  1. just a warning... when i tried this wire 53 cut, i had issues with stalling when cold at low rpm why? don't know... problem went away when i re-connected the wire! Warren.
  2. i changed a clamp on a cooler pipe once. turns out as per story above i didn't tighten it up enough when i replaced the clamp so down the highway and 'bang' off goes the pipe it was a fair way home so i drove it running rich as hell then car wouldn't hold revs turned out that i had fouled the spark plugs... all i did was replace the spark plugs and worked fine hope that's your soluion... (or your 'mates' solution) Warren.
  3. shopping around will find you a good price i went to Blinky's brake and exhaust in dandenong but i think they may have closed down as i tried calling them over christmas and couldn't get through
  4. yeah i have heard stories of it too but never actually spoken to anyone sho has done it i think its just a myth
  5. have any r32 gtst aftermarket front bumpers? or an r32 gtr front bumper? any condition... can PM me or email warren_clements AT hotmail.com
  6. oh, and i don't condone "high-flowing" your own cat. i did it as a temporary measure and will be replacing it with a legit cat soon
  7. well that's a debatable point... some say they "have a method" but i have not heard of anyone getting fined i think the $10,000 fine that you can potentially get scares some people away
  8. go to your local exhaust shop say "g'day mate. how much for a 3-inch mandrel-bent exhaust from the turbo-back? i'm after a cannon muffler on that" then when you get a price, go to antoher place and ask the same question... also some people might be able to recommend a place where they went and can verify some good quality work i paid $550 for 3" cat-back in mild steel with large resonator and stainless cannon muffler. the place i went to i think has gone under (blinky's brake and exhausts). i also paid $240 for a 3" dump/front from BATMBL. you will find that you can get a BRAND NEW exhaust custom-made exactly how you want it for less than the price of a 5 year old jap-brand exhaust that hangs so low that it scrapes along the ground... cheers, Warren.
  9. you would be crazy to pay more than about $800 just because it has a brand name or comes in a kit doesn't necessarily make it any better than if you buy a hybrid and get soem pipes made myself? i bought the cooler for $400, pipes and fitting was $260... totl = $660 yes, there are some bad cheap intercoolers going around (eg ex-truck coolers) but there are also some decent ones (eg hybrid) some people have more "dollars than sense" and will pay an extra $500-1000 just for a brand Warren.
  10. i drove from melb to queensland... sat on 110-115 km/h for 2-3 hours straight for most of the time sometimes up a hill with a full car (read: fridge, books, all my belongings plus me and my g/f) i would sit on full boost for 10secs while i climbed a hill the good old rb20 didn't miss a beat! Warren.
  11. yeah its just a temporary measure untill i can get my hands on something better... thanks all for you help might just save up for a 3" cat in the next few months...
  12. please disregard this advice... driving a GTR on P's is not legal. we do not advocate doing anything illegal. we would rather you have fun an live, than have extreme fun and die Warren.
  13. there may be no restriction, but my question is will it make any difference in power? being a studenti'm after bang-for-buck $500 for a 5kW gain is not worth it in my book... however $500 for a 20kW gain is a different story... but i know in this case that's not what i am looking at
  14. well, yeah you are hijacking the thread. you will get more responses if you start a new thread...
  15. that's what i'm thinking... i don't want to spend $200 to find it makes no difference. that $200 could go into an SAFC or something similar... anyone else actually done a swap and noticed a difference?
  16. yeah would be nice... would rather something a little more subtle though
  17. this is in regards to my exhaust set-up... currently: - 3" dump/front-in-one (from BATMBL) - 3" custom-made mandrel-bent cat-back with 3" cannon muffler and 3" resonator - stock compliance cat: looks like 2.5" but has been 'high-flowed' if you know what i mean... so my question is this: is it worthwile spending the $200 on a 3" cat? I have done some searches and have read many posts where people change to a 3" cat and say they feel no difference in power... another option is to get my cat 'converted' to a 3" cat by cutting it and welding on 3" flanges and 3" pipe on either end... is this possible? has anyone done this before or is it just theory? has anyone chagned their cat with positive results? with this set-up i made 132rwkw on 12psi with the auto-trans equipped rb20 (with 10-10.5 AFRs!) Cheers, Warren
  18. so are you going to devulge the situation? ie what car, what you got ripped off for? i'd be great to make sure it doesn't happen to somebody else and that they know what to look out for...
  19. if you want to 'upgrade' then you are talking about the turbo off the VG30DET, which was a DOHC single turbo 3L. the ones from the 300zx TT are smaller than the stocker
  20. my setup as i posted a while ago: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ight=r32+airbox refer to that thread if you like...
  21. i would have thought it would have been mainly due to the fact that there are 2 turbo's and thus two turbines in the exhaust system. plus the exhust design varies because of this. but, this is just a thought and nothing more...
  22. hey mate, do you have the cat converter? if so, what is its diameter? cheers, Warren.
  23. thanks mate, i will assess the funds and get back to you
  24. hey daniel, any word on those trans service costs? cheers, Warren
