  1. stagea transmission in a GTR? possible no doubt, but not factory would be a nice setup if it had a shift kit and high-stall..
  2. haven't checked as yet.. i'm studying for exams which are on friday which means i can procrastinate all day on the computer and be guilt free (as my notes are open in an adjacent window), but if i leave the vicinity of my computer/books (ie to go to the car) i get massive guilt about not studying.. i know i'm weird i will check for the wiring before i think about getting any elements though
  3. when i first got my car i was travelling to Wondai on a weekly basis, and the fuel economy was unbelieveable you just don't expect to get >800kms out of a tank from a car with this much power especialyl coming from the fuel-sucking engines from R-series skylines.. now they are horrible on fuel economy but you'd expect decent economy from such advanced engine design that hte VQ has, not to mention the fact that its an NA
  4. that's an interesting find.. i;ve read quite a bit about the blue tokico shocks being a good factory-ish repalcement.. maybe that's because they ARE factory OEM equipment! did you install 350z shocks and springs, or just the springs?
  5. you're kidding, right?? this has to be one of the most economical for its power output cars i have driven for a long long time..
  6. cool.. yeah we have only 2 pre-clinical years then 2 clinical years, i think you guys have 3 pre-clinical then 2 clinical.. right? or is it 2 pre-clinical and 3 clinical? anyway, gen med is fun, no doubt you are running around with talley and o'connor in one hand and a stethoscope in the other, pocekts filled with tendon hammers and torches.. just don't let all those old grannies talk for too long when you're taking their history! haha anyway have fun
  7. well if you are in brisbane you are halfway between the sunshine and goldcoasts, but if you're at the gold coast then you're 2 hours + from the sunshine coast, which imo is a nicer place with less idiots running around brisbane is a great little town buts its assets is its relative proximity to the sunshine and gold coasts
  8. just to update this.. i have found a company that sells carbon fibre heating elements http://www.heatedseatkits.com/index.html costs $180 for the pair for front seats they are OEM items in many cars in the USA.. and i've also recieved my heated seat switches from the G35 so once my exams are over, my plan is to find out if i have the heating elements or not, and if i don't i'm going to look at getting a set of heating elements and wiring them up using the stock switches to control it it should suit those cold summer mornings just fine!
  9. the best possible thing to run that screen is... garmin GVN-52 do a google search on it - its a fantastic nav unit and would work like a pimp on the factory screen via an aux inpot chris rogers will sort you out: www.audioexpress.com.au
  10. i've used it once before without noticing any difference, either positive or negative haven't used it since as its a pain to get to Milton which is the closes shell that stocks it...
  11. according to NISMO, its 72 litres http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Km...mp;hl=fuel+tank
  12. rlove - different engine/gearbox, non-turbo.. the V35 is totally different to the R34, so don't be surprised i was getting 250kms/tank in my heavily modified R32 but thats just how it goes with that kind of car with its modifications
  13. i just wanted to bump this thread to further discuss brake upgrades, as i came across a thread regarding brake upgrades (big brake kits): http://www.zeckhausen.com/testing_brakes.h...ormance%20Model a company tested stock 350z brakes (same as our brakes) against the brembo package (same as our brakes), then against a big brake kit summary of results: - between all cars, brake kits reduced average stopping distance from 100km/h to zero by 1 metre or less.. - all they were good for was reducing brake temps, although they did that very well in some cases reducing brake temps by 20%.. and we all know how good the stock non-brembo brakes are on our car, so if all we need to do is reduce temperatures well that is exactly what the RDA slotteds are designed to do.. slotted's just firms even more as a good cheap upgrade i only had a skim of that article in the link and will have a solid read soon, but well worth looking at if you like brakes
  14. hey mate, i'm in my final year of med at UQ, hoping to come back down to melb for my internship.. what rotation are you doing?
  15. oh forgot to mention i actually think silver on the hub (where the wheel bolts to) and red on the caliper itself in my mind, there are only 2 options for either hubs: silver, black calipers: red, gold, silver, or black make whatever combo you want from the above but these colours are always going to look the best as they are well known factory brake colours. if you start playing around with pansy colours like purple (someone suggested it) you are going to get laughed at. stick with the tried and tested as it shows that you know about brakes, not that you were bored and went shopping at supercheap given the R-series skylines had nice looking sumitomo brakes i would paint the calipers a bold colour like red. on my V35 the brakes are less nice to look at so i left them silver to draw less attention
  16. here's the review i posted almost 2 years ago when i fitted them: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Le...rs-t124841.html not a difficult process, the hardest part was getting the rear seat out of the car, and also sliding the covers over the seats took patience to ensure it fit well pictures still work in that thread too..
  17. hi caesar, i think the brembo's are the same as used on the 350z's so just check out any pads that fit 350z brembo's race brakes makes great pads - i use rb74s in the front and they aren't expensive
  18. chris - any word on those jap language discs?
  19. gold or red on a silver car i would probably go red..
  20. man i feel your pain i just went through a similar issue with squealing that wouldn't go away, and its bloody annoying race brakes (up here in QLD) sorted me out in the end - hats off to them!
  21. i totally agree Unique, they are luxury cruisers and not for traffic light grand prix events
  22. i'n not so sure, GEXer... i have not tried taking a WRX on (i'm not into that stuff anymore) but from comparing my auto coupe to my R32 and my R32 to how it went at willowbank, i am sure as hell a stock V35 is on par with a stock WRXC, if not slightly faster
  23. its got a CVT transmission in it which means 1) there's no gears like a regular auto 2) really slow to take off the advantages being that its super smooth to drive... the CVT isn't performance orientated, if you want something to spin the wheels on takeoff sell the GT8 and get a regular auto or manual car also, the WRX has better than average takeoff given that its 4wd - its their best attribute
  24. welcome robbo! congrasts on the purchase! what colour/year etc did you get??
