  1. sorry mate not saying you're advertising, i'm just saying we all want to make our cars look like that! any advice for the DIYer that shops at repco/supercheap/autobarn on what products to buy and how to do a good job at home? also, i have some stains on my rear windscreen (presumably from acid rain) that have not budged using meguiars scratchX, and ideas for removing them?
  2. well this is a car forum for sharing ideas, not designed for advertising.. you did a great job on the GTR but care to share some knowledge or tips about general paint care? we all share knowledge here
  3. best to get a compression test at a mechanic if you don't do it 100% right you are going to end up with weird results and have to take it to a mechanic anyway its a once in an ownership test really
  4. yeah exactly as above, my experience has been that its either - catch can incorrect - your engine is f*ked i'm hoping for your sake that you have recently installed a catch can if not, its time for a compression test and leak-down test and bring your wallet..
  5. yeah its fine if the car is returned to standard, and the parts removed are destroyed but if you remove the parts and the nre-install them, you risk your car being re-exported and the compliance shop losing their compliance ability the whole point of the RAWS scheme was to make sure only standard cars were coming in so that shit examples that are mechanically poor don't flood the market. this helps in many ways to ensure the reputation of the car is maintained, that the standard of examples on our shores is high, and that resale is maintained. if you go importing shit cars or heavily modified examples you end up with half of the cars floatign around being a shitbox. take the R32, S13 etc as a prime example of this - i would never buy one because they are all f*ked
  6. well no, because its probably not eligeable for import any compliance shop that is going to comply it is probably going to do a dodgy, thus i was interested in seeing who you chose and who i should steer well clear of
  7. V36 is the model you're all referring to... there's no V37 as yet you might be getting confused with the G37 which is the same car as the V36 but in the USA
  8. interesting to see you selling especially since you just sold your other one to get this one! there's nothing more behind the sale? is it not meeting your needs as a daily or something? i must say, its a very nice example of a V35..
  9. perhaps he was sending/spinning some BS your way to make a sale? no stereo? unlikely.. if it were me i would steer clear of that whole workshop
  10. no stereo?? no V35 came without a stereo! there was a "track" model which had a LSD, 18" wheels, brembo brakes, momo steering wheel and i think some of the 2005 onwards versions had stiffer suspension on these models but if it was an earlier model (2003/2004) then i think the suspension was the same across all coupe's i would be wary if there is no stereo, why on earth would someone remove it unless it was broken or damaged?! what else has then been removed?
  11. yeah i think you're right, its not the OEM one but if you have an aftermarket alarm then bingo! i have the OEM sensors (as in the pic i posted) but they are placed exactly where yours is in that pic, one on the RHS and one on the LHS of the dash..
  12. try arming it, wait a minute or so, then open with the key in the lock.. if it doesn't work then i have no idea sorry! but the sensors are definatly a dealer option
  13. you're not referring to the 2 shock sensors that are located on either side of the dashboard? if so, then you also have the optional dealer-fitted alarm with optional shock sensors that was an addition to the OEM immobiliser it doesn't sound when the car is armed but is very loud if you try to open the door manually with the car armed!
  14. just wanted th throw this in the mix.. i was a metro nissan today in the spare parts/service department and a guy came in wanting to pick up his car. he had a loaner car - a nissan murano. he pulled out the key he had for his murano to reveal the same key as we have! something worth investigating if you need a key
  15. well the rattles in the doors are definatley gone - i just went for a drive and listened to a few tracks from kanye west, that was enough to test out the bass listening to the sound at 20 with bass and treble at +2, there was no rattles, just sweet bass and music!
  16. chris, i've seen you work - you could easily fit into the nissan factory your wiring is that perfect, all you need would be to shrink to be about a foot smaller and turn a little asian and voila!
  17. ok just an update.. i have done some modifications to my doors to also address the same problem. i noticed that on certain songs with a lot of bass, the door also squeaks in certain areas. this can be stopped with enough downward pressure on the top of the door fascia. so i took the door off - there is one screw behind the door latch - now the silver handle comes off revealing another 2 screws - all these screws require a 10mm ratchet with an extension +/- a phillips screwdriver - from here the rest is clips so just pull it forward, then up and out now, i didn't have my camera unfortunately but i can try and describe where i put the felt ON THE DOOR ITSELF i put 3 pieces of felt down on the door, basically at the same points where the screws go into the door. i decided that felt would be best used on the door fascia as this is the part that moves ON THE DOOR FASCIA i concentrated on the top of the fascia as this is the part that touches with metal and where the squeaks seemed like they were coming from. if you turn the fascia upside down or lie on the ground, you will see that there are 4 areas where the top of the fascia touches with the top of the door itself. i cut 4 small pieces of felt and put them onto these locations next, there was this odd square-shaped item in the middle that seemes to jutt-out, so i put 2 pieces on this and i think that is really all i did. i basically just looked for areas that articulate, or areas that had signs of wear, and then put the felt in that area. pretty simple stuff really and the result? well i haven't taken it for a drive but i did listen to my music on VERY high and no squeaks or rattles of any kind the best part? i used the same piece of felt as before, which means this mod was essentially FREE for me! cheers, Warren
  18. they must go to japan to get their hands on one.. are they released in the UK as yet? this also means that they wouldn't have put it around the TG test track which is a little dissappointing also, given his review of the new evo, clarkson SHOULD like the GTR as he craps on about how easy the evo is to drive and this is the impression i get out of the GTR.. but he is rarely consistent with his reviews..
  19. i'll take them - consider them sold!
  20. lies! i just watched it on you tube.. there is an STI vs EVO, an AMG Merc CLK63, an RS6 Avant but no new GTR..
  21. to have xenons in australia, you need both of - headlight washer - self-levelling system we have neither on our cars!
