  1. nice call mate... after all that's been happening lately its wise to warn others to think before they let go of their money
  2. hmmmmmmmmmmm how about you go and lock yourself up and save the police the hassle? ...idiot
  3. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...showtopic=67201 hope this link helps you if all does not go well... but saying that, i hope it comes. never nice to hear of a sale gone bad best of luck, Waren.
  4. looking for a cat to put on my car when i go to the drags 3" cat gutted, then with a 3" pipe through it anyone got one? i could get one made, but thought i would try thsi first Warren.
  5. what about carby cleaner? works well for the rest of the manifold so should be fine for the IC...
  6. well i finally installed mine today but had a bit of dramas myself with setting it up... installation went fine. pretty easy, especially on the R32 as there are no solenoids etc to worry about the hardest part was to get it to the right boost. i wound it what i thought was almost out and it boosted over 1 bar then i kept winding the screw back and eventually got it to the right boost have not given the car a full test yet, but seems to hold the boost nicely in higher gears. not sure how it is in first gear, i think it only hits like 10psi in first, then up to 12psi in second and third. but as i said, will give the car a better test soon as for building boost, its almost instantaneous with the stock turbo! lag? where? mark, that spring you used doesn't give much movement for those wanting only a 2-3psi difference... maybe you could use a "softer" spring? Warren.
  7. hey davor, hows things mate? this thread is all over the shop whith things i don't understand (and haven't really read), but back to dynoing... when i did this with mine, they firstly put the car on the dyno and warmed up the tyres. then the tuner went through the gears for a few mins to check the condition of the gearbox. then he gave it a base power run. then he jumped out and played around with the timing then he gave it another power run then he played with boost a little (i know you can't do this with your car) all up with interruptions my car was on the dyno for about 2.5hours and i paid $110 for an hours worth of dyno time so back to your question... can they 'tune' the car? to me, 'tune' means change the ignition maps or AFRs, and no they cannot do this unless you have some sort of aftermarket ECU or interceptor device but you can get them to tweak the timing a bit, assess the health of your engine and gearbox, and give you a nice printout of your power! its a great way to tell if your car is in good condition or on its last legs... if you really want a bit of a tune you can get an SAFC (do a search if you don't know what it is) and they could play around with AFRs a bit good luck! Warren.
  8. omg that's a tiny rear muffler... what size is the exhaust?? i would attend to that too if i were you...
  9. well the GTR cooler is normally quite a large unit, not sure how it would fit in the side of the front bar even with extensive modifications. must be a tight fit! you could pick up a FMIC in the group buy section for like $300 i think. go have a look. or keep your eyes out in the for sale part... the hardest part is piping. my suggestion would be to get an exhaust shop to custom-make you some pipes. works out the cheapest (if you are on a budget). if you aren't on a budget then check out www.modyourcar.com.au i think they have piping kits there... oh, now i see you should have said at the start of the thread that the car just came from japan! i think we just asumed that you did the modifications yourself yeah these cars can be a mystery sometimes with what has actually been done to them when they arrive. it seems a bit of a coencidence that ALL gauges aren't working... including the stock ones? if just the aftermarket ones maybe they were unplugged? or all linked somehow? i don't know.. maybe someone pulled a fuse? i'm not much of a gauge expert... i hope you can manage 250rwkw will be nice to see the 'ol rb20 pull some nice figures Warren.
  10. its not loud at all i paid a bit more for a larger resonator ('hot dog' or whatever you call it) that's the key i think to a nice sounding exhaust that's not too loud but still flows well... the problem with lots of jap ehausts is they hang very low, almost scraping the ground. i've heard of cars with stock ride height being defected for too low based on the lowest part of hte car being the exhaust hanging and with mine i could choose what muffler i wanted. as in they can attach a mufler and if its too quiet they can change it untill i'm happy. i was happy anyway with the cannon they had initially. plus i got it out on a slight angle, just what i wanted. that's what you get with a custom job i personally can't see any horsepower difference with a custom compared to jap. people claim the R&D that has gone into the jap exhausts but is it really going to make that much of a difference? if any? Warren.
  11. a GTR intercooler IS a FMIC... you've had all this work but it hasn't been on the dyno? something doesn't sound right... or did you buy the car already modded?
  12. i had mine custom made so i got a BRAND NEW exhaust with BRAND NEW stainless cannon muffler 3", large resonator, mandrel-bent i paid $540 which obviously included install how is that not better valve for money? oh, and because its custom made, they were able to make it sit nice and high like the stock exhaust, making lowering the car a much mroe feasable proposition...
  13. true... i remember seeing a thread comparing optimx to bp ultimate ultimte made about 10 more rwkw, but also had an IT 10-15deg higher than the optimax reading... hmmmmmm... bit sus to me
  14. http://aus300zx.neuralmotion.com.au/index.cfm;jsessionid=3a3016b1dd91$C5$19$D?action=view&type=post&postid=242235&highlight=boost jet://http://aus300zx.neuralmotion.com.au...light=boost jet well actually 'boost jets' as talked about in 300zx land are welding tips that they put into their boost hoses to change the time it takes for air to get to the wastegate. works well for them in increasing boost consistently the link is from www.aus300zx.com and i know some people from there with Zed's and that is what a boost jet is in their talk... maybe they could benefit from this as well then, Mark?
  15. nice work! should start another thread for R32 auto drag times... see what others have done what's the weight of the sedan compared to coupe? did you stall it up before takeoff? did you run it throught the gears, or just left it in D? stock suspension? much wheelspin? Warren.
  16. obviously smaller gap will lose power... otherwise all spark plugs would be gapped down very small just run as large a gap as you can without getting any side effects (ie misfire) i used to run 1.1mm gap on my rb20 running 12psi, and only dropped it to 0.8mm because when it can time for replacements (i use coppers) i couldn't find any 1.1mm ones so just got 0.8mm ones because they were in front of my face but in the end... the difference may not be all that significant
  17. is your car auto by any chance? the auto R32gtst's have this weird thing on the pipe that comes from the intercooler that joins up with the crossover pipe, at about the level of the airbox... its like a little pipe that is blocked off with a rubber thing around it (bad description, i know...) don't know why its there but it is on the auto's and the ex-owner may have used it to mount a bov
  18. yeah get a funnel and attach it to the dipstick hole and pour it in there... but first find if it has a leak.... no point refilling it if its going to dissappear again...
  19. from what i have read it fits, but if you are going to upgrade a turbo why not spend a bit extra and do it properly (ie exhaust manifold too)? most people get a power FC because it can be easily re-tuned, and/or the stock ecu on their car cannot be tuned Waz.
  20. with all that exhaust stuff do you happen to have a 3" cat?
  21. do you have a cat converter? if so what size and price?
  22. you sure? i thought boost jets where when they put little metal restrictors in the hose with a specific diameter...
