  1. well, kptechnologies (http://www.kptechnologies.com) make a unit that has been made specifically for the G35 to do just this go to their website, go to products, then select "wondow roll-up" they sell it for USD$50 not sure if it can be integrated into our car due to wiring differences between G35 and V35 but i'll throw it out there for those interested..
  2. damn, i feel you pain mate, i got keyed 2 years ago on my R32, and never found a solution. it looked better after a cut+polish, but not the same.. your best bet is to take it to a panel beater, but unfortunately be prepared for the news that you might have to consider a lot of painting its furious to contemplate having to spend $$ when you did absolutely nothing to deserve it..
  3. look mate, i agree with you and i painted my hubs with heat proof paint even though they don't get hot at all! but what i am trying to say is that you CAN paint with normal paint if you want to someone might be on a massive budget, or might not be able to get their desired colour in the high-temp stuff, so the possibility is there and i'm giving them the info they might need i condone doing it right the first time
  4. ha ha this is the funnisest shit ever!
  5. have you tried normal paint? i have and it worked fine.. the hot part is the rotor and the friction surface of the brake pad i personally don't want others to have to waste money on high-temp paint if they don't have to or don't want to
  6. a couple of points i would add: - calipers don't need high temp paint - they work fine with any paint, but feel free to use high temp if you feel the need but it limits your colour range - the best ways to get the nissan lettering white is to either get a white paint pen and do it carefully, or just sand the pain back to the bare metal, although sanding is harder as the nissan has slight grooves in it - make sure you also paint the stock hub as that thing is rusty and disgusting! give it a rub with a metal brush then with steel wool, then finally clean it up with metho. then paint them either silver or black - calipers work well with eitehr gold, red, or silver as these are collom colours you might find brembo's or stock calipers in - when painting, don't worry if paint gets on the rotor, as any paint on the friction surface of the rotor (ie where the pad will touch) will be gone the first time you drive the car. if you feel you must get it off, use some turps on a rag personally, i painted the calipers on my dark blue R32 in red, and i think it suited the car perfectly. on my V35, i have left the calipers stock as they are silver and i like it that way. i recently painted the hubs in an aluminium colour to match, and the whole combo looks fantastic!
  7. what about an older-model audi S4? does that fit into your price bracket? AWD + TT V6 sounds like a bag of fun and in a classy package that is very easy to live with everyday..
  8. thanks for that rob! just what i was looking for! yeah i was thinking it would be really helpful when parking that's interesting it only works in 1st gear and turns off after 20sec --> makes it perfect for its application hos is the image to see with split screen going?
  9. surely if you have ever owned any car, you would know that this ideal never happens you have to factor in the kind of repairs that an "average" example of the car you're buying would need, and then decide if you can afford it
  10. you should be very very happy if you even get 8-10 for it! what brings it down? - auto + 4wd - 4 door what brings it up? - clean and stock i would say 7-9k
  11. holy jesus! $1700?!? is that through nissan?
  12. no part number sorry and its not something offered on the G35 so info is hard to come by.. the problem is the reverse camera switches when the car is put into reverse, so there is a definitive event that can cause the switch obviously this can't switch the front cameras on also becasue there can't be 3 images on the screen, and also the front cameras would be useless when reversing... so there must be some other way it turns on i'm thinking..
  13. cool, thats what i thought from the japanese website description.. but how do you activate it? is there a switch to turn them on, or does it turn on itself at certain conditions or in a certain situation?
  14. here's some nissan info on the camera system but i obviously can't read japanese! http://www.nissan.co.jp/OPTIONAL-PARTS/SKY...V35/sk_043.html
  15. well i have the rear camera (and love it!) but i have been wondering for a while about front cameras.. does anyone have the optional front cameras on the left / right of the front bumper? if so, how do they work? ie when do they come on and is the image split with the rear cameras? for those not understanding, i have attached a pic of said camera system i found on the internet.. i would welcome any ideas and discussion on the matter.. chris rogers - did you notice in my car a provision to hook these up to the rear TV box? i imagine there might have been a loose plug hanging around somewhere. also, since you can source the rear cameras, can you also source these front cameras? i'm mostly interested in how and when an image is displayed, i assume its to assist with parking or for something else? does it turn on an image at low speeds or something? or is it to see around corners when turning and it comes on with the indicators? cheers, Warren
  16. congrats mate!
  17. as i understand the kits reduces flaring of gears, thus reducing wear i can see that it might increase temperatures though, so have you considered a trans cooler? i ran a shift kit and trans cooelr on my R32GTSt auto for about 1.5years and it ws perfectly fine
  18. V35? can import a coupe for 30k or buy one already imported for a little bit more...
  19. definately agree with the R31. its probably going to be faster than an non-turn R32 or R33 and is a shitload cheaper to buy and maintain plus its got old-school cred! if you must get an R32 or R33, then look at the R32GTS25 which has the rb25de as stock. they are all 92 or 93 models i think
  20. the simple rule of thumb i go by is to ignore the kms completely if the engine compresion/condition is good, gearbox shifts well, and the interior trim is in good condition, then you are on a winner
  21. for the coupe's, the the older G35 is essentially a V35, while the G37 is a V36 for hte sedans, the older G35's were V35's while the newer G35's are V36's they didn't go to G37 for the newer sedans as they still have the 3.5L V6 (i think)
  22. done the crime, do the time...
  23. looks like the same setup as in the V35 and unfortunately they are useless in australia as they are made by a company called XANAVI and they don't make maps of australia the good news is that you might still be able to use the screen to play somethign else like a garmin GNV52 or a DVD player. do a search on the garmin unit, i have one and its a great piece of equipment
  24. if you spend your deposit for your house, where are you going to get your deposit from in only a few years time? if you had no car then i'd say a car is a must, but you have a nice 180sx, there's no point doing a small upgrade and blowing your deposit when you could have a house and a few years later get an even better car (ie V35, V36)
  25. or just call chris rogers and ask him for info on which one to use...
