Heat Wrapping Your Intercooler Pipes
paulr33 replied to O.I.C Napster's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah it will be hot to touch for sure, blow air over it at few hundred km/h and it won't heat up at all. when its mashed through your IC core the contact surface is much much much larger so it has a chance to extract the heat from the intake charge, but when its in the pipe work its just wooshing past and wont heat up much. id be suprised if someone could measure in and out temps before and after wrapping the pipes and showing a difference -
it would be ace if you had a rotary engine, but you don't much like a truck turbo would be ace, if you had a truck engine there would be better suited turbos, the rotary housings are usually large as the flow tons more gas than a humble piston engine

Heat Wrapping Your Intercooler Pipes

the air moves to quick through the piping to heat up -
Yes Show N Shine entry is only valid for SAU VIC Members. Everyone is welcome to come along for the day and check out the club
-
Yes that is correct. Our officials will give you a quick model and member name sheet to fill out which will have your real name, member name on the forums, and car category. This will then be placed on your windscreen in the corner so everyone who wants to vote for your car knows who's car it is and what name to vote for.

SAU VIC - Show N Shine & Christmas Party When: Sunday, November 26th 2006 Time: Entry opens 10:00am Where: Birrarung Mar, Melbourne (behind Federation Square) Lunch: Members will be given a FREE BBQ Lunch (proof of membership required) Map Location: Melawys 2F J6 (alternate 1B S12, alternate 43 K9) Map Image: http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/sauvi...rrarung-mar.jpg Duration: Until late afternoon Event Info: This day is our official Show N Shine event for the year and will serve as our official Christmas Party for the end of the year. Last year we ran this event much like a Show N Shine, which is similar to an outdoors Autosalon style day. Members are free to pur their cars on display and are encouraged to enter them for the Show N Shine. Only SAU VIC Members will be able to participate in having their car entered into the Show N Shine display. This event will be advertised to non VIC members to encourage them to come along for a fun and glamours day of sun, cars and people. Our partner car club WRX will also be invited to come and check out the day and enjoy our cars. We will also try to gauge some media interest for this event and have our usual talent of photographers onsite for the day. How To Enter: Upon entry onto the grounds you will be greeted by one of our Committee members and given directions. If you wish to have your car in the Show N Shine and be eligible for voting you must notify our team. You will be given a "Vote for me" sheet to place on your car with your details upon notification. Prizes and Awards: Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Godzilla class (32, 33, 34 GT-R) Godzuki class (32, 33, 34 GTS/GTT) WRC class (WRX, Evo) Dorifto class (Silvia platform) Intruder class (other) Use of recreational facilities: The City of Melbourne council have kindly offered us the use of Birrarung Mar for our Show n Shine day. There are strict guidelines and procedures that must be followed for the club to be given permission to use this location. As you can see by the location we will be on display to the general public and those out and about on the Sunday. I also expect we will see a representative or two checking up on things throughout the day to ensure the guidelines are followed. This means the day must be strictly under direct supervision to ensure we don't break any rules. The following must be adhered to by all Members attending the day Strictly walking pace for cars along the red marked track. No loud engine revving or compressor nuisance noises. No unwanted behaviour on (or when leaving) the parks grounds. No dumping of rubbish. No driving outside the marked areas in red. Other: Please note we will have voting boxes open for the end of year SAU VIC awards. This will be your last chance to cast your vote. You can see the awards and how to vote here You can post up your interest here and questions you may have.

i'll be on photo detail

i guess it also comes down to who tunes it and how good they are if its just some kid with an eprom burner who dumps a map on and off you go its not going to be as good as a well done PFC tune. by "good" or "well done" i mean the number of load points adjustmeted on the piggyback or remap or PFC tune. the more points adjusted the better the car will be to drive. a stock PFC on stock maps is good but an safc with all the load points tuned will be better. likewise with a PFC with say 30 to 40 points adjusted it will be ace to drive around and have much better response, and probably average power. likewise with the remap, if its got a big wad of ign and inj points adjusted it would be better

here are your options 1) buy ap engineering PFC $1400 + $400 tuned - expensive ap engineering version - option of power fc pro for same price - can be tuned / fixed by anyone who supports PFC 2) buy rb25 or rb26 PFC $950 + $400 tuned - rb25 version should throw errors for VCT sensor/trigger - rb26 version can support twin afms if u want later on - will need rb26 injectors for rb26 version - may not work correctly if done wrong - can be tuned / fixed by anyone who supports PFC 3) buy a remap for stock ecu $450 ish tuned - cheapest first off - will be $450 to have it fixed or "tuned" again if you change stuff later - locked into only people who can remapping 4) safc II $400 to buy it (ish) $250 maybe to tune it? - cheaper again - has limited load points and tuning capability - wont support bigger injectors - will push the stock ecu too far in the end, the more u lean out or bend the afm signal, the more timing it throws in, so youll eventually be stuck, but it will be fine for stock turbo - cool display screen they all should make the same power and performance the main quality will be how good the tune thats put on the stock remap or PFC. if the PFC tune isnt that good drive to another PFC tuner and get them to touch it up, or use the PFC FAQ and do some of it yourself. you also get a lot more visiblity with the PFC over the stock remap. you get knock sensor notification, afm support, injector support, airflow warning, injector warning, sensor display, 02 sensor feedback and hand controller (also option of pro version if ap engineering). if the remap tune sucks u have to goto the same person or only a few select remappers and they will just charge u the same price most likely to touch it up each time, as they just burn the chip again. PFC touchups should be much cheaper and quicker www.nengun.com 4E14N07Z -=> AU $ 1,452.91 - Apexi PoweFC Pro - Nissan Skyline HCR32 RB20DET (H/C 415-N001 Included) 4E14N07Z -=> AU $ 1,373.63 - Apexi PowerFC - Nissan HCR32 RB20DET 89/5-93/8 414-AN012 -=> AU $ 908.71 - Apexi PowerFC - Nissan Skyline ECR33 RB25DET (For Version 1&2) 414-AN029 -=> AU $ 908.71 - Apexi PowerFC - To suit BNR32/BCNR33 those prices are delivered from japan but don't include customs, which it is meant to be exempt from

covered in the power fc faq, see my signature for the URL a remap is probably the cheaper option and will give you 80% of what you need
-
the PFC FAQ tells you how to use poor mans 91 and 93 ron fuels ive done it a few times in shitty towns that have only pesant fuel. as long as you don't load the engine up and come on boost over and over it should be fine. just watch the knock levels and keep backing more and more timing. it will flat as a $2 whore but will drive fine and get you out of a sticky situation :sorcerer:

are u sure the v power is the new "optimax extreme" ? i always thought the v power stuff was red at the bowser and is the replacement for normal optimax and that optimax extreme was still called that and avaiable
