  1. :werd: buy the cheapest timer and hide it where it can't be seen... you won't even use all the extra features it might come with!
  2. tiem to take it to the transmission specialist me thinks hope its not too serious... Waz.
  3. if it were me, then i wouldn't worry about the water hoses.. and the answer will also depend on the age of the car i guess as well, but for a car with say 70,000 or 80,000kms i would change: 1 - engine oil + filter 2 - coolant flush and re-fill with new thermostat 3 - diff oil 4 - trans service including oil + filter 5 - brake fluid? + inspect brake pads 6 - fuel filter 7 - inspect tires 8 - check base engine timing (15 or 20deg BTDC for rb26?) keep in mind that at 100,000kms timing belt also needs to be done.. the problem is not that things are worn or fluids are out of date or anything, its more that you have no idea of what is in there! some people do actually use the home brand oil you can buy from coles. how do you know that its not in there? i would then take off some sensors and give them a clean. hell, i do it all the time, but who knows how dirty they are inside. this would include AAC valve, IAC valve, AFMs, oxygen sensor but some of this will be done at compliance. again, what fluids are they using? who knows... hope that helped, Warren.
  4. could be a number of things... give the car a full service (using a trusty engine oil), and then note any drops in levels
  5. mine hasn't been started for 3 weeks and counting... (was in melb on holiday from qld where my car is) i disconencted the battery and turned the alarm off though - hopefully she starts!
  6. hey jevan, if it has 4-pot front brakes, then advertise it as a Type M that's all anyone cares about really i think as for what is type m? well, i think it included different steering wheel, rear wiper, bodykit, better brakes, and some other stuff too but from memory any or all of these things could be added to a non type m or removed from a type m, so brakes really seal the deal... Warren.
  7. when i fitted a trannie cooler to my R32 auto, i found that it did indeed have the factory AT oil cooler on the bottom of the radiator... i simply run the fluid through this cooler, then through my aftermarket cooler, then back to the trannie
  8. yoiu can get nissan ones from supercheap for $15
  9. why do you ask? my car came with S14/R33 rims on it and i bought stock R32 rims to replace them... they looked terrible on the R32 i thought...
  10. chris, didn't your dad buy you a 250rwkw skyline? why is it such bullshit then that this guy's parents bought him a VW golf? i know when i have kids and when (if) i have the money, i will definately be buying them a car. why? well why would i want them to work at maccas to afford a $1000 car that is unreliable and shit, when i could get them something decent? i know it all comes down to money, and some poeple have it and others don't. life ain't fair - deal with it.
  11. congrats on the car mate... i don't mind the look of the golf and with the V6 it would have to go well... as for everyone who is flaming him, remember that some people are better off finantially than others (might not be fair, but that's life) and do have parents buy a car for them. the only reason i can think of for people bagging this is jealousy Warren.
  12. i have seen many NA cars with them on  many products are actually caled "auto timers" rather than "turbo timers" so that they can also target the NA market (who knows why)...
  13. personlly, with 11psi and the stock intercooler i wouldn't increase it at all just yet. on an rb20 i think 12-14psi is safe if you have a FMIC but you don't really, its up to you - its your car
  14. what size cat do you have on it? if 3" then how much $$ ?
  15. this is an awesome car guys, saw it at the recent mercury motorsports dyno day... engine sounds great and is in a very healthy condition free bump
  16. i'm in melb for a few weeks, so will have to give it a miss
  17. man, do you realise this thread was from 2003?
  18. if i can fit into an R32 (i'm 6'4" also) then anyone can fit into an R34!
  19. i recommend a custom-made from your local exhaust shop - cheaper than an aftermarket one, exactly to your specifications, and everything about it will be brand new! Also, the jap made ones hang too low... (defectably low)
  20. try: performance jap specialist 4B merri court, campbellfield 9357 0658 ask for Prassana they are relatively unheard of and thus have heaps of parts Warren.

you're implying that if you take your car to ice performance, then your car won't be taken care of properly... care to elaborate on this? personal experience, or just what you have read? from what i have read they are one of the best workshops around...
  22. if you want value-for-money, the R32 is definately worth it, i think more-so than the R33 (but everyone's opinions differ obviously) i think having a debt for a car is stupid - especially if you don't have to my advice: take what money you have and buy the cheapest model skyline that you can afford without a loan (or with a small loan from a non-bank (eg parents)) Warren.
  23. i just take every driveway sideways and i have no problems...
