO replied to Jaytee77's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Pretty much agree with the above, The only thing in the V35's favour is that I doubt it will be as popular as the turbo Skyline's are, making them somewhat rarer on the roads. This may mean that they hold their value a little better than other imports. Time will tell i guess. I would say though that thus far, manual's seem to be holding their value better than the auto's. But again this may be because of the same reason as I've stated. Their still a little rarer than the auto's. On a positive note, no car holds value these days unless it's quite rare/unique so I guess you can take the question out of your decision process. :-) -
Any Thoughts On The 350gt Build Quality?
NISMO replied to jarthel's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
There are a few differences between the G35 and the V35. Namely luxury specs. The G35 came standard with full leather and full auto seat adjustments and a few other bits and pieces. I still stand by the fact that it's a sporty Jap coupe with a nice luxurious interior. I wouldn't say it's at M3 level, but it's not far behind. I'm a fan of the car because of the way it drives/handling/looks and comfort. -
Any Thoughts On The 350gt Build Quality?
NISMO replied to jarthel's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hey Mate Both fair comments. Personally i think you may be reading a little too much into it. The common failures thread is a concentration of people's problems. It highlights negatives. Every car I have ever known has had "common problems" A mate has recently forked out over $60k for a Calais which has been back for common problem fixes 3 times and he hasn't even hit 3000k's. Personally I've had 2 V35's and they haven't missed a beat. I've had both on a track and both have held up remarkably well. My current one has the rear axle "clicking" issue. But it's something that is not terminal and I know how to fix. So it's not a concern. More an annoyance. On a positive note, most of the common issues are not major mechanical problems. As for plastics looking cheap, what Jap car doesn't have this problem :-) The 2005 and up series II has a much nicer interior. The difference is subtle but it looks much nicer. Personally I think the interior is fine for the money you are paying for the car. After all it's a Nissan Skyline, not a luxury Euro tourer. I know it get's compared alot to the Euro's and as a package i would take it any day over most similar spec Euro's. But don't expect the interior of a S series Merc in a $35k Nissan. For my money I'm happy with the interior I have. (Prem Leather/Alcantara) I think it gives the car a sporty feel, and I would prefer this over a full luxury feel, as i think the car is a sports car. Just my thoughts -
At least the crumple zones work!

Congrats mate, welcome to the club! You won't be dissapointed :-)

How Many Kms Are Everyone Getting Out Of Their V35
NISMO replied to MFC05's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Was that on purpose? I've heard doing that can suck up the sludge in the bottom of your tank! Unless of course you run it dry before every fill. -
Yep, a simple out. "We factor $5k for complaince, but hey, what do you know the actual price is $35k" Oh and add another one to the list if they can gurantee I can have a 35 for that money. Baron, on a side note I'm really worried that someone will get caught out just like the whole Stagea issue previously mentioned. Where is all this at? Is it a 100% given that complaince will be given?
