  1. what - with the windows open? if anything having them on should INCREASE noise. hence why lexus stopped offering them on their LS400's because they increased in-cabin NVH levels. keeping in mind that car had the lowed drag co-efficient AND lowest in-cabin dB reading of ANY car in production at the time. but you're entitled to an opinion - just as in my opinion the weather shields look sh1t hot! very JDM. i've sprayed the reverse side of mine with black gloss, and sikaflexed them on so that they're water tight. not only are they now very functional, but they look a million times better.
  2. i have had weather shields off my car, then on, and it has made no significant difference. i would suggest its the seal around the window. it doesnt take much to catch some air and make a noise. mine was lifted slightly on the drivers side towards the lower edge - i just pushed it back in, and it stopped the noise.
  3. hey guys i read a post about a guy making kits to suit s2 stags but that was a while ago. some lateral thinking though would suggest maybe an r34 setup would fit (based on the loose theory that r34 panels can be hung on the front end so why not). does anyone know any better?? one i'm looking at is this http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=17670&cat=&page=1
  4. car is looking awesome. has come so far in so little time! what are the specs on the rims?
  5. sorry, 17's a bit too small for these big beasts..... willing to consider some nice offset Jap Brand 18's with cash adjustment - work emotion's X series, CR's etc.... just want something a bit more compliant for my ride to work.
  6. chuckie - if your mate is interested in a purchase he can call me on O438 32O 369. can't write back to your PM for some reason, just has a big red X.
  7. and the shuddering started just after the front end was rebuilt? the old 'cause and effect' theory is a good one....
  8. i'd start with the simple stuff like a wheel alignment and balance. if that doesnt fix it, it sounds like a symptom of attessa issues - different diameter tyres front and rear? even worn tyres on the front or rear can throw it out and cause that constant driveline shudder as it swaps torque back and forth rapidly.
  9. get under there and start looking for leaks. smoke/smell is an indication that a fluid is burning - either due to friction, or because it is landing on something hot. the colour of the smoke can tell you what the fluid is, but at this stage probably the easiest thing is to get in the engine bay and look for wetness. it might not even be gearbox related.
  10. stock grey s2 stagea westgate bound this morning just after burnley tunnel. gave a quick wave but was in the process of merging so not easy to manage in a manual!
  11. price drop 16,500 on car sales at that price.
  12. i'm amazed that it can be so hard. i feel for the people involved who obviously got mucjed around by a supplier who over-promised and under-deliverd, but really - they're two long flat bits with a slight curve at the end. a metal fabricator should be able to knock some out in a day.
  13. got an extremely clean s2 with dual roofs, pearl white - but its a manual.....?
  14. got an extremely clean s2 with dual roofs, pearl white - but its a manual.....?
  15. i know that my greddy's are 8 and 6.....so i think they should be fine. it all depends on the type of suspension and the weight of the car. my ls400 with double wishbones had 24kg fronts and 12kg rears.
  16. nice one. did you buy this off terry....or phil....depending on which name he is using that day....??
  17. thanks, this thing constantly turns heads in traffic - most people giving me the 'WTF is that' look, and others who obviously know what it is just have a huge grin - i think people appreciate something different. have bought 15mm spacers for the rear to get the wheels flush to the gaurds. car will also be getting a de-cat pipe and a tidy up tune at chasers in the coming weeks. not so much interested in SWAPS anymore as will have the use of my brother's legacy wagon while he goes o/seas for 12 months - but make an offer.
  18. bump. good thing to have with winter coming, esp if you do any night time country driving. factory look, with the performance of one of the best aftermarket brand available (they are CIBIE's) - think same brand as all the driving lights you see on the front of 4WD bullbars.
  19. russell, if either insurance company 'pays out' on a write off, they own the vehicle - that's what they pay out is for. you can offer to purchase the vehicle back off the insurance company, but you have to express this wish BEFORE they pay out and they can decline your wish or they will set the figure for retaining the salvage - and you can either pay that figure or leave it - and then they will deduct that from the payout amount if you don't express your wish to purchase the vehicle before payout figure is quoted, you'll have to buy it back from my work - we sell the salvage vehicles for all major insurance companies in australia ;-)
  20. righto, i'll get in on it too hahahah http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/356080-eoi-1999-s2-stagea-rsfours-melb/#entry5699258 i'm not too concerned if i don't sell. i still love the car. just doesn't make much sense to have such a big car when i live in the CBD and i'm the only one in it 99% of the time. based on that 12 month selling timeline though, Mike - i might be ready to move on in a years time :-) good luck to us all!
  21. really impressive looking machine. you must work hard to keep a black car looking that good - i recognise a perfectionist at work! best of luck with sale.
  22. if money isn't an issue, and either is time - then i'd get one made locally in stainless steel - with a lukey muffler. every import i hear with a local muffler on it sounds so nice and deep and bassy at idle and down low. such a smooth sound, where as i think the jap mufflers sound a bit more 'zingy'......IMO. or you could go for a varex muffler, and have control over the sound. but for buy now, 100% guaranteed bolt up on the weekend solution - i'd just go for the N1 exhaust with a decat pipe, and perhaps put a remote butterfly in it to silence it. p.s. you should have just bought my car when we talked and you wouldn't be facing these issues hahahah :-P
  23. yeh thats interesting. mine is insured for 17,500 - i'd be ropeable with a glass guide value. i remember a had a skyline written off (i was not at fault)and their insurance comapny offered me SFA - so i got an independent assessment done by a registered assessor - and he assessed it as being worth twice the value they initially offered, and that was the exact value i got PLUS the cost of the assessor.
  24. bump. this car will be going on carsales this week - it will be the first time the car has been publically advertised outside this forum since being imported. don't miss your chance at one of the cleanest stags in oz!
